    Derbys 269-8 v Kent

Grant Stewart took the new ball this morning, so it makes sense that he takes it again this evening, but surprisingly Khaled Ahmed takes it alongside him this time, not two in two man from this morning Hasan Mahmud.

Jack Morley fighting hard to stay there and even taking singles last ball to retain the strike, with Martin Anderson 111*.

  2. Bears move aheadpublished at 17:10 BST 8 September

    Glamorgan 69 v Warks 71-1

Warwickshire move past Glamorgan's paltry first-innings score as Will Young clips Timm van der Gugten away for four to mid-wicket.

Excellent timing by the Bears batter, who has been joined by Dan Mousley following the dismissal of Rob Yates.

  3. 50 runs

50 for Ben Rainepublished at 17:08 BST 8 September

    Durham 243-9 v Middlesex

When Middlesex do take this final wicket - an awkward mini session of play awaits.

24 overs left in the day. Two overs taken off for the change of innings.

Ryan Higgins bowls to Ben Raine on 46.

There's his 50 off 67 balls via a four scooped to fine leg.

    Eight fours in all.

His fourth 50 of the season with a best of 106 v Kent at Beckenham.

What's he doing at number 10 in the order?

  4. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 17:06 BST 8 September

    Notts 326-8 v Hampshire

That should be a wicket with the third ball of Kyle Abbott's first over with the new cherry.

Dillon Pennington with a thick edge and it flies to a diving Jake Lehmann at third slip, but it does not stick.

Tricky, but that should have been taken.

Pennington gets off strike and Liam Patterson-White ends the over in glorious fashion, dispatching Abbott over long-on for a huge six.

That was Chris Gayle-esque from the Notts all-rounder.

    Yates c Crane b Kellaway 35 (Glamorgan 69 v Warks 65-1)

Rob Yates is down the pitch and clubs the ball, baseball-style, back over Ben Kellaway's head for four.

His next short is far more orthodox as an on-drive brings Yates four more.

But Kellaway has the final word in the over as the left-hander tries to sweep and a top edge is safely caught by Mason Crane.

  6. new ball

New ball for Hampshirepublished at 17:02 BST 8 September

    Notts 313-8 v Hampshire

Hampshire have taken the new ball and thrown it straight to Kyle Abbott.

The visitors need to go bang, bang sharpish.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:02 BST 8 September

    Abell c&b Gilchrist 1 (Leicestershire v Somerset 229-4)

Not sure what has changed since tea for Leicestershire to bowl so much better in the second of the two sessions allowed by the rain today. Maybe an Alfonso Thomas masterclass or rollocking? Who better to get it from, one of Somerset's finest seamers of this century of course.

Tom Abell does not break the first-class world record for getting past 25 for the most consecutive innings, Nathan Gilchrist getting his old squad mate, a big scalp.

Gilchrist now gets to bowl at his fellow Kings College alumni James Rew, in at six with Henry Nicholls only four off nine balls after the Somerset collapse from 222-1 to now.

  8. Postpublished at 17:02 BST 8 September

    Yorkshire 176-5 v Essex

A bit short from Shane Snater and Matthew Revis punches the ball away off the back foot through cover point for four.

This partnership is now worth 37.

  9. Five-wicket haul for Luke Procterpublished at 17:01 BST 8 September

    Worcs 150-9 v Northants

    He does it again.

Another perfect inswinger from Luke Procter is too good for Usama Mir, who falls lbw, and that is the Northants skipper's fifth five-for in a first-class innings.

  10. 50 runs

    50 for Liam Patterson-Whitepublished at 16:59 BST 8 September

    Notts 313-7 v Hampshire

What a valuable contribution Liam Patterson-White has made. He rocks back to Felix Organ and cracks it through the offside for four to reach his half-century.

His second of the season to go with one hundred and he is pushing Notts into a very good first-day score.

This has taken 57 balls with six fours and one big six off Organ.

