Ollie Robinson has reached 100 Tests wickets in the join-sixth fewest matches for England, having reached the landmark in his 24th Test.

Fastest to 100 wickets for England in Tests (in terms of matches taken):

    16 - George Lohmann (v SA in Johannesburg, 1896)

    17 - Sydney Barnes (v Australia in Sydney, 1912)

19 - Colin Blythe (v SA in Cape Town, 1910)

    19 - Ian Botham (v India at Lord's, 1979)

20 - Bobby Peel (v Australia at The Oval, 1896)

    20 - Maurice Tate (v Australia in Sydney, 1928)

    23 - Derek Underwood (v NZ in Auckland, 1971)

23 - Steve Harmison (v WI at The Oval, 2004)

23 - Graeme Swann (v Pakistan at The Oval, 2010)

    24 - Tony Lock (v NZ in Manchester, 1958)

    24 - Ollie Robinson (v Pakistan in Birmingham, 2026)

It seems very odd now, Matt, but there wasn't much of an outcry when Ollie Robinson was dropped - and it was never really his bowling skills that were in question.

Anyway, he's back now and bowling brilliantly. Just two from his latest over, those runs coming off the edge of Abdullah Shafique's bat.

He nearly has a second wicket with the last ball of the over but Shafique's leave turns out to be a good one - just. Centimetres from hitting the top of off.

How has Ollie Robinson only played 24 Test matches? Bazball was fun to watch (at times) but bowler selections often felt somewhat blinkered and one-dimensional.

Pakistan were bowled out for 72 on this ground in 2010, the third-lowest all-out total in a Test at Edgbaston. Australia were bowled out for 36 in 1902 - and escaped with a draw.

  5. Pak 16-2published at 6 overs

A strangled appeal to end the over as a full, fast delivery from Jofra Archer hits Shan Masood on the pad.

It's sliding down leg on the angle, though, and England opt against a review. Probably wisely.

    Two leg byes.

It's a good catch by the big fast bowler. The smile is back of Jofra Archer's face after the Ben Duckett's dropped catch.

I fear for this Pakistan batting line-up. England are all over them now.

This time it is taken! Josh Tongue was diving to his left and he moved forward as that was played in the air.

Ben Duckett breathes a sigh of relief.

Three balls after being given a life, Azan Awais is gone as he tries to turn the ball to leg, gets a leading edge and the ball loops up.

Josh Tongue is the only fielder in front of square on the leg side and dives forward from mid-on to take the catch.

    Jofra Archer has his wicket.

Jofra Archer looks disappointed. It does carry. It's in, it's out.

That's where the challenge will be for Ben Duckett with all the talk about the size of his hands.

  10. dropped catch

Awais dropped on 9published at 5.2 overs

    Pak 14-1

That should be a second wicket of the morning for England!

Jofra Archer gets the ball to move away sharply off the seam and find Azan Awais edge as he looks to drive.

It goes low to first slip but Ben Duckett can't cling on.

  11. Pak 13-1published at 5 overs

    Excellent over from Ollie Robinson.

A maiden to Azan Awais. Jamie Smith is up to the stumps again and the left-hander struggles to lay bat on ball.

He'll be glad the one time he does, the edge drops well short of the slip cordon.

Congratulations Ollie Robinson! 100 wickets @ 19s. I give him the keys to Margate, and bring on Australia!

  13. Pak 13-1published at 4 overs

Another gorgeous drive from Azan Awais to start Jofra Archer's second over. Even better than the last and it races away to the fence.

That fires Archer up and that is reflected on the speed gun, he's up to 89mph a couple of balls later.

A single to fine leg completes the scoring for the over and Awais will be on strike to face Ollie Robinson for the first time.

Saim Ayub is playing in a first-class match for the first time since October 2025. Facing Ollie Robinson in these conditions meant that dismissal felt like a fait accompli.

Ollie Robinson round the wicket to left-handers this summer:

    58 runs, 187 balls, 10 wickets - 5.80 average, 20% hitting the stumps

  16. Pak 8-1published at 3 overs

Abdullah Shafique faces one ball before Jamie Smith decides to come up to the stumps.

Ollie Robinson proceeds to whistle one just past the right-hander's outside edge to complete a wicket-maiden.

It's an Ollie Robinson masterclass. It's that kind of delivery he does. It's angled and he just tests your technique from ball one when you go out there fresh.

His summer continues. He's absolutely flying along.

Gone this time! Ollie Robinson has his 100th Test wicket.

Considerable movement back in off the seam again for the England bowler to beat Saim Ayub's inside edge.

The left-hander must have thought he got outside the line but not so, ball-tracking confirms, and it was going on to hit the top of leg stump.

    Perfect start for England.
