Just parking up. Have the lot with me today. Sunglasses, sun cream, jumper and raincoat. Would love to see us bowl this morning. And bat later…

    Paul, Edgbaston

  3. England win the toss and bowl

Joe Root launches the coin high into the air - "it's the highest toss I've ever seen!" says Michael Atherton, who is conducting the toss - and Babar Azam calls "heads".

It comes down tails and Root says England will have a bowl, citing the overhead conditions. The home side are unchanged.

  4. Right then, there are some clouds overhead but it's dry at Edgbaston and it's time for the toss...

  5. Good morning!

The series may already have been decided - a winning start to the second Joe Root era for England - but there is no shortage of intrigue around this third Test.

For a start, Pakistan are turning up with a vastly different squad, not to mention a new head coach. Such extreme change mid-series is unpreceded so who knows what a difference it'll make?!

As for England, with less than a year until the start of the Ashes and a new regime still in its infancy (the new coach hasn't even officially started), every game is important.

Add to that it's the last Test of the English summer so we all need to enjoy it while we can!