  11. Postpublished at 16:59 BST 8 September

    Derbys 259-8 v Kent

Tawanda Muyeye is allowed two overs of off-spin before Kent will take the new ball at the first opportunity.

    Not filthy, not terrible.

Daniel Bell-Drummond not inclined to bowl the seamers he used to quite nicely since his Millfield School education as a young batting all-rounder, and no Joe Denly since his retirement after the One Day Cup home match win over Somerset.

So Kent lacking bowling options in their top six, hence the Muyeye try - he has three first-class wickets in his career so far.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:57 BST 8 September

    Allison c Chahal b Conway 4 (Worcs 149-8 v Northants)

Harry Conway tests out Ben Allison with a short delivery which he helps on its away - but in the direction of Yuzi Chahal at long leg.

He makes no mistake with the catch and another wicket falls in a Worcestershire first innings in which only three batters have reached double figures so far.

  13. Postpublished at 16:57 BST 8 September

    Glamorgan 69 v Warks 56-0

Kiran Carlson decides it is time to try spin as Ben Kellaway comes into the attack for Glamorgan. It's a tidy start, with just four runs from it, but no obvious danger signs for the Warwickshire batsmen.

  14. Postpublished at 16:56 BST 8 September

    Durham 230-9 v Middlesex

Seb Morgan is bowling round the wicket in his quest for a five-wicket haul - and to end this Durham innings.

An overpitched ball outside off stump is slammed through mid off by Ben Raine for four.

A single to Raine through deep point. Can we discount 250 and a batting point from here?

    Ben Raine is on 44.

Parkinson will keep the strike with a single of his own to point.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:55 BST 8 September

    Randell c Singh b Foreman 29 (Derbys 256-8 v Kent)

Brett Randell had been restrained, batting for Martin Andersson, but having got him past his 100 and his side a batting bonus point, he tries to attack before the second new ball is taken.

It does not work though as he holes out, hitting straight to deep midwicket.

    Jack Morley in at 10.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:54 BST 8 September

    Stone c Brown b Lumsden 17 (Notts 309-8 v Hampshire)

A maiden first-class wicket for 17-year-old Manny Lumsden.

He gets a little bit of bounce, enough to surprise Olly Stone and after a difficult day, the teenager has something to smile about.

A sixth catch for Ben Brown, and it breaks a stand of 44 between Stone and Liam Patterson-White.

But a useful effort from Stone. Now can Dillon Pennington or Tom Giles stick around with LPW?

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:52 BST 8 September

    Thomas b Mike 100 (Leicestershire v Somerset 222-3)

The same score strikes twice for Leicestershire.

That came back sharply from Ben Mike into Josh Thomas' off stump.

He did not do a lot wrong there really, though you could say there are only two types of leave of course.

No-one would expect that to come back that sharply, that is a long way wide of off peg, even Ben Mike looks surprised.

    Very good knock nonetheless.

    Tom Abell in at five.

  18. Postpublished at 16:52 BST 8 September

    Yorkshire 165-5 v Essex

An edge from George Hill but soft hands - and that evades first slip, running to deep third for two.

Shane Snater is getting the ball to shape in and away alternately here.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:51 BST 8 September

    Taylor b Procter 8 (Worcs 144-7 v Northants)

Fine shot by Tom Taylor, who drives Luke Procter past mid-off for four.

Procter's next is a superb inswinger and Taylor is bowled as he tries to flick it away to square leg.

The Northants captain now has four wickets in this innings.

  20. 300 runs

300 up for Nottspublished at 16:50 BST 8 September

    Notts 303-7 v Hampshire

Another super shot from Liam Patterson-White as he judges Felix Organ's length so quickly, rocks back and cuts it superbly for four.

That pushes the left-arm spinner on to 45 and the total ticks past 300.

It's a second batting point for Notts and from 20-3 this morning, it is a very impressive fightback.

With Patterson-White at the crease, the hosts will hope they can kick on towards 350.
