    One Yorkshireman replaces another.

Here's Leeds local and Coventry fan Josh Inglis, back in the team after Steve Smith's injury.

    Renshaw c Rickelton b Jansen 74 (SA 184-3)

Massive spike! The South Africa fans roar. Matt Renshaw has run it off the face of the bat as he tried to lift a Marco Jansen bouncer over the keeper.

Jansen, fresh from climbing to the top of the world bowling rankings, does strike.

Renshaw is one for the Stuart Broad club of non-walkers.

  3. South Africa reviewpublished at 12:52 GMT 28 October

What's this?! It sounded like a regulation nick behind from Matt Renshaw as he played an upper cut.

But the umpire has said no...

  4. Aus 184-2published at 49 overs

The Green-Harmer contest also continues to be intriguing but, with the one slip the only close catchers, there does not appear much threat of Green getting out.

  5. Aus 183-2published at 48 overs

    Renshaw 74, Green 64

Green takes another on the body from Jansen as the battle of the towering all-rounders resumes. Regular readers may remember I once claimed I'd eat a hat if Green did not take 20 wickets in the 2023 Ashes. He did not and as much as I have been impressed by him today I will not be making similar statements again.

  6. Aus 181-2published at 47 overs

And now Matt Renshaw gets the reverse sweep out as his confidence continues to grow. South Africa need something like what Mitchell Starc did yesterday but it just doesn't look like happening at the moment.

Australia's going to be glad that the only two relatively young players in their side are actually getting runs...

  8. Aus 175-2published at 46 overs

    Renshaw 68, Green 61

Jansen brings a bit of bite as he hits Cameron Green on the body with a bouncer. Green, though, is playing in a mature fashion. He just lets the next ball go rather than letting the pumping blood get to him.

  9. Postpublished at 12:34 GMT 28 October

Ah. Here he is. Marco Jansen back into the attack right on cue.

He became the world's top-ranked bowler and all-rounder this week. South Africa need something.

  10. Aus 174-2published at 45 overs

Marco Jansen has not bowled since lunch. One to keep an eye on.

  11. Aus 171-2published at 12:30 GMT 28 October

Who could come in for Labuschagne? Nathan McSweeney has played Test cricket before and is a good performer in domestic cricket. You may have seen Sam Konstas has just made back-to-back hundreds.

Simon Harmer bowls a second maiden in a row to Cameron Green to squeeze the pressure a touch.

Good series this, can't understand Australia not using Renshaw to open earlier and sticking with Labuschagne?! They'll fix their batting order in time for Ashes '27 - Typical!

  13. Aus 171-2published at 43 overs

Matt Renshaw looks to have plenty of time as he opens the face to guide Wiaan Mulder for four through gully. Soft hands. Good batting.

  14. Aus 163-2published at 42 overs

Simon Harmer's latest is a maiden of off-spin. One ball keeps low to Cameron Green.

Perhaps Australia will need a lead if batting is going to get tricky in the fourth innings.

  15. Aus 163-2published at 41 overs

We shouldn't forget Matt Renshaw was born in Middlesbrough. His and Joe Root's dads played cricket together in Yorkshire.

    South Africa need a wicket.

Australia will be very happy with this at the halfway mark of the day.

  17. Aus 163-2published at 40 overs

    Renshaw 58, Green 59

Matt Renshaw has flicked off his pads nicely. A few of those boundaries to the left-hander's third man were edges but there have been drives in there too.

His partnership with Cameron Green is now worth more than 100 and Australia have got through unscathed in the hour since lunch.

I reckon we are going to be seeing a lot of Matt Renshaw for Australia at the top of the order in the next few years. They have been searching and searching for solid opener. Having made 190 at number five in the first Test of this series, he has looked at home back at the top today.

  19. 50 runs

And Matt Renshaw gets to the same landmark a ball later. He has taken 101 runs, compared to Green's 65.

  20. 50 runs

50 for Cameron Greenpublished at 11:57 GMT 28 October

Most seem to think he got a life with that review of a catch but Cameron Green has still done well to get to fifty.
