    Durham v Worcs 31-1 (target 253)

Worcestershire lost Jake Libby to Ben Raine before the interval but the game still feels in the balance.

222 more runs needed for the Pears... if the rain can hold off after lunch.

  2. Lunch at Grace Roadpublished at 12:35 BST 18 September

Leicestershire 267-4 (target 334 to beat Hampshire)

The Hampshire wheels are coming off a little here as they face the prospect of defeat and relegation.

Too full from Manny Lumsden and Ben Cox drives down the ground for four.

Full again from Lumsden and driven to long on by Cox for four more.

He's on 46. Lumsden responds with a wild bouncer.

    A wide is awarded.

Two more runs off the fourth ball - and Cox moves to 49 with a single flicked into the leg side after that.

An attempted yorker flies off an inside edge past the stumps for four.

An eventful session of play ends with Leicestershire warmly applauded off the field.

Very much game on here for the hosts - who picked up 16 runs off the last over of the session and need another 67 this afternoon.

  3. Lunch at The Ovalpublished at 12:34 BST 18 September

Surrey 291-4 - target 612 to beat Glamorgan

Glamorgan thought they'd made the game and their first division status safe when batting on, in their second innings to take the target beyond 600.

But a dominant morning by Surrey has meant the world record run chase could still be on.

It is a little less likely as Ryan Patel fell from the last ball before lunch for 132 having shared in stands of 167 with Ollie Pope and 78 with Dan Lawrence.

With Glamorgan having become more defensive to that point the required rate had crept up to nearly 5 an over so it's still a long shot for Surrey... but not out of the question.

Come on you foxes! As we know, its the hope that kills you, and a win would make that points deduction feel even harsher

    Mark, London

Great fight from Leicestershire, could it come down to the points deduction appeal?

    Tom, Rutland

I went to bed thinking Hampshire actually had a small survival chance. How wrong I am currently being proved!

    Zac, Valencia

  5. Lunch at Hovepublished at 12:32 BST 18 September

Sussex 48-2 - target 76 to beat Notts

And that expensive over for Notts with 11 from it is the last action of the morning session.

Sussex's sandwiches will taste all the better in the knowledge they are on the cusp of victory over the defending champions.

The home side need just 28 more runs to win once they return to the middle.

  6. Postpublished at 12:31 BST 18 September

Sussex 48-2 - target 76 to beat Notts

Fine shot through the covers by Charlie Tear to pick up three more off Olly Stone.

George Thomas keeps the scoreboard ticking with a single into the off-side before Tear does likewise.

Thomas makes the most of a misfield to add three and then it's three more through the off-side for Tear.

An expensive over for Notts with 11 from it and Sussex are within 28 runs of victory.

  7. Gloucs heading to defeatpublished at 12:31 BST 18 September

    Gloucs 77-6 (target 392) v Middlesex

Gloucestershire are heading to a 10th Division Two loss of a hugely disappointing season.

Middlesex have been relentless with the ball - Toby Roland-Jones picking up three wickets including the key ones of Miles Hammond and James Bracey.

The only thing that might save the hosts is that rain is on its way to Bristol.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:30 BST 18 September

    Patel c Kellaway b Hamza 132 (Surrey 291-4 - target 612 to beat Glamorgan)

A breakthrough right on lunch for Glamorgan who had appeared to be drifting.

Ryan Patel miss times a drive off Mir Hamza and Ben Kellway takes a brilliant diving catch at backward point.

  9. Postpublished at 12:28 BST 18 September

Leicestershire 251-4 (target 334 to beat Hampshire)

The innings 250 arrives in the 78th over via a drive through cover by Nick Kelly off Felix Organ.

Three runs off that over altogether.

Leicestershire need 83 to complete a record chase against Hampshire on this ground.

What might have been for Yorkshire this season if the top of the batting order had performed at all...

    Neil - Aberford, Leeds

Yorkshire really just need to sort their batting out; bowling attack has strength in depth but too many times the top order folds. I'd like to see Bennison brought in for the final game and give him some vital county championship experience!

    Sam - Leeds

No regular top 6 batter averaging more than 28. If Yorkshire can sort that over Winter, the bowling attack is in a really good place now. Probably the end of an era with Adam Lyth, could see Bairstow going white ball/franchise too so work to be done.

