We have started on time in CLS, despite the fact there was plenty of rain overnight. There is some in the forecast later this afternoon, but it is very overcast and muggy on the banks of The Wear.

When the players came out the umpires seemed happy with the light but as the first over developed a dark cloud drifted in and the floodlights are now on. They were on all day yesterday.

Durham bowled Gloucestershire out for just 137 yesterday and will soon be in the lead - as long as the light holds. We lost 26 overs to the elements late yesterday so the plan is for 104 overs today - if the weather allows.

We have already seen a bit of action in the first over, with David Bedingham lofting JT Langridge into the East Stand for six. He now has 69.

Full and wide from Ethan Bamber and Ben Martindale cashes in, driving through the covers for four.

A straighter drive, but the same result as Martindale picks up back-to-back boundaries.

A backfoot punch brings four more and takes the Notts opener to 15. His first highest first-class score - albeit it's only his second match.

Ben Sanderson gets us under way at Northampton and Zak Crawley is quickly into his stride, adding six runs to his overnight 82 from the opening over.

Ben Compton nicks a single from his first ball of the day to Liam Guthrie.

I had the most glorious of British evenings last night.

Sitting in a lovely seaside pub, eating fish and chips, while it poured down with rain. Glorious.

All of that means that, despite it being dry here in Scarborough, we are awaiting a restart. Some, we understand, think we might get on at 12, others after lunch.

But rain is expected today, so I fear that when we are ready to come back on, and things have dried, the rain might come again. But let's hope we can get back on - this match is delicately poised and we might be set for a fascinating encounter.

Durham 100-3 v Glos 137

Just five balls into the day the Division Two leaders' Test star David Bedingham shows his class, whipping James Thomas Langridge over the rope for six.

The angle of left-arm inswing pushed that ball into his arc, Bedingham's body language dismissively saying 'you're not good enough to bowl at me champ.'

Langridge is no rarity here though, one of many to feel inferior bowling to Bedingham at Chester-le-Street in recent years.

Fellow loanee James Hayes opens the bowling from t'other end.

It almost feels unfair for youngsters to have to bowl at this pair, some learning curve.

We have our first action in two Division Two matches, 24 hours late, but better late than never...

Worcestershire have won the toss at New Road and opted to bowl first against Lancashire.

No choice to be made by Lewis Gregory this morning, Migael Pretorius has to open the bowling to complete the South African's third over of this match as light curtailed play early yesterday evening.

The title-chasing Midlands rivals will be keen to get going after a frustrating day one was abandoned without a ball bowled.

Defending champions and current leaders Nottinghamshire go head-to head against third-placed Warwickshire with just five points separating them.

Notts are seeking a third straight win on the road before they head home for the final month, with three of their final four matches on the turf of Trent Bridge.

The Bears have proven a tough nut to crack this season, losing just once, and will be hoping to pick up on that thrilling one-wicket win over Sussex last time out. IF we can get some play!

At least both sides will have been heartened to see second-placed Somerset fail to pick up a batting point away to Sussex yesterday.

Much of the year off the field has been sad news for Sussex fans hearing rumours and now confirmations of departures, but they are still faring impressively well on it even with the points deduction.

Sussex have put years of work into Henry Crocombe and fans are understandably gutted to see him leave to join the battery of Surrey seamers, but at least he gave great joy to those at Hove yesterday.

A hat-trick and two in two to wrap up the innings and complete his 5-56 is some contribution, clinching full bowling points and importantly before any Somerset batting points were reached.

Lewis Gregory's side will be disappointed to only take two wickets in 17.2 overs managed before bad light ended the day early, and today's forecast suits Sussex to make hay in improving batting conditions.

Hants top scorer Jake Lehmann felt day one against Glamorgan had gone well enough with the batsmen praising the bowlers.

But he warned against taking their foot off the accelerator with the Glam lower order well capable of putting in a damaging shift this morning.

Baker’s blitz helped reduced the Glam reply to 111-7 at the close, still trailing by 51 runs - a match situation that Hants batsman Jake Lehmann felt left the game “evenly poised”.

“It was a bowler friendly day, a bit of nip,” he said. “I don't think it was a 17 wicket day, we could have got to that 250 score but it's evenly poised now.”

On the regulation from the ECB about discarded Test squad players being able to parachute into games in the first two days, Lehmann added: “I think it's great from the ECB to get the players back and create the best competition and it's great for us.

“But got to find three wickets in the morning but we're well aware they've been successful with their lower order.”

Glamorgan batsman Ben Kellaway said it was “frustrating” that the ECB rule regarding released squad player replacements allowed a fresh Sonny Baker to cause mayhem late in the day.

Kellaway felt that Hants were unduly helped by being allowed to bring on a fit and firing Baker late in the day after the man he replaced, Scott Currie, had bowled eight overs.

And the mood in the home dressing room had not been improved by the fact Baker came on and took two wickets in his first over and finish with 2-3 from three overs.

"It's not really for me to comment on [the ECB rule]. We just have to try forget about it but [Baker] came on fresh late in the day, getting dark and bowled nicely.

“It's a bit frustrating and it's a change to face a young speedster and it certainly felt like that and we unfortunately lost those two wickets to him.”

Bad news from Cardiff on day two though - it's raining and there will be a delayed start.
