  1. 100 runs

100 for Martin Anderssonpublished at 16:49 BST 8 September

    Derbys 249-7 v Kent

Top batting from the Derbyshire all-rounder.

A lovely ball from Bertie Foreman to face on 99, clipped from down the legside, to get there.

His second 100 of the season, sixth of his professional career, but first in his 30s.

159 balls faced, digging his side out of a hole, calmly and professionally.

  2. Postpublished at 16:49 BST 8 September

    Yorkshire 163-5 v Essex

Jamie Porter has been put to the sword somewhat in this over, costing 12 runs.

Matthew Revis strokes the bowler for fours through cover and mid off.

Too full a length from Porter.

A great start for Yorkshire after a nightmare afternoon session of play earlier on.

  3. 50 runs

up for Warwickshirepublished at 16:48 BST 8 September

    Glamorgan 69 v Warks 51-0

Too short from Jamie McIlroy and Rob Yates pulls for four to bring up a 50 partnership for Warwickshire's first wicket with Will Young.

The Bears are now just 18 behind after bowling out Glamorgan in just 26.3 overs earlier this afternoon.

Vaughan lbw Gilchrist 21 (Leicestershire v Somerset 222-2)

    Richie Benaud does strike.. 222-2

Easy decision really, Archie Vaughan cannot blame the umpire for that one.

Nathan Gilchrist has been much more impressive since tea, nipping in and that is pretty straight at a good height.

21 off 32 balls for Vaughan in that 41 run partnership continuing the fast scoring for the away side,

Arguably the best international batter playing in this round, Henry Nicholls, in next for Somerset.

  5. Postpublished at 16:46 BST 8 September

    Durham 212-9 v Middlesex

An attempted nudge to leg from Ben Raine and that's a leg bye, bringing up the 50th partnership in 78 balls.

The livestream is currently on fast-forward but that is still a sprightly enough rate of scoring as it is.

    Very frustrating for Middlesex.

Seb Morgan will bowl the next over, round the wicket to Raine.

  6. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 16:45 BST 8 September

    Lancashire v Glos 124-6

As Annie Lennox famously sang, 'Here comes the rain again'...

It comes as Jimmy Anderson is about to start his 17th over of the day. We'll wait to see if he gets chance to bowl another.

  7. 100 runs

100 for Josh Thomaspublished at 16:43 BST 8 September

    Leicestershire v Somerset 222-1

Another brilliant, superb innings from Josh Thomas.

Four then one to not mess about in the 90s, pulling Ben Mike to get there.

A third century of the County Championship season plus that oh so close knock in the One-Day Cup v Gloucestershire.

Magnificent from the surprise package for Somerset this season who only came into the side in the penultimate game of last season due to Tom Abell's injury remember.

And Richie Benaud's voice is back as Archie Vaughan drives a one to make it 222.

    Waite b Conway 3 (Worcs 135-6 v Northants)

Harry Conway is finally rewarded for his persistence and accuracy as he finds just enough inswing to bowl Matthew Waite as he tries to drive.

Conway is in his 14th over and now has 1-28.

  9. Postpublished at 16:42 BST 8 September

    Yorkshire 151-5 v Essex

George Hill defends. Essex could be in complete control with early wickets here.

Runs off the fifth ball. A tad short from Snater and Hill rocks back to ping that through point for four to bring up 150 in the 45th over.

Played right under his nose. Immaculate timing.

Jamie Porter will bowl the next over.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:41 BST 8 September

Hammond run out (Balderson) 19 (Lancashire v Glos 119-6)

A direct hit and Miles Hammond is a goner!

Hammond plays Jimmy Anderson towards mid-on and does not hesitate in taking a single.

But George Balderson is on to smartly, picks up and takes aim and throws the stumps down.

After battling through some difficult bowling, that feels like a giveaway.

  11. Play resumes at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 16:39 BST 8 September

    Durham 207-9 v Middlesex

Ben Raine takes guard on 27 not out - facing Ryan Higgins.

He's put on 45 runs with Callum Parkinson, who has 17.

