The Brick Community Stadium is stunned. Again.

What can I say? Again, a depleted Wigan are chasing their tails, this time as Corey Hall motors his way through to the line.

The TV cameras cut to a forlorn-looking Adam Keighran on the sidelines. That's three Wakefield tries after he saw yellow, now.

Max Jowitt threads the needle with another two points from the tee.

Still three minutes before Adam Keighran's time in the sin-bin comes to an end, by the way.

How expensive that incident has been for Wigan, eh?

    Jack Sinfield, goal Max Jowitt

I can't quite believe what I'm seeing here.

Wakefield go again, work the ball wide to the right to Jack Sinfield.

He dummies and goes to the line and, despite the best efforts of the chasing Junior Nsemba, he grounds the ball cleanly.

Max Jowitt adds the two and this is Wakefield's game, now.

  4. 'Could be expensive 10 minutes for Wigan'published at 18:47 BST 26 September

    Wigan 6-12 Wakefield

    Robbie Hunter-Paul
Former New Zealand international on BBC Two

This could be an extremely expensive 10 minutes for Wigan.

That is Wakefield's most favoured side when it comes to attacking.

    Wigan 6-12 Wakefield

Wigan are in unknown ground here.

It's not often under Matt Peet that their indiscipline gets the better of them - albeit Adam Keighran's fellow Man of Steel nominee Brad O'Neill comes to mind after his antics in last year's Super League Grand Final.

Half an hour remains for the Cherry and Whites to keep their season alive.

  6. try

TRY: Wigan 6-12 Wakefieldpublished at 46 mins

    Tom Johnstone

    Wakefield make an immediate impact!

Tom Johnstone bags his second try of the evening and within seconds of play restarting following Adam Keighran's sin-bin.

Wakefield work the ball wide and he dots down at the corner.

Max Jowitt misses the two but they're eight points up and Wigan still have another potentially expensive eight minutes or so to play at a disadvantage here.

  7. SIN-BINpublished at 45 mins

    Wigan 6-8 Wakefield

    Another sin-bin.

Adam Keighran's sent for a 10-minute spell on the sidelines for wrestling Isaiah Vagana off the ball.

Wigan are reduced to 12 and that's surely going to play into Wakefield's hands.

  8. Postpublished at 45 mins

    Wigan 6-8 Wakefield

There's some afters between Isaiah Vagana and Adam Keighran following a tackle.

Both sides have a bit of a ding dong before it all fizzles out a bit.

But will we see any repercussions?

  9. 'French has to get into this'published at 18:40 BST 26 September

    Wigan 6-8 Wakefield

    Robbie Hunter-Paul
Former New Zealand international on BBC Two

Bevan French is Wigan's go-to man. He enjoys the glamour, he enjoys the spotlight and he enjoys taking opportunities when he can.

He's the key, really. Jai Field will play off the back of him, he'll get them motivated but Bevan French has to get into this with as much energy as Harry Smith has in the first half.

  10. Postpublished at 43 mins

    Wigan 6-8 Wakefield

Adam Keighran is hauled back a few metres within his own 10 from Wakefield, who look a force to be reckoned with at the minute.

Wigan won't want another arm wrestle, they will want to asset themselves on this semi-final again. And quick.

  11. SECOND HALFpublished at 40 mins

    Wigan 6-8 Wakefield

Wakefield get the second half under way.

They are 40 minutes away from glory but can they hold out? Or will Wigan show why they've already wrapped up the Challenge Cup and League Leaders' Shield this season?

  12. 'Wakefield will be happy'published at 18:31 BST 26 September

    HT: Wigan 6-8 Wakefield

    Josh Charnley
Leigh Leopards winger on BBC Two

I think Wakefield were finishing the sets better in that first 20 minutes. They're pinning Wigan and that's what Wigan usually do to teams who are pinning them in the 10 and trapping them in there.

Wakefield will be happy going in two points up.

  13. 'Both sides need a massive pat on the back'published at 18:28 BST 26 September

    HT: Wigan 6-8 Wakefield

    Kevin Brown
Former England international on BBC Two

It's everything that we expected and probably more. In the first 10 minutes there was no breath. You normally go five, six minutes before a break but 10 minutes is incredible.

These athletes out here have not dipped their toe in, so I think both sides need a massive pat on the back, but the way Wakefield controlled the game when they went down to 12 and I think they finished off magnificently well and actually looked the more dangerous side.

Wigan Warriors pair Adam Keighran and Brad O'Neill as well as Leeds Rhinos full-back Lachie Miller have been named on the three-man shortlist for the 2026 Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel award.

Keighran makes the final shortlist despite not being named as part of the Super League Dream Team, whereas O'Neill and Miller were included.

Australian centre Keighran finished the regular season with 16 tries and 107 goals while O'Neill has already been named the Rugby League Writers and Broadcasters Association (RLWBA) Player of the Year having helped Wigan to the Challenge Cup and League Leaders' Shield.

Miller has been a figurehead in an impressive Leeds side who took the fight for the League Leaders' Shield to the end of season, however he will be absent for the rest of the campaign having suffered a hamstring injury.

The winner of this year's awards will be announced at Rugby League's Awards Night in Manchester on Tuesday, 29 September.

Wakefield fans celebrate at WiganImage source, SWPix.com

Who had Wakefield being ahead at half-time on their bingo cards?

Half-time's probably come at just the right time for Wigan, who looked in control when Brad O'Neill touched down.

But Trinity have fought back and are now deservedly in a two-point lead at the break.

They're 40 minutes from a debut Super League Grand Final here and might cause one of the great upsets against a treble-chasing Wigan here.

  16. Postpublished at 39 mins

    Wigan 6-8 Wakefield

Tyson Smoothy tries to power his way over the line but he's held up and Wakefield are sent back to the 10 for another go.

Wigan's defends holds this time but Jake Trueman nicks the ball back by ripping it out of the arms of Brad O'Neill, but play's stopped soon after and Wigan begin another set - again - just past 10 metres from their own try-line.

  17. 'Wakefield stretching Wigan'published at 18:17 BST 26 September

    Wigan 6-8 Wakefield

    Robbie Hunter-Paul
Former New Zealand international on BBC Two

Wakefield have started to stretch Wigan around the park.

They've moved the ball and they've made Wigan make more one-on-one tackles than I think they're used to and I think that's paid dividends for them and it's created the opportunities. They've capitalised on some of them and not on others.

  18. Postpublished at 36 mins

    Wigan 6-8 Wakefield

This says it all really - from that Cam Scott dalliance, Wigan squander their own set and kick on the turnover nearer to their own try-line than they will feel comfortable with.

And within moments Wakefield are back within 20 and it's zero tackle.

They couldn't go for another try, could they?!

  19. 'Not often any team nudge in front at Wigan'published at 18:14 BST 26 September

    Wigan 6-8 Wakefield

    Matt Newsum
    Commentator on BBC Two

Still a long way to go but it's not often Wakefield or any team nudges in front of Wigan on their home patch.

  20. Postpublished at 35 mins

    Wigan 6-8 Wakefield

Blimey, Cam Scott breaks out of an attempted tackle, stays on his feet and bolts deep into the Wigan half.

Dare I say it but Wigan look a bit shaky here and it's all Wakefield.
