Somerset will chase 304 at Taunton after Hampshire totalled 303-7 despite figures of 3-54 by Olivia Barnes.

Into the 20th over of the Notts first innings we go and Somerset bring on Jack Leach to bowl some spin.

There's a big appeal for a nick as Leach sends down a straight one and it goes narrowly past the bat of Freddie McCann but the umpire is unmoved.

McCann then gets off strike with a single to mid-on.

They went off for lunch promptly and they've come back out promptly at Scarborough.

Jack White opens the session with a maiden to Rob Yates.

Craig Overton bowls the first over after lunch for Somerset and finds the outside edge of Freddie McCann but it runs to safety through the vacant fourth slip area and Notts pick up a single.

James Coles and John Simpson come out to resume their partnership at Hove and Glamorgan need to find a way to separate them very soon or a tough afternoon may lie ahead.

The Sussex lead is 104 - Coles is 56 not out and Simpson has 23.

It's all over in the first match of the day at the Women's T20 World Cup, with Scotland beating Ireland by 40 runs at Old Trafford.

Ireland were set a target of 162 to win but were bowled out for 121 in 19.1 overs with Kirstie Gordon and Katherine Fraser taking three wickets each.

Next up it's Australia v South Africa on the same ground at 14:30 BST, with West Indies v New Zealand to follow at the Utilita Bowl from 18:30.

Magnificent batting by Warwickshire's Meg Austin, who made 116 off 137 balls against Lancashire - and they are now 251-3 after 44 overs.

Second-placed Surrey are 222-6 in the 47th against The Blaze, with Jemima Spence currently on 54 not out.

Hampshire are 277-7 in the 48th against Somerset following a stand of 98 between Francesca Sweet (57) and Rhianna Southby (53).

Durham, meanwhile, are 260-8 with four overs to go against Essex - Mady Villiers earlier made 76 and Hollie Armitage 69.

Middlesex have had their noses in front ever since losing the toss.

Their resolute defence on the first morning, repeated on the second, is paying full dividends.

All-rounder Sebastian Morgan continues to belie his years, and his calmness with in the final-wicket partnership has steered the away side to a formidable total.

One of Tom Helm's finest first-class hours came in a five-fer on this ground in 2018, the pitch looks made for his pace and bounce to replicate that performance.

Rishi Patel walks off on his own as does the first class debutant Sheridon Sohan Emmanuel Gumbs behind him. And behind him the group of celebrating Essex players.

That wicket has provided a small uptick for Essex going into the break given they would have been a little disappointed with their batting effort this morning.

Had it not been for Simon Harmer, who provided 36 out of the 59 runs as five wicket tumbled they would neither have a fourth batting point or quite as strong a position in this contest.

As it is 401 and one wicket down going to lunch does not sound so bad.

Jordan Cox did his prospects of a start in the second Test no harm at all with 204 before edging to Ben Cox behind the stumps.

It should not be forgotten how well Matt Critchley batted (they shared a partnership of 183 for the fourth wicket yesterday) for his 97 either.

Bowling-wise Rehan Ahmed's 4-102 was significant but probably not the sort of figures that will get him into the England line up.

The last three Somerset wickets added only 15, as Fergus O'Neill mopped up the tail to finish with career-best figures of 6-72.

But any west country disappointment was quickly forgotten as Lewis Gregory removed both the Notts openers with just nine on the board.

Joe Clarke struggled early on, before he and Freddie McCann steadied the ship, although the latter survived a difficult chance to Pretorius off Craig Overton.

Yorkshire’s last four wickets added 83 at six an over this morning.

Whether they could have pushed their total higher on a true pitch with a more conservative approach can make for a good Saturday lunchtime debate, but they did provide high-calorie entertainment for a good Saturday crowd.

Jonny Bairstow picked off three boundaries in Ethan Bamber’s first two overs before driving to extra cover, and when Dom Bess chipped to mid-wicket in the same over the Bears had an opening.

Bamber is presently the leading wicket-taker in the first division with 32.

Hasan Ali was only ever going to counter-attack, greeting Ed Barnard by walloping his first two balls over long-on, and George Hill joined him in the sprint to the fifth batting point comfortably inside the over-limit. They kept swinging, which allowed Manav Suthar to pick up Hill in the 110th over to give the Bears maximum points from the innings too.

Their score of 469 is substantial enough in any game, and looked a little taller still after Alex Davies missed a square cut in Jack White’s first over, then chopped the next ball onto his off-stump as he repeated the stroke.

Rob Yates survived one particularly fervent lbw appeal while keeping Dan Mousley company until lunch.

Where to start with that morning session?!

Despite losing Ben Dawkins with the first ball of their second innings, you have to say Kent are well on top in this match.

The visitors skittled Lancashire for just 87, picking up eight wickets for 70 runs this morning.

And all of a sudden, Kent's first innings score of 178 looks very respectable indeed.

The Kent lead is up at 103 which - in the context of the match and with nine wickets in hand - is a lot bigger than it looks.

Some nice skill from Kent opener Harry Finch, but with his feet.

He blocks from Tom Bailey and it's heading towards his stumps but Finch reacts well to kick it away with his back heel.

It was a foot no-ball so would not have counted if it had hit, but Finch may not have realised until after the event.
