  1. Aus 58-2published at 20 overs

Simon Harmer has Cameron Green in his sights now, playing his first game of the series. He just about survives a maiden.

    No pressure...

  2. Aus 58-2published at 19 overs

    A maiden from Wiaan Mulder.

Simon Harmer's over has turned this on its head (sorry, Travis).

South Africa were all over Marnus Labuschagne there, sensing his vulnerability, and it worked brilliantly. They're buzzing now.

Echoes of yesterday's day, though South Africa's openers dominated for longer.

    Labuschagne c Markram b Harmer 0 (Aus 58-2)

    Would you believe it?!

He was under pressure, there was so much debate around his place in Australia's side... and he's gone for a five-ball duck.

It's a long, slow trudge off the field for Marnus Labuschagne, who nervously prods outside the off stump and Aiden Markram takes a simple catch at slip.

  4. Aus 58-1published at 17.3 overs

    Eeek.

Labuschagne nudges the ball nervously into the leg side and it drops just short of the fielder at short mid-wicket.

Plenty of chatter from the South Africans all of a sudden!

    Now then, Marnus Labuschagne...

    Head b Harmer 41 (Aus 58-1)

    Simon Harmer strikes first ball!

Travis Head looks to be aggressive against the spinner, trying to punch off the back foot, but he drags it on to his stumps instead and throws away a positive start.

He falls for 41 off 49 balls, and South Africa are understandably thrilled to see the back of him. He looked in one of his moods.

  7. Aus 58-0published at 17 overs

Copy and paste, Travis Head whacks it through point, etc.

Again, though, it's just a single as Wiaan Mulder sensibly has someone out on the boundary.

  8. Aus 57-0published at 16 overs

A quieter over from Gerald Coetzee but with just over an hour gone, it already looks like South Africa left at least 100 runs out there yesterday.

Many batters made the mistake of getting in and throwing their wickets away. Travis Head and Matt Renshaw have done the first bit...

  9. Aus 56-0published at 15 overs

Good advice, Steven. And timely, as Travis Head does whack one there - but South Africa have put a sweeper out so it just goes for one.

He does punch another one for four through the covers, though...

  11. Aus 51-0published at 14 overs

    Blimey.

Travis Head is starting to look like the version of him that we saw throughout last winter (sorry for the reminder, England fans).

He hammers Gerald Coetzee through the covers for four, with such power it's like he has a personal vendetta against that ball.

The next is upper cut for four more, and brings up the 50 partnership. They've cruised there.

This has been an excellent series that's had everything. Weather. Grit. Flair. Renshaw's best. Bavuma's best. Boland coming in and being left out. Starc reminding Australia of his worth. Whoever wins this has been a great advertisement for the best format of cricket.

Wiaan Mulder replaces Kagiso Rabada and in his usual way, immediately hones in on a good line and length and concedes just a single.

  14. Aus 41-0published at 12 overs

Good response from Coetzee, testing Matt Renshaw with a maiden. The last ball nips back in and beats Renshaw's defence, so there is still something out there for the bowlers if they can get it right.

This is every ball from Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen in the first 10 overs.

Too short and a bit too wide from South Africa's opening pair to the two left-handers?

  16. Aus 41-0published at 11 overs

This opening session is repeating yesterday's so far.

It looks like a glorious day for batting, as Travis Head plays a stunning cover drive for four off Rabada.

I fancy the look of this opening pair. Time Marnus made a big one!

  18. Aus 37-0published at 10 overs

Change of bowling, as Gerald Coetzee replaces Marco Jansen.

Travis Head looks keen to take him on, crashing the second ball of the over for four but then he gets in a bit of a tangle against a shorter one, nearly dragging it on to the stumps.

  19. Aus 32-0published at 9 overs

    Ouch.

Matt Renshaw misjudges a bouncer from Kagiso Rabada and is pinned on the shoulder. He shakes it off with a wry smile.

This has been a very good start from Australia. Exactly what they needed.
