    Yorkshire 217-5 v Essex

    13 overs left till stumps.

Matt Critchley continues with his leg spin and George Hill cuts through backward point for four to move to 23..

Yorkshire's session so far. 12 overs left.

  2. Postpublished at 17:33 BST 8 September

    Glamorgan 69 v Warks 86-2

Easy runs for Will Young as Timm van der Gugten sends one down outside leg stump and he glances it fine for four.

Young is now 37 not out, with new partner Sam Hain on one.

  3. Postpublished at 17:33 BST 8 September

    Notts 361-9 v Hampshire

Liam Patterson takes on Scott Currie as he goes straight. Will it be caught at long-on?

No and it goes, one bounce, for four.

Patterson-White has 78 and he is such a clean striker of a cricket ball.

  4. Postpublished at 17:31 BST 8 September

    Durham 252 v Middlesex 8-0

Ben Raine strays to leg and the ball evades keeper Ollie Robinson for four byes - not to be confused with the Sussex and England bowler of the same name.

An appeal for caught behind is turned down. The ball hasn't carried.

An eventful first over - and now Brydon Carse will bowl to Luke Hollman.

    Morley b Ahmed 10 (Derbys 283-9 v Kent)

Jack Morley pokes at one indeterminably outside off and plays on to give Khaled Ahmed his third and bring last man Shoaib Bashir in with 11 overs remaining today.

Martin Andersson may be forced to hit out now on 116 but Shoaib Bashir did surprise all with 44* that day James Rew hit 221, hitting Derbyshire's Pakistan seamer, Mo Abbas around Taunton for two career bests.

Can he again strike a career-best alongside a teammate hitting a career best?

300 the initial priority of course.

  6. sun

Play resumes at Old Traffordpublished at 17:29 BST 8 September

    Lancashire v Glos 124-6

We now have some soft late afternoon September sunshine and the players are back on the field.

We have a possible 15 overs left, and Jimmy Anderson is preparing to bowl his 17th over of the day.

If there's a fitter 44-year-old than Anderson, they must be quite some physical specimen.

  7. Middlesex begin their first inningspublished at 17:27 BST 8 September

    Durham 252 v Middlesex 4-0

Sam Robson and Luke Hollman will open the innings - with a theoretical 19 overs left before stumps.

Ben Raine bowls to Robson, who edges in front of the slips and the ball runs through deep third for four.

  8. 250 runs

250 for Somersetpublished at 17:26 BST 8 September

    Leicestershire v Somerset 251-4

Having hammered Glamorgan in less than three days, but missed out on the 450 by a whisker last week, Somerset are even more keen to get the full allocation of points this week if at all possible.

Notts of course did get there's on a flat one with a small boundary at Trent Bridge thanks to Jack Haynes and Liam Patterson-White. And other main title rivals Warwickshire are playing probably the weakest side this month after Hampshire in the Division, so on for full points too.

Can this be the first of five on a pitch doing a bit more now this evening session?

  9. Postpublished at 17:24 BST 8 September

    Worcs 171-9 v Northants

Curious conditions at New Road where, despite a large dark cloud, there is also sunshine and shadows on the ground. Henry Cullen swings Luke Procter through mid-wicket for four and Northants call up spinner Yuzi Chahal to bowl only his fourth over of the innings.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:23 BST 8 September

    Pennington c Albert b Currie 20 (Notts 356-9 v Hampshire)

    Dillon Pennington's fun is over!

He tries to force Scott Currie off the back foot and the edge zips through to second slip where Toby Albert clings on to a sharp catch.

Some have gone down, but that's a good one to stick.

But again, a useful lower-order stand of 47 between Pennington and Liam Patterson-White.

