Have your say on England men this summer

  1. Pak 50-2published at 12.2 overs

Jofra Archer is back with brollies still up in the stands. It doesn't look pleasant.

  2. Postpublished at 17:05 BST 10 September

    Ramiz Raja
Former Pakistan captain on Test Match Special

I was fearing for the worst for Pakistan after those two early wickets but thank God for this partnership.

  3. Pak 46-2published at 12 overs

Gus Atkinson completes his over through the gloom.

You wouldn't blame Pakistan if they got the delaying tactics out here. Tie your shoelaces. Ask for a drink. Every trick in the book.

  4. Postpublished at 17:03 BST 10 September

    Aatif Nawaz
Test Match Special commentator on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

The crowd has emerged back in their position. I see the ducks back in their seats.

  5. Postpublished at 17:02 BST 10 September

Shan Masood was walked back to the middle with his bat up his jumper. I don't think he's too thrilled about being asked to play through this.

  6. Postpublished at 17:01 BST 10 September

    Isa Guha
Former England bowler on Test Match Special

The players are back on and they're rushing through as they might be thinking about the light.

  7. Postpublished at 17:00 BST 10 September

The covers are coming off. England's players have reemerged from the dressing room. This delay may not be as long as I thought.

  8. Postpublished at 16:59 BST 10 September

    Timothy Abraham
    BBC Sport journalist at Edgbaston

A number of fans feared the worst here and headed towards the exits, but they might have gone a little prematurely. The covers are coming off.

  9. Postpublished at 16:57 BST 10 September

To their credit, Azan Awais and Shan Masood calmed things down after Ollie Robinson's dramatic opening over.

  10. Postpublished at 16:56 BST 10 September

    Isa Guha
Former England bowler on Test Match Special

There's a lot of movement in the stands because that rain is coming through at Edgbaston now.

  11. rain stops play

Rain stops play - Pak 46-2published at 16:55 BST 10 September

There's time for one more edge off the bowling of Gus Atkinson before the rain gets too heavy.

The players are heading off. Pakistan may be spared for another night at least.

Good captain’s call by Joe Root - wickets are there to be taken and Atkinson needs the boost to his confidence. Spread the joy…

    Zane, Suffolk

  13. Pak 40-2published at 11 overs

    Awais 24, Masood 14

Bad news unless you have tickets for day three.

The groundstaff are hovering. There are one or two spots of rain on the camera lenses.

  14. How's stat?!published at 16:50 BST 10 September

29% of Gus Atkinson's deliveries this series have drawn a false shot (edged or play & miss). This is his highest rate in any Test series and 5% higher than he registered during the 2024 series against West Indies in which he picked up 22 wickets.

  15. Pak 40-2published at 10 overs

Aaaand the next delivery after the drop flies through the gap between the slips and gully. Poor Gus Atkinson.

He's rarely one to show much emotion and there is not a flicker here.

  16. Postpublished at 16:48 BST 10 September

    Phil Tufnell
Former England spinner on Test Match Special

Ben Duckett has to get out of that position. He's just tipping them around the post.

He did get one yesterday, though. This was a nice height but it was travelling.

You should be grabbing hold of those.

  17. dropped catch

Masood dropped on 13published at 16:46 BST 10 September

More bad luck for Gus Atkinson.

An edge from Shan Masood goes quickly to Ben Duckett at third slip and the opener cannot cling on.

    Tough chance.

  18. Pak 33-2published at 9 overs

Ollie Robinson continues for now with things have just settled down a touch. There doesn't seem to be the expectation a wicket is going to fall every ball at least.

  19. Postpublished at 16:41 BST 10 September

    Timothy Abraham
    BBC Sport journalist at Edgbaston

Extremely gloomy at Edgbaston. Dan Lawrence is being told to warm up in the expectation he might be needed sooner rather than later.

  20. Pak 32-2published at 8 overs

No immediate joy for Gus Atkinson as his struggle for wickets continues. I'm still convinced he's bowled alright in the series.
