    Essex 219-7 (target 329) v Sussex

It's been a good start for Essex - 22 runs added, no further damage in the wickets column.

Sussex spinner James Coles is already on and finding a bit of turn, but Matt Critchley (75*) and Mitch Killeen are looking solid in defence.

  2. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 10:54 BST 5 September

A let off for Adam Hose. Confusion in the Kent cordon.

Hose should be out really. Matt Milnes fines a beauty, Hose can't help but offer a push and it flies low to Zak Crawley's right.

Before he has the chance to react properly Tawanda Muyeye dives across in front of him, gets good hands to it but can't hold on.

It's grassed. Milnes throws his head back.

Crawley's catch you'd think. Muyeye has to make it if he goes for it...but didn't.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 10:50 BST 5 September

    Holland c Patterson-White b Pennington 6 (Notts 451-8 dec v Leics 259-8)

    Five wickets for Dillon Pennington!

It's an absolute beauty as the Notts paceman gets one to jag away from Ian Holland off a length and he can only snick it to first slip.

Leicestershire still need another 43 to avoid the follow-on.

  4. 100 runs

100 up for Worcestershirepublished at 10:49 BST 5 September

The road is long for the Pears but they're at three figures now as they continue to bat against this Kent attack and the clock.

Adam Hose and Brett D'Olivira are worth 66 now as their tall-and-not-quite-as-tall double act moves along.

Hose extends his considerable frame a few more centimeters as he goes on to his toes to ride the bounce of one outside the off stump from Grant Stewart and guide the ball nicely down to vacant deep third for four.

    Hose up to 38.

  5. 50 runs

50 for Miles Hammondpublished at 10:46 BST 5 September

    Glos 237 & 166-3 v Derbyshire 278

Miles Hammond collects the four runs he needed from his overnight total to reach a half-century.

It came in 100 balls with five fours and a six.

James Bracey is at the other end on 11 not out with the duo adding 17 so far this morning.

  6. 250 runs

250 up for Durhampublished at 10:44 BST 5 September

    Northants 263 v Durham 205 & 251-8

Durham have crept past 250 after that loss of Matt Potts.

The lead is 193 - they'll want it beyond 200 for sure.

  7. Postpublished at 10:40 BST 5 September

    Essex 206-7 (target 329) v Sussex

It looks a fine day for batting at Chelmsford...

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 10:40 BST 5 September

    Potts b Chahal 8 (Northants 263 v Durham 205 & 249-8)

    Early breakthrough.

Classic Chahal. Tossed up, drifty, pitch leg, hit middle and off.

    Potts done for.

Seven in the match for Yuzvendra Chahal.

That's tough to play to be fair.

  9. Postpublished at 10:38 BST 5 September

    Essex 205-7 (target 329) v Sussex

A good first over for Essex as Matt Critchley flicks a full toss from Ari Karvelas through mid-wicket to the rope.

Eight off the over in total and the hosts need 124 more to win.

    Critchley is up to 69.

  10. Under way at Canterburypublished at 10:33 BST 5 September

    Kent 238 & 358 v Worcestershire 217 & 84-3

Oh what a beautiful morning - someone should make a song out of that.

The St Lawrence Ground doesn't need a lot of help to look lovely but the sun's in its Saturday best as Grant Stewart opens up.

He's pretty much on the money in his first over too. A bit of shape. A single to Brett D'Oliveira.

    Just another 293 for Worcestershire...

  12. Can bottom side Glos pick up second win of season?published at 10:28 BST 5 September

    Glos 237 & 149-3 v Derbyshire 278 - Glos lead by 108 runs

We should be in for a good day's cricket in Bristol with this contest set up nicely going into day four.

Gloucestershire start with a lead of 108 and will look to push that up to a defendable total before having a crack at bowling Derbyshire out you would think.

It's been a largely forgettable season for the hosts and their supporters with Glos sitting bottom of Division Two so with very little to lose they may as well have a good old go today and aim to secure just a second win of the season.

  13. Kent need seven more wicketspublished at 10:27 BST 5 September

    Kent 238 & 358 v Worcestershire 217 & 84-3

At Canterbury, Kent are firm favourites to close out a win that would maintain their promotion push and surely end Worcestershire's.

The Pears lost their way a touch yesterday as Sam Northeast and Co took the home side's total out beyond 350 on a pitch that is still offering some help to the seamers.

Tom Taylor's flurry to finally help wrap that up set an academic-looking target of 380 - or four sessions to survive.

That looked unlikely when Matt Milnes helped reduced the Pears to 39-3 but skipper Brett D'Oliveira and Adam Hose recovered things with a stand of 45 and will hope to lead the rearguard for as long as possible today.

  14. Durham and Northants set for tense finishpublished at 10:25 BST 5 September

    Northants 263 v Durham 205 & 246-7

An absorbing contest between two sides that have proved well matched over the last three days is, rightly, heading for an exciting finish (fingers crossed!)

Division Two leaders Durham will hope today is when their plan - hatched at the toss when they chose to bat first and avoid chasing on the final day - all comes together.

They'll want a few more than the 188 already in the bank but setting Northants - desperate for a promotion-boosting win themselves - the highest score of the match (current their first innings 263) on a turning pitch will be the minimum.

Luke Proctor's late burst yesterday, when he put himself on a hat-trick, kept Northants in with a shout.

But how strong that ends up may well depend on how quickly they can take the three remaining wickets in Durham's second innings.

  15. Postpublished at 10:23 BST 5 September

    Essex 177 & 197-7 v Sussex 275 & 230

The equation at Chelmsford is pretty simple...

Sussex need three wickets, Essex require 132 runs.

Matt Critchley is likely to be the key for the hosts - the all-rounder is unbeaten on 63 - but Sussex are heavy favourites.

  16. Can Notts enforce follow-on?published at 10:21 BST 5 September

    Notts 451-8 dec v Leics 250-7

With title rivals Somerset and Warwickshire both winning on Friday, Nottinghamshire will be determined to pick up Leicestershire's last three first-innings wicket before they reach 302 and make them follow-on.

The Foxes will be desperate to hang on for the draw and pick up some extra points as they fight to avoid relegation.

An intriguing morning awaits at Trent Bridge.

  18. The final day awaits...published at 10:17 BST 5 September

    Morning all,

We started with nine and now there were five.

Another day of epic moments came along yesterday with Surrrey's incredible and tense one-wicket win over Yorkshire at The Oval.

That breathed new life into the Brown Caps' hopes of staying up, but who will puff up their chances of taking the title?

Warwickshire and Somerset both threw the (wicketkeeper's) gauntlet down to leaders Nottinghamshire with impressive wins over Hampshire and Glamorgan respecitively.

So can Notts respond against Leicestershire at Trent Bridge? They have a bit to do but are just over 200 runs ahead with three Foxes first innings wickets to take.

In Division Two, there's a tense finish brewing at Wantage Road between promotion contenders Northamptonshire and leaders Durham, with Kent well placed to finish off Worcestershire and maintain their own chances of a top-two place.

    Another crazy day beckons.

But we know you can handle it.
