Good ball to finish from Razaullah Khan, if this is indeed the last over of his spell.

Angled across the left-handed Emilio Gay, a hint of movement and it stays a touch low as well. Just misses the off stump.

The sun is shining now at Edgbaston. Good news for the England batters.

It's curious to see how Babar Azam manages Razaullah. You'd like to think this would be the last over of his spell but you never know.

Emilio Gay is starting to flourish. He has a few fifties and now this is his moment. He has to make sure he capitalises.

Peter, I will simply refer you to my previous incredulous response.

Moving on... Emilio Gay is getting into his stride and adds four more to his tally with a crisp drive through the covers off Razaullah Khan.

Oh dear! Root's form has disappeared altogether. I think I could get him out lbw! Disastrous streak of batting. He needs a good hard look at himself or retire from Test cricket altogether. So sad to see him struggle against mediocre bowling!

I know it's early in Emilio Gay's Test career but his running between the wickets is not the best part of his game.

Mohammad Imran, another of the three debutants, is on for his first bowl in Tests.

He's nowhere near as rapid as Razaullah Khan but he still nearly gets Harry Brook with his first ball. The England man tries to guide the ball behind square but it's too close to him and he nearly chops on.

Brook does get one away behind square a couple of balls later, through the slips for three, the only runs from the over.

That's a really nice shot from Emilio Gay. It's probably an easier shot to play against the pacy Razaullah.

That's over 1,000 career runs against Pakistan for Harry Brook in nine matches. He likes playing against them.

He certainly seems to be, Jake, but so too is Harry Brook.

The England right-hander whips through backward square for four as Razaullah drifts onto the pads and then clobbers a short ball over mid-wicket for four more.

That takes him past 1,000 runs against Pakistan and he drives through mid-off for three to keep that tally moving.

An expensive over ends with another boundary, cut handsomely through backward point by Emilio Gay.

If I may change the subject from slagging off our GOAT, this Razaullah fella looks absolute box office. Really enjoyable to watch.

England are just about in front but they are still 74 behind, so Harry Brook knows they need to get the scoreboard ticking.

    Lovely shot from Emilio Gay.

A slightly weary Muhammad Abbas is into the ninth over of his spell and offers up a short, wide ball that Gay punches through backward point for four.

If Razaullah was at the stumps and the ball had been better then Pakistan had all the time to take the bails off. But the throw was so wild.

Nearly another run out - and this one wouldn't even have been close!

Emilio Gay mistimes a cut towards backward point, sets off for a run and there's a big mix-up with Harry Brook.

They end up having to go for the run and Gay can just be thankful that the throw is off the mark. He was barely in the picture as it whistled past the stumps.

Poor backing up means the left-hander actually gets three for it.

Congratulations, Paul, of the many comments we get sent in, yours moves into first place for the one I most vehemently disagree with.

If we're at the point of calling one of England's greatest ever players an "embarrassment" after a poor run of form - during which time he's still hit a couple of fifties - then I don't really know what we're doing.

Anyway, England take three from Muhammad Abbas' over as Harry Brook's drive is pulled back just before the rope.

Root either needs drop to No 6 or 7. Failing that, someone has to sort out and correct why he is continually getting out lbw. It is at the stage where he is now an embarrasment at No 4.

It was tight. Emilio Gay just about dropped the bat. It's not what you need after the bang on the knee.

I thought that was going to be another one of his unfortunate dismissals.

    Close!

Harry Brook calls Emilio Gay through for a quick single, it's tight and when Shan Masood hits with his shy at the stumps, there is a bit of concern for the England opener.

Had he run his bat in, it would've been comfortable, as it is, he just p plonks his bat down before the ball dislodges the bails.

Another good over from Razaullah Khan. He was bowling in excess of 90mph for much of it.

Ouch! Emilio Gay gets a thick inside edge onto the inside of his knee and is really struggling for a couple of minutes.

He's back on his feet and OK to continue but the pace of Razuallah Khan is causing some problems. Where's he been?!
