Jordan Cox was up to the stumps for a combined 40 overs from pacers Shane Snater and Jamie Porter during his only game as a keeper for Essex in the County Championship this summer (12th-15th June v Leicestershire).

  2. Pak 29-2published at 7.2 overs

With Jofra Archer wayward, Joe Root has turned to Gus Atkinson early.

Atkinson deserves a few wickets, having only taken one so far in the series.

Calm down, lads. I leave work in half an hour and would like some cricket to listen to on the way home!

With four faint shadows by his feet, Ollie Robinson probes and probes. Runs come off the inside edge. The last ball moves sharply away again.

Ollie Robinson has taken a wicket with the first ball of the innings twice in this series. He did it with the first ball of the series and again today.

Only fives times in the history of Test cricket has any bowler done that.

    • Zaheer Khan for India v Bangladesh in 2007
    • Pedro Collins for West Indies v Bangladesh in 2004
    • Glenn McGrath for Australia v Sri Lanka in 1999
    • Bill Voce for England v Australia in 1937
  6. Pak 22-2published at 6 overs

    Awais 18, Masood 2

The floodlights are beating down. I reckon it has got a bit darker and umpire Chris Gaffaney is looking up at the skies.

Jofra Archer is firing it everywhere at pace, which arguably makes it even less pleasant for the Pakistan batters.

  7. Pak 18-2published at 5 overs

England, backed by those in the Hollies, appeal after Ollie Robinson darts one into Shan Masood's pads. Masood does not look comfortable at all but this one is too high.

The next from Robinson jags away. He has it on a string.

  8. Pak 18-2published at 4 overs

    Trail by 302

Jofra Archer's second over is much better than his first. Azan Awais fishes at one and edges the next as Archer reaches 90mph. The edge falls short of Joe Root and Awais responds by driving the final ball for four.

The last opener to make a pair against England was David Warner in Hobart in January 2022 and before that Warner again at Old Trafford in 2019.

  11. Pak 14-2published at 3 overs

After 11 deliveries, Ollie Robinson concedes a run as Shan Masood escapes from the interrogation of his forward defence.

    No sign of that rain.

  12. Eng 12-2published at 2.3 overs

With that Shafique dismissal, Joe Root moved clear at the top of the list of most catches in Test cricket by an outfielder again:

    • 220 - Joe Root
    • 219 - Steve Smith
    • 210 - Rahul Dravid
    • 205 - Mahela Jayawardene
    • 200 - Jacques Kallis

You know Ollie Robinson is going to get every ball on the money. He's always asking those questions.

Four more! This one is short and wide. Jofra Archer has bowled better opening overs than that.

Another four to Azan Awais, this time off the hip.

    Archer shrugs.

A run, well, four of them. Jofra Archer's first ball is too full and Azan Awais takes advantage.
