I’m surprised you haven’t mentioned that Notts failed to get 3 bowling points! This is very important for us Somerset fans!

    Nigel, Suffolk

After wins for their teams yesterday, a lot of Somerset and Warwickshire fans will be watching developments at Trent Bridge very closely today

    Notts 451-8 dec v Leics 295-9

Nottinghamshire can't find a way through this last-wicket pair of Josh Davey and Tom Scriven.

Leicestershire only need seven to avoid the follow-on and probably guarantee a draw.

  3. Postpublished at 11:28 BST 5 September

    Essex 269-8 (target 329) v Sussex

    And another max!

It's a wonderful shot from Shane Snater as he skips down the pitch to Jack Carson and biffs him straight into the sightscreen.

60 needed and Snater is on to 34. Some innings this from the Essex number 10.

  4. Cracking final day in prospect at Wantage Roadpublished at 11:27 BST 5 September

Northants need 204 to beat Durham

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Northants opener Ricardo Vasconcelos has just got himself stumped in the second innings of their run chase. I really have no idea what he was thinking but it was certainly a rush of blood to the head.

He came down the trick to try and smash Callum Parkinson into next week but got nowhere near the ball. He's out for five.

There was absolutely no reason to play such a shot because they got off to a flyer in their bid to inflict Durham's first defeat of the season. Chasing 204 to win in 83 overs, the first over from Matty Potts went for 10.

There's still plenty in the pitch for the bowlers though, as long as they bowl with control. Northants spinner Yuzvendra Chahal took three wickets this morning to finish with figures of 5-84.

We have a cracking final day in prospect and this one is too close to call at the moment. Can Northants hold their nerve or will the leaders prove too much for them?

    Oh hello?!

Matt Critchley greets Jack Carson with a mighty six into the leg-side.

The Essex all-rounder moves onto 85.

    Essex 256-8 (target 329) v Sussex

Essex are giving themselves a chance of victory here.

Shane Snater moves to 28 with an edge off left-arm spinner James Coles that bounces past slip and down to the fence.

Matt Critchley has been a lot more serene - he's 79 not out.

    73 runs still needed...

    Glos 237 & 213-3 v Derbyshire 278

Miles Hammond (77*) and James Bracey (34*) have pushed Gloucestershire past 200 and their lead up to 172.

No joy for Derbyshire's bowlers in the opening stages in Bristol.

Vasconcelos st Robinson b Parkinson 5

A rush. A miss. A bit too excited?

Callum Parkinson is chuffed to bits. He's drawn Ricardo Vasconcelos down the track with a loopy one.

The left-handers got for it big time, missed it and Ollie Robinson does the rest.

Not sure that was a necessary rish this early from the Northants man - especially after his fast start.

    Notts 451-8 dec v Leics 289-9

Nottinghamshire paceman Olly Stone is looking rapid this morning, but the hosts still can't break this last-wicket stand between Tom Scriven and Josh Davey at Trent Bridge.

13 runs required to avoid the follow-on.

  11. Northants make positive start to chasepublished at 11:19 BST 5 September

    Northants 10-0 & 263 v Durham 205 & 261

    Have that.

Ricardo Vasconcelos drills Matt Potts' first ball of the innings perfectly through mid-on.

Holds the pose a touch. We can all see the maker's name.

It was in the slot I suppose, but that's a picture of a shot.

Luke Proctor gets in on the act too to ball number four. Too close to the left-hander's pads from Potts and it's timed like a dream through square leg.

    TEN off the first over.

    Intent from Northants.

    204 the target.

  12. Postpublished at 11:12 BST 5 September

    Notts 451-8 dec v Leics 279-9

Leicestershire's last-wicket pair of Tom Scriven and Josh Davey are edging their side towards the follow-on target of 302.

Nottinghamshire will not want to have to bat again as it'll take crucial time out of the game on this final day.

  13. Postpublished at 11:11 BST 5 September

    Essex 240-8 (target 329) v Sussex

    Bosh!

Shane Snater swipes James Coles over mid-wicket for a maximum.

Coles replies with a turner that spins past the bat and over the stumps.

Six off the over and Essex need 89 more runs for victory. Two wickets for the visitors.

    Parkinson c Sanderson b Chahal 8

Durham are done. Chahal has five and nine in the match!

The India start gives this loads of air, Callum Parkinson gives it a whack. Straight to mid on.

    Northants need 204.

Hose lbw b Hasan Mahmud 38

    Six more for Kent.

That looks pretty out. Adam Hose plays around one from Hasan Mahmud that crashes into his back leg.

He's bang in front. Height is the only thing. Umpire Sue Redfern takes her time but gives the signal and Hose has to go.

  16. Postpublished at 11:04 BST 5 September

    Essex 232-8 (target 329) v Sussex

Shane Snater is no mug with the bat.

Spinner James Coles drops one short and Snater smacks him through point.

Snater then finds the rope for the second time in the over - this one a lot more streaky as he flashes the ball to the third-man boundary.

Less than 100 to get for Essex now - 97 needed.

    Robinson lbw Chahal 5 (Northants 263 v Durham 205 & 260-9)

Big sweep. Big miss. Big shout.

Yuzvendra Chahal gets one to straighten as Ollie Robinson gets out the broom.

He misses and is struck in front of off stump. It's the straight one. It's more clever stuff from Chahal who has eight in the match now.

    Durham's lead 202.

    Breakthrough for Sussex...

Mitch Killeen gets a thin edge off Ari Karvelas and John Simpson takes a fine tumbling catch behind the stumps.

Essex are eight down with 106 runs still needed for victory as Shane Snater comes in at 10.

    Out... and plumb.

Tom Giles, who came into the game as a replacement for Brett Hutton, picks up his third wicket of the innings with an in-ducker that hits Ben Cox on the pad.

Up goes the finger and Leicestershire are nine down. 43 runs still needed to avoid the follow-on.
