    Yorkshire 76-0 v Essex

More runs for Yorkshire, this time from the blade of Will Luxton, who flicks Shane Snater through square leg for four.

We're down to two slips now. Yorkshire looking a little too comfortable from an Essex point of view.

  2. 100 runs

100 up for Durhampublished at 13:40 BST 8 September

    Durham 100-5 v Middlesex

Ollie Robinson goes up and over from a Seb Morgan delivery and gets four down towards gully.

    Five wickets down though.

  3. Postpublished at 13:39 BST 8 September

    Derbys 108-4 v Kent

    Floodlights on already at Derby.

It seems the weather is heading North, although they are only just underway in brighter conditions at Leicestershire, the closest ground being played at in the County Championship today.

But then Derby saw a full two-hour morning session.

Maybe you cannot have your cake and eat it with September cricket, but if it gets much darker then bad light might tempt the early cutting of teatime cake in the Derby tearooms!

  4. Lunch at Worcesterpublished at 13:38 BST 8 September

    Worcestershire 56-2 v Northamptonshire

Jake Libby plays out a maiden from leg-spinner Yuzi Chahal to end a 90-minute session at New Road after the start was delayed until noon.

Ben Sanderson had Dan Lategan lbw with the second ball of the game after Northants asked the home side to bat first and Luke Procter then bowled Rehaan Edavalath for four.

But Libby (29 not out) and Adam Hose have survived 12 overs together to keep Northants waiting for a first bowling point.

  5. Postpublished at 13:37 BST 8 September

    Yorkshire 72-0 v Essex

Zaman Akhter is round the wicket to Adam Lyth, who drives to backward point but there's no run.

Four runs to a fuller ball, pushed neatly through wide mid-off.

Pressure building on Essex. Four more stroked through the offside.

Another four - this time whipped through mid-wicket.

  6. Postpublished at 13:37 BST 8 September

    Notts 122-4 v Hampshire

A wily old campaigner Kyle Abbott will not need telling, but that's almost criminal on a green top like this.

Short and wide and it sits up for Joe Clarke to crack through cover for four.

Abbott then beats him with a cracking ball that also beats wicketkeeper Ben Brown and Clarke scampers a bye.

Much better from the South African.

  7. Penalty runs at Derby!published at 13:36 BST 8 September

    Derbys 107-4 v Kent

Khaled Ahmed's latest over goes for nine with a two, three and four leg byes and an angry throw at the batter last ball in his follow through with no run attempted.

Umpires summon Daniel Bell-Drummond and the offender for a chat and the clear sign of penalty runs given.

Zak Crawley tries, but Kent cannot really argue with that, it was an aggressive throw straight at Martin Andersson who barely left his crease driving straight to the bowler.

  8. Postpublished at 13:33 BST 8 September

    Yorkshire 60-0 v Essex

Shane Snater is on bended knee appealing for LBW against Adam Lyth.

Not out. Jagging back sharply and striking on or just above the knee roll.

Lyth gets a single off the fourth ball.

Snater drops short and wide to Will Luxton, who punches through cover on the back foot for four.

    Hope-Bell b Bamber 0 (Glamorgan 3-1 v Warks)

    What a shame.

Jack Hope-Bell plays around a straight one from Ethan Bamber and departs for a third-ball duck.

Just one more wicket needed now for Bamber to reach 50 in this season's Championship.

  10. Postpublished at 13:31 BST 8 September

    Glamorgan 1-0 v Warwickshire

A youthful opening pair at the crease for Glamorgan - 22-year-old Asa Tribe and Jack Hope-Bell making his Championship debut aged just 19.

Tribe rotates the strike and there is a big appeal from Ethan Bamber following his opening delivery to Hope-Bell, but he survives.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:31 BST 8 September

    Lees c Duke b Morgan 48 (Durham 93-5 v Middlesex)

Oh, Seb Morgan, you have come up with an absolute corker there!

Coming round the wicket to Alex Lees, he moves one in from outside off-stump on a good length and it cuts the Durham skipper in half and flicks the edge.

No half-century for Lees, but a third wicket for Morgan and Durham have slipped from 80-2 to 93-5.

  12. Postpublished at 13:29 BST 8 September

    Yorkshire 55-0 v Essex

Zaman Akhter will bowl from the Kirkstall Lane End.

Full, driven and missed by Will Luxton. A bit of away movement, in the air and off the pitch.

An LBW shout is turned won off the third ball, which straightens but looked a bit leg side.

Shot! Full and driven between cover and mid off for four.

Luxton moves on to 23 - level with Adam Lyth.

  13. Postpublished at 13:28 BST 8 September

    Notts 115-4 v Hants

Kyle Abbott will be disappointed with that as he is too full on leg-stump and a player in form like Joe Clarke is not going to miss out.

Four welcome runs for him. He's on 35.

  14. Postpublished at 13:27 BST 8 September

    Leicestershire v Somerset 12-0

Ben Mike is summoning Rehan Ahmed to bring some sawdust from the clump behind the standing umpire to the footmarks, maybe that explains the couple of no-balls seen already.

Just five runs off the bat from Somerset but seven extras helping them on their early way.

  15. Postpublished at 13:26 BST 8 September

    Notts 110-4 v Hampshire

Joe Clarke picks up a couple off Scott Currie to get up and running this afternoon.

With Currie at one end and Kyle Abbott at the other, the Notts are in naturally watchful mode.

A score of 250 (with the batting point) would be a fine effort from the home side here.

  16. Postpublished at 13:24 BST 8 September

    Yorkshire 51-0 v Essex

After a gloomy morning, it is pleasing to report that the Headingley ground is bathed in sunshine.

Will Luxton turns Shane Snater round the corner for one.

Snater bowls outside off and Adam Lyth lets the ball go.

  17. Postpublished at 13:22 BST 8 September

    Leicestershire v Somerset 12-0

Another change for Leicestershire, Ben Mike, takes the new ball alongside Nathan Gilchrist and also bowls a no-ball in his opening over.

Maybe slippery delivery stride surfaces to blame, or rustiness as these two have not played of late.

Mike did take 4-38 v Glamorgan in August on that Grace Road pitch that breached the ECB pitch regulations, remember.

That was his last appearance for the Foxes.

  18. Postpublished at 13:21 BST 8 September

    Durham 85-4 v Middlesex

Tidy stuff from young seamers Seb Morgan and Naavya Sharma since lunch.

Two wickets apiece this morning for these two as they step up with that mainstay of the Middlesex attack, Toby Roland-Jones, missing.

  19. Postpublished at 13:21 BST 8 September

We told you a few moments ago that teenager Jack Hope-Bell will be making his red-ball debut for Glamorgan this afternoon against Warwickshire.

He was born in Abergavenny and in case you don't know what he looks like, here's a photo.

    Yorkshire 50-0 v Essex

Will Luxton takes guard first. He's on 18 not out, facing Shane Snater.

His opening partner Adam Lyth has 23.

Essex have largely bowled with good control but no breakthrough thus far, though Jamie Porter came close to getting Adam Lyth caught at first slip in the fifth over of the innings.

The ball just passed Paul Walter at ankle height.
