    Glamorgan 69 v Warks 18-0

A long half volley from Mir Hamza and Rob Yates strokes it elegantly to the extra cover boundary.

The BBC commentary team are doubtful that we will get the full 32 overs remaining after this one with the light expected to close in.

  2. Postpublished at 16:26 BST 8 September

    Derbys 215-7 v Kent

Bertie Foreman has three catchers in around the bat for Brett Randell, a testament to how well he has bowled without massive turn on day three.

Randell hits him for three, visibly gutted it did not go for four, he wears his heart on his sleeve Randell, a passionate kiwi as you would expect, great to see.

  3. Postpublished at 16:24 BST 8 September

    Glamorgan 69 v Warks 10-0

Big appeal by Timm van der Gugten against Warwickshire's Will Young but nothing doing from the umpire. "It definitely hit the bat second," says BBC commentator Clive Eakin.

  4. Postpublished at 16:24 BST 8 September

    Leicestershire v Somerset 204-1

The ball seems to be moving more in this session oddly with the sun out and the older ball, cannot be just the lacquer coming off as there were still 36 overs for that to happen with Somerset crashing it around at more than five an over.

Archie Vaughan navigating it well though, confident having made the most of his early no ball reprieve to notch a run a ball 68 last round.

    Josh Thomas 94*.

  5. 16:30 pitch inspection at Headingleypublished at 16:22 BST 8 September

    Yorkshire 147-5 v Essex

Conditions look a bit more promising here after a spell of rain during the tea interval.

The rain has since departed and the covers are off.

  6. Tea at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 16:21 BST 8 September

    Durham 207-9 v Middlesex

This is now the highest partnership of the Durham innings, currently worth 44.

Short from Tom Helm and Ben Raine pulls square for a single. 45.

Callum Parkinson is forward with an inside edge into the legside but there's no run.

Helm drops short again and Parkinson ducks.

The last ball of the over is safely pushed into the offside and that's tea.

Durham have regained a bit of an initiative with a more than useful last wicket stand.

  7. Postpublished at 16:21 BST 8 September

    Notts 275-7 v Hampshire

That is a belting shot from Liam Patterson-White, creaming Kyle Abbott through extra cover for four.

Patterson-White is now up to 25 as he tries to steer Notts towards 300.

A few more shots like that will help, no end.

  8. Postpublished at 16:20 BST 8 September

    Derbys 208-7 v Kent

Derbyshire may be eyeing up a batting bonus point today now, Brett Randell showing his worth, remember he has a first-class best of 90* and has scored useful runs for Honley CC in separate stints in the Huddersfield League too.

No mug with the bat, and the ideal foil for Martin Andersson who edges Khaled Ahmed low past slip for four to go into the 80s.

  9. Postpublished at 16:17 BST 8 September

    Durham 206-9 v Middlesex

Ryan Higgins is back in the Middlesex attack, replacing Seb Morgan and Callum Parkinson is squared up but defending safely down the ground.

Two runs punched away after a misfield at point and Parkinson blocks the final balls.

    One more over? Yes.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:17 BST 8 September

    Dhariwal c Hurst b Anderson 20 (Lancashire v Glos 106-5)

Kamran Dhariwal poked the bear when he hit Jimmy Anderson for successive fours and the cricketing knight has been on a mission since.

Now in his 13th over of the day, he has his man as Dhariwal is caught behind on his first-class debut.

That is definitely a case of 'play that, young man' as it nips back in and the batter 23 years younger than the bowler, is out.

  11. Play resumes at New Roadpublished at 16:16 BST 8 September

    Worcs 122-5 v Northants

Henry Cullen and new batter Matthew Waite make their way out to the middle following the tea interval.

Harry Conway is convinced he has Cullen lbw with his first delivery but the umpire is unmoved. Think there was a little inside edge there.

Old school appeal by Conway whose follow through carried him right to the other end of the wicket.

  12. Postpublished at 16:16 BST 8 September

    Leicestershire v Somerset 196-1

Josh Thomas onto 92 with a slightly streaky aerial four, but his positive, aggressive strokeplay has worked brilliantly for Somerset across the season, so we should not knock it.

  13. Postpublished at 16:14 BST 8 September

    Durham 204-9 v Middlesex

We are nearly through the extra half hour here past the scheduled tea interval with Durham nine down, but given the momentum of this 10-th-wicket stand, the hosts won't mind at all.

Ben Raine ducks under a Tom Helm bouncer. Short again and Raine sways out of the way.

Maiden over this time. We'll have time for one more before tea.

  14. Postpublished at 16:13 BST 8 September

    Leicestershire v Somerset 190-1

Archie Vaughan off the mark in style to his sixth delivery with a crisp square cover drive for four to take him past 1000 first-class runs for Somerset too.

Ben Mike overpitching, and too wide too.

  15. Postpublished at 16:11 BST 8 September

    Glamorgan 69-0 v Warks 7-0

Mir Hamza angles one across Will Young and is driven through the covers for the first four of Warwickshire's innings.

Hamza responds with a bit of inswing and Young has to hurriedly bring the bat down to keep it away from his stumps.

  16. Postpublished at 16:10 BST 8 September

    Leicestershire v Somerset 186-1

Archie Vaughan is yet to get off the mark, but Somerset won't mind this, after storming at over five an over the entire first session of the day, they can afford to slow a little to rebuild with a new partnership and still push for 450 in 110 overs all being well tomorrow.

Josh Thomas is also finding it harder as Alex Green finds a good, hard length outside off more consistently, probably the best over of the game from Leic so far is the 38th, just one glorious on drive from Thomas for four from an otherwise impressive six balls.

  17. Postpublished at 16:09 BST 8 September

    Durham 203-9 v Middlesex

More runs for Durham - this time from Callum Parkinson via a thick outside edge wide of the slips and through to a vacant deep third for four runs.

Three more punched away through the off side.

Ben Raine pulls to fine leg for four to bring up the Durham 200 in the 62nd over. Quite a recovery from 162-9. 11 off the over.

  18. Postpublished at 16:08 BST 8 September

    Glamorgan 69 v Warks 2-0

    Two successive maidens by Glamorgan.

Rob Yates has one run to his name and Will Young has yet to score.

Warwickshire's goal will be to get through the 37 remaining with as few wickets down as possible.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:08 BST 8 September

    Sheat lbw b Abbott 3 (Notts 265-7 v Hampshire)

What do Hampshire do when they need a wicket? They throw the ball to Kyle Abbott, of course.

And here is victim number 57 of the season as he has Fraser Sheat absolutely plumb with one that nips back in and is very, very perpendicular to the stumps.

Abbott now has 4-45. Can he polish off the Notts tail?

  20. Postpublished at 16:05 BST 8 September

    Durham 192-9 v Middlesex

Durham had appeared to be storming towards promotion, shoring up their position at the top of the table after a crushing win at Northampton last week - and a solid start here today.

Since then the hosts have declined from 43-0 to 162-9 but now Ben Raine is holding up Middlesex. A Raine delay - one might say.

Raine ducks under a bumper from Tom Helm.

The batter tries to get one away off the back foot but is stopped at mid off.

    Maiden over.