  11. Yorkshire reach 200 at Headingleypublished at 17:22 BST 8 September

    Yorkshire 200-5 v Essex

Matthew Revis is back and across to the leg spin of Matt Critchley, driving through cover for four - and that's the innings 200 in 53.5 overs.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:21 BST 8 September

    Mousley c McIlroy b Kellaway 5 (Glamorgan 69 v Warks 79-2)

Poor shot by Dan Mousley, who tries to hit Ben Kellaway over the top but slices the ball to wide mid-off where Jamie McIlroy dives to take a good catch.

A bit of a freebie for Glamorgan there.

  13. Third batting point for Nottspublished at 17:20 BST 8 September

    Notts 356-8 v Hampshire

Dillon Pennington gets in on the act with a handsome drive for four off Kyle Abbott.

He then sweetly times another Abbott ball past the mid-on fielder and it races away for a second four of the over.

And it's a very big landmark as that is the 350 and a third batting point. It didn't look likely at 20-3!

A third four in the over as Pennington now gets one past mid-off. These runs are so, so useful for Notts and so damaging for Hampshire.

  14. wicket

WICKET - DURHAM ALL OUTpublished at 17:20 BST 8 September

    Parkinson LBW b Sharma 26 - Durham 252 v Middlesex

Callum Parkinson misses an attempted scoop to leg off Naavya Sharma and is struck in front of middle and off.

A 10th wicket stand of 90 is broken - and Middlesex will bat 19 overs tonight, weather and light permitting.

Ben Raine leaves the field on 58 not out.

  15. 6 runs

Postpublished at 17:18 BST 8 September

    Notts 343-8 v Hampshire

Liam Patterson-White goes big again, as he makes space and with brute force sends it over midwicket for six.

That takes him to 69 and his partnership with Dillon Pennington is worth 30.

Make that 34 as he hits Scott Currie for another four. Patterson-White now has 73.

  16. Postpublished at 17:18 BST 8 September

    Leicestershire v Somerset 241-4

Big appeal from former Kings School bowler to his old school teammate.

Strangled down the legside would be a niche, surely unintended, flukey way for Nathan Gilchrist to get James Rew, but he was pretty up in arms about it, very keen for that one.

Potentially off his forearm, hard to tell from even multiple replays, so fair enough, go with the umpire's decision of not out.

  17. Durham pass 250 against Middlesexpublished at 17:16 BST 8 September

    Durham 252-9 v Middlesex

The final-wicket stand continues to flourish and Durham have a batting point that felt unlikely at 162-9.

Ben Raine completes the landmark with two pushed to backward point off Naavya Sharma.

  18. Postpublished at 17:16 BST 8 September

    Leicestershire v Somerset 241-4

Rehan Ahmed gets a third over having bowled two overs before tea.

Amidst the carnage of Somerset losing 3-7 at t'other end it is quite a nice time for him to come on against two new batters, though he may well wish right handed Abell was there not James Rew or Henry Nicholls.

A strange thought as all three would be up there in a best XI of the Championship, but the right-handedness is usually preferred by leggies, maybe we will see a few red ball googlies from Ahmed?

His first three overs only going for seven.

  19. Half century for Ben Rainepublished at 17:15 BST 8 September

    Durham 252-9 v Middlesex

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Back in May, Ben Raine and Callum Parkinson added 158 against Kent for the 10th Durham wicket in Beckenham. It was niggle value of the highest order.

Today they came together with Durham struggling on 162-9 against Middlesex on a difficult track.

Not only did 200 seem a ludicrous idea, but the thought of a batting point would have had everyone laughing at you!

Raine has now moved to 58 and Parkinson has 26 and their stand is currently worth 90 runs. Durham are four away from a batting point.

This is also their best last wicket stand against Middlesex, beating the 44 added by Scott Borthwick and Graham Onions at Lord's in 2012.

  20. Postpublished at 17:13 BST 8 September

    Yorkshire 187-5 v Essex

Four runs to Matthew Revis, driving Jamie Porter through wide mid off to move to 37.

This has been an impressive rearguard from the hosts after slumping from 121-0 to 139-5 this afternoon.

A beauty from Porter fizzes away from Revis outside off stump.
