England's Thomas Dean and Scotland's Duncan Scott are among the most decorated swimmers around.

They are also training partners, but tonight they will go head-to-head in the final of the men's 200m individual medley.

Dean is a three-time Olympic champion, and left the 2022 Commonwealth Games with seven medals including one gold.

Scott is an eight-time Olympic medalist and is the most decorated British swimmer in Olympic history.

Both topped their respective heats - this is one not to be missed.

Duncan Scott has so many medals from his four previous Commonwealth Games - 13 in total - than he probably doesn't know where they all are. In fact, the 29-year-old won his very first in this pool 12 years ago, when he was just a wee boy.

That wee boy is now one of the big men in the sport and is Scotland's most decorated Games athlete.

He goes up early tonight against his pal Tom Dean in the 200m individual medley, looking to defending the title he won by edging out the Englishman in a Games record four years ago. What price a repeat tonight?

Canada showing their classpublished at 19:16 BST 24 July

Men's Team Final, plus individual apparatus qualifying

Canada's Rene Cournoyer has produced a squeaky clean vault to keep the Canadian charge on course. 13.850 - top of the standings by some way.

His teammate Felix Dolci then goes and tops it with 14.100.

It's been 20 years since Canada won the team gold. Just going to leave that information here...

James Hardy has kept Australia ticking on the parallel bars with a 12.850 which is good enough for third place on the day.

Reuben Ward impressed for his 12.300 on the rings for Scotland but it doesn't trouble the top-10 of the standings.

Unfortunate tumble for Scotland's Hamish Carter as he dismounts on the rings but he gets a warm ovation from the home faithful nonetheless.

Australia's Lani Pallister is the favourite to win this one.

If she does, then she will be following in the footsteps of her mum, Janelle, who won gold in the 4 x 200m freestyle relay at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland.

Tobin saves best til lastpublished at 19:06 BST 24 July

Men's Team Final, plus individual apparatus qualifying

England's Adam Tobin has broken up the Canadian 1-2-3 on the rings with a superb routine worth 13.400 to slide into second place in the standings and seal a place in the individual final.

The vault is next for the defending champions,

Henry Lewis' 13.150 for Wales on the vault is only good enough for seventh as things stand. He'll face a nervous wait.

Scotland are set to take to the rings while the Cypriots are making light work of the parallel bars which will help their team score - they have three of the best seven scores on the day.

Chance for a new championpublished at 19:04 BST 24 July

    Women's 400m freestyle final

Our first swimming final of the night is the women's 400m freestyle.

2022 Commonwealth champion and 2024 Olympic gold medalist Ariarne Titmus of Australia retired last year, so it's time for a new champion to step up.

2024 world champion Erika Fairweather of New Zealand clocked the quickest time in the heats (4:06.42), followed by Australian pair Lani Pallister (4:06.88) and Jenna Forrester (4:07.34).

England can't keep up with Canadapublished at 19:00 BST 24 July

Men's Team Final, plus individual apparatus qualifying

England's Joshua Nathan responds from his disappointing pommel horse and sticks the landing on the rings perfectly for 12.250.

Gabriel Langton scored 12.800 first up with a more difficult routine while Luke Whitehouse goes third and impressively scores 13.150 to secure a place in the individual final, as he surely will do on the floor too.

Canadian William Emard made it a 1-2-3 in the standings for Canada in the final turn of the previous rotation with a whopping 13.850.

It is still early but it feels like they are going to take some stopping tonight.

Wales all-around hopeful Elliot Vernon posts 13.150 on the vault while Henry Lewis can't quite stick the landing of a very difficult vault.

Will Scotland claim first gold of Games?published at 18:57 BST 24 July

    Richard Winton
BBC Sport Scotland at Tollcross International Swimming Centre

An early gold medal for the host nation always kickstarts any Games and those around the Scotland camp have pencilled in a few possibilities for that first rendition of Flower of Scotland.

Poster boy Duncan Scott is an obvious candidate in the second race of the night - the 200m IM - but further opportunities follow in short order.

The Clegg brothers - James and, especially, Stephen - are contenders in the S13 100m freestyle; Holly McGill and Katie Shanahan looked sharp in the 200m backstroke heats; and Faye Rogers is favourite in the SM10 200m IM.

It's already loud in this place, but it could get a lot louder if any of those can get the job done.

They're going under the radar a little but Canada are having a very good evening here and look like the main contenders to take England's title at this stage.

Rene Cournouyer has just posted the highest score of the day on the rings with 13.350 and then team-mate Felix Dolci has only gone and pipped him by 0.050.

Meanwhile Scotland's Reuben Ward sends the home crowd, and his teammates wild with a superb 14.550, taking over from Jordan Carroll and Rhys McClenaghan at the top of the pile. Those three are in a league of their own so far.

Australia's Jesse Moore has landed a score of 13.900 on the vault, the best of the day so far.

It's is ALL go in Glasgow. Unless you're England, it seems...