  12. Somerset finally challenged after big headstartpublished at 16:39 BST 8 September

Tom Lammonby was out for 74, caught in the deep to Alex Green

Batting looks a lot harder on this pitch after tea than before it.

Tom Lammonby's dismissal was, to quote my BBC Somerset colleague Anthony Gibson, "an absent-minded poke" outside off stump. But Leicestershire have, after some pretty placid bowling - found their mojo.

The pitch seems to have some life in it, bizarrely, after the sun came out, and not before.

Alex Green, their 19-year-old future prospect, has bowled really nicely. He can be inconsistent (what 19-year-old isn't?) but he has the habit of getting wickets from nowhere.

Despite still being a teenager, he must have bicep curled his baby bottle, the man is 6ft 5ins and with huge broad shoulders. One for the future.

Ben Mike and Nathan Gilchrist have got the ball to talk too.

The issue is that Leicestershire gave Somerset a 180-run headstart before turning it on, and chucked in 25 extras too.

Josh Thomas looks destined for a fine hundred - with the visitors' batting very nicely, but this is the first spell where it feels they have been truly challenged.

    Yorkshire 147-5 v Essex

50 minutes lost after that bout of rain that started during the tea interval.

26 overs left if the weather and light holds up.

George Hill faces Shane Snater on two not out. Matthew Revis is at the non-striker's end on nine.

  14. Postpublished at 16:38 BST 8 September

    Derbys 232-7 v Kent

Just seven overs away from the second new ball for Kent now.

Impressively in this modern era of moaning to umpires if the ball is not taking wickets, we have not see any of that shenanigans looking through the cuffs for any out of shape ball for a second replacement yet either.

Bertie Foreman into his 21st over, 1-49.

    Martin Andersson 88*.

  15. Glamorgan batting again proves 'frail'published at 16:38 BST 8 September

    Glamorgan 69 v Warks 37-0

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

The Bears produced their most successful bowling performance since 2012 as a sad Glamorgan batting effort lasted just two hours and five minutes.

Ethan Bamber took full advantage of the frail Glamorgan batting with the first five wickets to fall, with Ed Barnard claiming three cheaply to finish off the hosts.

Although some observers were left questioning Glamorgan’s decision to bat first, the pitch had little to do with the paltry total.

If the light holds, Warwickshire look set for an unbreakable hold on the game by the end of the first day.

  16. Postpublished at 16:36 BST 8 September

    Worcs 138-5 v Northants

No further damage for Worcestershire since tea.

Henry Conway finishes his latest over with a short one and Henry Cullen pulls it away fine for four runs to move on to 17 not out.

  17. Good news at Headingleypublished at 16:33 BST 8 September

    Yorkshire 147-5 v Essex

A 4.40pm resumption - with 26 overs remaining in the day.

  18. 6 runs

Postpublished at 16:30 BST 8 September

    Glamorgan 69 v Warks 32-0

"That was to the long boundary, not the short one," says BBC commentator Clive Eakin, as Will Young greets the introduction of bearded Jamie McIlroy by pulling him away for a maximum.

McIlroy finds the edge later in the over, but the ball falls short of the slips and runs away through a gap for four.

  19. Postpublished at 16:29 BST 8 September

    Leicestershire v Somerset 204-1

Nathan Gilchrist back into the attack for a third spell, and this is his best yet so far.

Just leaving Archie Vaughan who probably has to play at that line close to off-stump.

He does start with a maiden, his first in a Leic shirt, though it would not have been as the last ball was not going to be stopped by any fielder on it's way to the straight boundary, but that famously good fielder - the non-strikers' end stumps saves four.

  20. 6 runs

Postpublished at 16:28 BST 8 September

    Notts 287-7 v Hampshire

Liam Patterson-White takes a single off Felix Organ to tick over to 30.

Kyle Abbott has been taken off for now with 71 overs gone as Ben Brown waits for the new ball.

Olly Stone adds a single and then Patterson-White launches Organ over cow corner for six.

All valuable stuff for Notts here.
