  1. Tea at Headingleypublished at 15:36 BST 8 September

    Yorkshire 147-5 v Essex

A chastening session of play comes to an end for Yorkshire, who lost five wickets inside of nine overs to an Essex attack missing Sam Cook and Simon Harmer - and this after an opening stand of 121.

    How this game has changed.

Hamza b Suthar 0 (Glamorgan 69 all out v Warks)

It takes left-arm spinner Manav Suthar just three balls to bring Glamorgan's first innings to an end as he bowls last man Mir Hamza through the gate for a duck.

Having opted to bat first after winning the toss, the Welsh county last just 26.3 overs after their top order was swept aside by Ethan Bamber in a devastating spell of 5-28.

Ed Barnard then weighed in with three wickets to hasten Glamorgan's demise and it is now a case of looking to their bowlers to save a bit of face in the final session.

Tea will be taken before Warwickshire begin their reply.

  3. Postpublished at 15:35 BST 8 September

    Glamorgan 69-9 v Warks

Warwickshire decide that an over or two of spin is necessary as Manav Suthar is brought into the attack. The phrase 'gilding the lily' comes to mind.

  4. 250 runs

250 up for Nottspublished at 15:34 BST 8 September

    Notts 253-6 v Hampshire

Liam Patterson-White has done a great job for Notts this season with bat and ball and the left-hander brings up the 250 with an excellent back foot push for four off Eddie Jack.

And next ball, he pulls Jack through the legside for four more.

Notts now have one batting point. With Patterson-White around, the home side will hope for one or two more.

  5. Postpublished at 15:33 BST 8 September

    Durham 162-9 v Middlesex

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

"Nobody's gone on to a decent total here."

Indeed. Three Durham players passed 20 with none reaching 50.

  6. Postpublished at 15:32 BST 8 September

    Glamorgan 65-9 v Warks

A smattering of applause as Jamie McIlroy deflects a ball from Olly Hannon-Dalby down to third man for a Glamorgan boundary.

Not a lot to smile about for Welsh cricket followers this afternoon.

    Ackermann c Duke b Morgan 34 - Durham 162-9 v Middlesex

An aircraft can be heard buzzing somewhere over Chester-le-Street as Durham lose their ninth.

Seb Morgan had only just come back into the attack.

Colin Ackermann has fenced that to Harry Duke for the keeper's fifth catch.

Ben Raine is waiting for number 11 Callum Parkinson.

  8. Tea at Old Traffordpublished at 15:30 BST 8 September

    Lancashire v Glos 86-4

Gloucestershire batters Miles Hammond and Kamran Dhariwal make it through to tea with no more incidents.

Some testing conditions and on-off cricket is never easy, so it's probably not far off 50-50 in terms of the balance of power.

George Balderson's three wickets are the highlight for Lancashire so far.

  9. Postpublished at 15:28 BST 8 September

    Yorkshire 145-5 v Essex

The sun is out at Headingley and ordinarily these would be ideal batting conditions.

But Essex have seized the initiatives with quick wickets after an opening stand of 121.

George Hill pulls his bat inside the line - facing Shane Snater.

Hill gets a thick edge in front of square on the leg side. No run.

    Maiden over.

  10. Tea at Grace Roadpublished at 15:27 BST 8 September

    Leicestershire v Somerset 173-0 off 33 overs

What a session for wannabe first time ever champs Somerset.

This superbly stylish and effective opening partnership continues to impress massively making you wonder why Jason Kerr did not entrust Josh Thomas up top with Tom Lammonby far before this block of fixtures whilst running through almost every other possible partnership.

Barely a chance given, classy runs stroked all around the ground and neither the seamers nor their international spinner have found a way to stifle the scoring yet.

5.24 an emphatic scoring rate from the away side.

  11. wicket

    Aitchison b Foreman 1 (Derbys 172-7 v Kent)

Bertie Foreman does not turn it much, Ben Aitchison should know that from research back to his many Sussex performances in the T20 Blast as a teenager.