    Dave - York

  11. 50 runs

50 for Nick Kellypublished at 12:26 BST 18 September

Leicestershire 248-4 (target 334 to beat Hampshire)

Nick Kelly faces spinner Felix Organ on 49.

One slip in. Floated up and driven down the ground for one.

The 50 comes off 104 balls with six fours.

That's his second 50 of the season for Leicestershire. The other one was converted into 121 here against Yorkshire in June.

  12. Postpublished at 12:26 BST 18 September

Sussex 37-2 - target 76 to beat Notts

Four more singles for Sussex from Brett Hutton's over.

The hosts don't really need to do much more than that to be honest, with so few runs to get and so much time to get them.

George Thomas is onto 22, Charlie Tear has seven.

Sussex need 39 more runs for victory.

Leicestershire have slowly chipped away at this total of 334, which would be a record chase against Hampshire at Grace Road, and one of their biggest ever successful chases.

Ben Cox and Nick Kelly have batted with real discipline, not in their usual busy style. They have run really well between the wickets, but punished the bad balls too.

Their partnership is more than 50, the more it goes on, the chances of a Hampshire win ebb away.

They're trying to up the ante a tad with six overs before the new ball, trying to get the deficit under 100 before Abbott, Fuller and Currie et al get their hands on some shiny leather.

There are people starting to get excited at Grace Road, but the key period of this chase is coming once the 80-over mark arrives shortly.

  14. Postpublished at 12:23 BST 18 September

Leicestershire 247-4 (target 334 to beat Hampshire)

Nick Kelly nudges a single off Manny Lumsden leg side to move to 49.

Three overs till the second new ball. Could be a moment.

  15. Postpublished at 12:23 BST 18 September

Leicestershire 246-4 (target 334 to beat Hampshire)

Short from Manny Lumsden. Nick Kelly pulls behind square for one.

Ben Cox drives and misses on the back foot. Still encouragement for Hampshire here despite the flow of runs and just the one wicket this morning.

Ben Cox gets a two nudged to fine leg.

Now Cox goes back to push a tight single down the ground.

A short ball is cut behind point by Nick Kelly! Four! He's on 48.

Such a capitulation from Somerset. So disappointing. You have to question the mentality of a team challenging for the title who can turn a winning position into a dismal defeat.

    Phil, Chippenham

I'm broken, Somerset fan since the 80s. Why can't we just get over the line.

    Tom, London

Said last week Warks were more of a threat to Somerset than Notts... why couldn't this rain-sodden island manage to provide 2 weeks of precipitation when we really needed it??

    Bernard, York

  17. Postpublished at 12:19 BST 18 September

Leicestershire 238-4 (target 334 to beat Hampshire)

Felix Organ bowls down the leg side to Nick Kelly.

One leg bye. Ben Cox goes back, pushing leg side for no run.

The last ball is tossed up wide outside off but Kelly doesn't get the ball away.

With 130+years of failure (and 6 recent runners-ups finishes) weighing all too heavily, the Somerset team are playing against themselves as much as against today's opponents. And as usual the pressure brought by awareness of so many past implosions has been just too much.

    John, Somerset

Somerset so consistent, while the likes of Lancs, Essex, Warks, Notts and Surrey have bounced around from Div 1 title winners to relegation (or coming close). Frustrating!

    Steve, Exeter

It's as if Somerset don't actually want to win the championship

    Ed, Taunton

  19. Postpublished at 12:15 BST 18 September

Sussex 30-2 - target 76 to beat Notts

Three from the latest over by Olly Stone as Sussex continue to tick along towards what feels like an inevitable victory in Hove this afternoon.

Just another 46 runs needed to win and seriously damage Nottinghamshire's title hopes.

  20. Postpublished at 12:15 BST 18 September

Leicestershire 237-4 (target 334 to beat Hampshire)

Nick Kelly is a bit cramped facing a short ball from Manny Lumsden but keeps the ball down into the leg side safely.

Another bumper is fended to fine leg for one.

    The gap drops below 100.

Single to Ben Cox, riding the bounce and tapping the ball leg side.

Single to Nick Kelly off another short ball flicked leg side.
