    We're lucky in the TMS box because we have a window and that made a marvellous sound off the bat.

    Saud Shakeel is just starting to tick. I think you need to give him an over of bouncers because he's not going to duck.

    His drive was one of the best all series from either team.

    Lovely shot from Saud Shakeel, driving Jofra Archer powerfully to the right of cover.

    He then sends Archer's final ball up in the air, but the ball lands safely between the converging fielders at fine and square leg.

  3. Pak 101-3

    Shan Masood denies Ollie Robinson a maiden, sending the final delivery of the over past the cordon for two.

    That takes Pakistan past 100 - a decent recovery having been 14-3.

    Prior to that, Robinson beat the edge of Masood a couple of times, with some good wicket-keeping from Jamie Smith, who is standing up to the stumps.

    Ollie Robinson has taken 21 wickets this summer averaging 8.6.

    I looked at English bowlers in Test summers with at least 10 wickets and it's the second lowest since Tony Lock in 1958 when he averaged 7.4 with 34 wickets from 5 Tests.

    And the only bowler with 10 wickets and a lower average than Robinson currently since then is Phil Tufnell in 1997. One game, 11 for 93 against Australia.

    Nicely done by Saud Shakeel.

    The Pakistan number five gets on top of a Jofra Archer bouncer and swivels to pull it through backward square for four.

    Ollie Robinson is going to come back on at the other end.

    Shan Masood's been hit here on his hand. The last thing Pakistan need is another injury.

    It looks to me like he's got strapping on there already.

    The Pakistan batter runs a single, but the physio is then called on for freeze spray and a bit of taping.

    I was trying to describe to my German (and very non-cricketing wife) why listening to cricket commentary was so comforting and engaging… I couldn’t find a compelling example and then Tuffers said, ‘I’m not sure I would have liked to have been a cat back in the day’ - perfect.

  14. The ground staff are currently wiping surface water off the top of the covers - quite a lot came down there.

    The overhead conditions seem to be a mix of dark cloud and blue skies.

    Pakistan build a good partnership and already the jury’s out for some on the bowling. Other teams are allowed to play well too - that’s what makes Test cricket fun!!

    Excellent counter-attacking innings from Saud Shakeel to take on the English seamers.

    Shakeel has played to his strength of scoring heavily through the off side, in front and behind square. Across his career he usually scored 53% of his runs through that region, on par with the 30 (60%) of his 50 runs in that zone today.

    I've liked this determination from Saud Shakeel with a bit of technique as well. It's his fastest fifty in Test cricket and he's not played the pitch either.