But he plays for turn and is bowled onto off stump past his outside edge.

Central Districts and former Somerset seamer Brett Randell in ahead of the spinners at nine, he was playing for Honley in the Huddersfield League this summer waiting for his next county call up.

Can Derbyshire last until tea now?

Martin Andersson is running out of batting partners.

  12. wicket

    Clarke c Brown b Currie 105 (Notts 249-6 v Hampshire)

    Joe Clarke goes!

Not long after reaching three figures and he is undone by some good bowling from Scott Currie.

He is tempted to drive and there is good movement away from the bat and it's a fifth catch behind the stumps for Ben Brown.

But Clarke is generously applauded off by the Trent Bridge spectators. From 20-2, through 166 balls, he has guided Notts to a more than competitive total.

  13. wicket

Van der Gugten lbw Barnard 0 (Glamorgan 61-9 v Warks)

Timm van der Gugten's innings lasts just 10 balls as Ed Barnard has him lbw to claim his third wicket of this Glamorgan innings.

Mir Hamza comes out to bat at number 11 in only the 25th over. This will probably be over very soon.

  14. wicket

    Carse c Gohar b Higgins 1 - Durham 161-8 v Middlesex

Brydon Carse is in at nine for Durham and his innings is over after just eight balls.

    Ryan Higgins strikes.

Carse drives and edges to Zafar Gohar at point.

    Ben Raine is in next.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:19 BST 8 September

    Crane lbw b Hannon-Dalby 8 (Glamorgan 61-8 v Warks)

The first wicket taken by a bowler whose initials are not EB.

Olly Hannon-Dalby continues Glamorgan's decline as Mason Crane tries to flick the ball to square leg, but makes no contact and adjudged leg before.

The home side may now be wishing that the rain which prevented play before lunch had continued all day.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:19 BST 8 September

    Guest lbw b Mahmud 11 (Derbys 171-6 v Kent)

Perhaps the easiest of the four lbw decisions given to the Bangladeshi seamers today.

Again it stays a bit low, September used surfaces probably to blame for that.

Hasan Mahmud with his third, his second lbw and his first since the first over of the match.

Bowling all-rounder Ben Aitchison in at eight ahead of the tail; two spinners and Brett Randell.

    Notts 238-5 v Hampshire

Division One's leading run-scorer extends his advantage at the top of that chart, but far, far, more importantly, he brings up a superb landmark in his side's quest to retain the County Championship.

From 20-3 early this morning on a very green pitch, Joe Clarke has done a sterling job for Notts.

It is his fourth of the summer and what do you want when on 99? A low full toss outside off-stump is probably up there and he is able to steer it through the offside to move to 103.

This knock has taken 159 balls and it is putting Notts in a terrific position.

  18. Postpublished at 15:17 BST 8 September

    Leicestershire v Somerset 156-0

Jonny Tattersall, formerly of Yorkshire, is keeping in place of Ben Cox as the former Worcestershire man is off the field.

No official announcement as to why yet, as things seem to be going from bad to worse for Leicestershire fans who had such an enjoyable first two thirds of the season with positive Championship and One-Day Cup results.

  19. Another 50 for Tom Lammonbypublished at 15:14 BST 8 September

    Leicestershire v Somerset 150-0

Third 50 for Tom Lammonby on the trot after an August List-A spell of 50s too.

93 at Hove in the second innings sealing the rain-affected draw.

95 (for three you could argue with the two Dan Douthwaite no balls, albeit the first not his fault) v Glamorgan at Taunton in the first dig last week.

And now showing all his class again, even whipping out the late cut/dab for four already now as these two keep caressing it around Grace Road.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:14 BST 8 September

    Aldridge c Duke b Higgins 4 - Durham 157-7 v Middlesex

A loose defensive push from Kasey Aldridge and that's been edged to keeper Harry Duke.

Ryan Higgins has his second wicket of the innings and Brydon Carse to bat next.
