Amy Dowden made Strictly history when she joined the family in 2017, becoming the first ever Welsh professional dancer to enter the Ballroom – and our Welsh wonder has been creating memorable Strictly moments ever since!

Originally from Caerphilly, Amy started dancing at the age of eight and hasn’t looked back. She became British National Champion in 2017 and is a four-time British National Finalist, as well as reaching the semi-final of the World Championships in 2015.

Amy’s students say she can be strict and is quite the perfectionist – something her first Strictly partner Brian Conley quickly discovered! The pair made it to Week Four, before Amy returned the following year with actor Danny John-Jules, scoring the very first 10 of Strictly 2018.

In 2019, Amy danced all the way to the Grand Final with Karim Zeroual, before reaching the Quarter Final with JJ Chalmers in 2020. She partnered McFly star Tom Fletcher in 2021 and EastEnders actor James Bye in 2022.

Amy returned to the competition in 2024 alongside JLS singer JB Gill, with the pair delivering some unforgettable performances together.

In 2025, Amy was partnered with businessman and TV personality Thomas Skinner, adding another memorable partnership to her Strictly journey.

Now back for another series, our Welsh wonder is ready to bring her passion, precision and plenty of sparkle to the Strictly Ballroom once again!
