This is so sad. The worst Pakistan side in living memory. It's farcical. Great for Ollie Robinson and England, can only beat what's in front of you, and it's ruthless, but this is all a bit sad for Test cricket in general isn't it?

    Rod, Cardiff

That is simply embarrassing from Pakistan.

    Steve, Leyburn

  2. Pak 0-2published at 1 over

This is going to be done today, surely. I'm calling it now.

It's a good low catch from Joe Root at first slip. Two in the first over for Ollie Robinson. It is chaos here.

  5. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 0.4 overs

    Shafique c Root b Robinson 0 (Pak 0-2)

This is embarrassing. England don't care. They are running around celebrating as Ollie Robinson nicks off a second batter in his first four balls. Joe Root, back at first slip, takes the catch.

Abdullah Shafique has to slump off.

  6. Pak 0-1published at 0.3 overs

"Absolutely awful batting," says Stuart Broad. "Woeful."

Saim Ayub is caught at slip first ball! Ollie Robinson has done it again.

Ayub, who has been jetted in for this Test match, has made a pair.

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 0.1 overs

    Saim c Brook b Robinson 0 (Pak 0-1)

Not just the first over. A wicket first ball! What more can you say about this Pakistan misery? Ollie Robinson just floats the ball up there, Saim Ayub has a drive and edges to second slip.

That's a pair for Saim. This really might end today.

You won't be surprised Ollie Robinson has the new ball in hand. Wicket in the first over?

The clouds are thick and grey above Edgbaston. These are ideal conditions for Ollie Robinson and co.

Pakistan have not reached 200 in the series. They have only batted 50 overs once.

England have had a good summer and can be proud of themselves. They shouldn’t get too complacent, though. 100s are the currency in tests, not fifties, and whilst our bowling is looking really good, there will come a game where the ball isn’t doing much.

Well played England. They didn't throw it away. It's a mountain to climb for Pakistan who are walking off wearily.

Razaullah got everyone excited and he was unlucky not to get his five-for.

England now have a few clouds to play with when they come out to bowl.

  14. Cox to replace Smith as England wicketkeeperpublished at 15:52 BST 10 September

We've had official confirmation that Jordan Cox will keep wicket in the second innings rather than Jamie Smith.

Smith suffered an injury to his left ring finger while keeping on day one and will not take the field.

It will be the first time Cox has taken the gloves for England but he has done it regularly in county and franchise cricket.

    Thanks Tim.

Pakistan need 321 to make England bat again. More pressingly, will they avoid a two-day defeat?

The players head inside for tea and buns.

Can Pakistan bat through to the end of the day?

Here's Matthew Henry with the answer. He'll take you through the tea break and into the evening session.

Josh Tongue has nicked it and that is the end of the innings. That's a good ball to finish it off, albeit to a lower-order player.

They are listening to Joe Root. He wanted them to be ruthless and get a big score.
