As a Wigan supporter can only strongly applaud Wakey who totally destroyed my team tonight. They were exceptional and didn't allow Wigan to get any momentum and never get the ball for any amount of time. A well deserved win, you thoroughly deserved it.

  2. DROP-GOALpublished at 74 mins

    Wigan 6-31 Wakefield

Mason Lino punts over a drop-goal right in front of the sticks and Wakefield edge a point further ahead.

That's a sickener for Wigan, isn't it? They're being humiliated in their own backyard.

At one point in this game Wigan led 6-0 and since then they've not posted a single point.

    Wigan 6-30 Wakefield

Wigan get another set of six five metres out.

But they've had a nightmare as Mike McMeeken scoops up the ball as the hosts knock-on from a wayward pass.

This isn't a very Wigan-esque performance this evening.

    Wigan 6-30 Wakefield

Just 10 minutes left on the clock.

Bevan French makes a run for Wigan, as he so often does to create moments of magic, but he can't find a way through this Wakefield defence right now.

    Wigan 6-30 Wakefield

    Robbie Hunter-Paul
Former New Zealand international on BBC Two

It's exciting. Wigan are going to try, I'm not sure there's enough time but they're going to try. They've got the firepower to put Wakefield under a lot of pressure.

But Wakefield have got the wind in their sails and they're not going to give this up. I think they'll want more points.

This is a Wakefield team that we've not seen before in the play-offs, ever in the history of the Super League.

    Wigan 6-30 Wakefield

Isaiah Vagana is held up as he races through for what could be another Wakefield try.

But it's correctly judged that Wigan kept him from grounding the ball.

I think we're reached the point where it's safe to say it might not be Wigan's night, here.

    Wigan 6-30 Wakefield

If it stays like this, then potentially Sir Kevin Sinfield could deliver the ball to next week's Super League Grand Final - as part of his 7 in 7 challenge to raise money for the MND Association - in time for a game his son Jack will potentially play in for Wakefield.

Just under 15 minutes left on the clock.

    Wigan 6-30 Wakefield

Wigan get to within 20 metres of the line.

But they've run out of tackles and Harry Smith hauls a kick to the corner on the last - but Jack Sinfield punts the ball out before Liam Marshall can get to it and surely run in at the corner.

    Wigan 6-30 Wakefield

Wakefield's gameplan has been solid, more than solid. They've been able to pick up and find Wigan's weakness.

In the midst of all this try drama, I'd overlooked that Liam Farrell's on the field for Wigan.

His final game for the club could be coming much sooner than he might have imagined.

What can you say about this Wakefield team. Their patience has been absolutely first class today.

    It's try time for Wakefield...again!

Junior Nsemba won't want to watch this back again. The Wigan man is caught unawares as Wakefield string some quickfire passes from the beginning of their set - the last of which sails right past him.

And so does Ky Rodwell who runs in unopposed.

Max Jowitt adds the two. Surely Wigan can't come back from this?

Adding to Wigan's misery, Wakefield successfully challenge a call of knock-on,

They have a set of six within five metres.

    Can they make it count?

This is game on now because the big guns for Wigan have got to come out.

Bevan French, Jai Field, Harry Smith - these guys have got to step up. They've got to start chancing their hand.

Wakefield have not been lucky, they've been industrious. They've come with a gameplan to push and move Wigan's big forward pack around the park and dictate the speed of the game.
