  1. Villa into their stridepublished at 20:06 BST

    Aston Villa 0-0 Viking

Aston Villa already dominating possession and that was a good chance for in-form Nicolas Jackson. You'd have expected him to score with that header there.

It's a really interesting game so far. Very cagey as you'd expect with the ball zipping about. It's interesting that the best attack that Arsenal had was with a long kick from David Raya.

    Bayern Munich 0-0 Arsenal

It has been a pretty quiet opening few minutes but Arsenal have the first attack as Kai Havertz gets into the box and crosses from the right. Bukayo Saka tries to get a shot off but there's too many Bayern Munich players in the way.

    Aston Villa 0-0 Viking

Villa have their first chance in the opening four minutes. An inswinging cross from John McGinn finds Nicolas Jackson but his header is straight at Arild Ostbo.

  5. 'That's on the manager and the staff to see, not me'published at 20:03 BST

    FT: Como 1-4 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes speaking to TNT Sports: "It's not the first time, we started on the wrong foot, and they scored very early. Not much pressure on the ball, not many good movements with the ball, not many things going our way.

"Conceding early makes us go into game with a mood of defeat, it's difficult to get out of that, trying to be brave, to have the ball and make something happen. If we are not able to do that, it is going to be very difficult to get out of this situation.

"It's a decision from the staff to not press man to man and sometimes leave space behind and try to get the ball, wait for them, but sometimes when you give space to these teams they get confidence."

On whether he is saying Michael Carrick got his tactics wrong: "That's on the manager and staff to see, not me. Sometimes you have to be more brave under pressure, take the risk of pressing high and making them uncomfortable. As you saw with them [Como], the centre-back was coming to mark me in my own half. We need to do that as a team but we were unable to.

"A team that plays through the middle with small connections, if you give them too much time and space then they can hurt you out wide."

Can Villa make it three wins out of three in the Champions League?

They were so impressive in last week's 6-0 win over Fenerbahce I went straight in and signed two of their players into my Fantasy Premier League team.

A great noise inside the stadium in the first couple of minutes of this match.

The Bayern fans at either end of the ground were chanting at each other.

The Arsenal fans are high up behind David Raya's goal and making a decent noise too.

Arsenal vs Bayern used to bring sleepless nights for Arsenal fans. Fair to say those times are long in the past. I'll actually be disappointed if we don't win given the issues Bayern have in their squad and seeing what Viking did to them last week.

  10. 'It's not good enough'published at 20:00 BST

    FT: Como 4-1 Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Youri Tielemans: "It was a very bad match from us. The fans come out here and we put out a non-performance like this, it's not good enough from us."

  11. 'Madueke is very very different to what Eze provides'published at 19:59 BST

Bayern Munich v Arsenal (20:00 BST)

    Matt Upson
Former Arsenal defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Madueke is very, very different to what Eze provides and for me it's just a matter of what you want.

For me, Eze isn't the type of player who hugs the touchline, stays out wide, and enjoys driving at full-backs trying to commit them.

I think he wants to play and be clever with his movements, stepping inside the pitch, so it doesn't surprise me that Madueke is in the team because he will provide that width, he'll stretch the pitch, and make life difficult for the full-back.

Bayern Munich v Arsenal (20:00 BST)

    Matt Upson
Former Arsenal defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

When I look at the two teams, the midfield battle, Arsenal definitely look the stronger of the two teams. I think the legs in there, are what they're really going to try to over-run them and be more physical than Bayern.

The champions of Germany and England meet in an eagerly anticipated fixture which, but for Bayern's Munich semi-final defeat by Paris St-Germain, would have been last season's final.

The hosts' expansive, high-risk approach contrasts with Arsenal's more measured and disciplined style.

The Bavarians, unbeaten at home in the group stage or league phase of European competition for 13 years, have scored 23 goals in their four home games this season.

However, they have kept just three clean sheets in 10 matches this term and conceded three times in last week's draw with Viking, a result boss Vincent Kompany blamed on individual mistakes.

Bayern will need to be almost error-free against an Arsenal side with a similarly outstanding record at this stage.

The Gunners have won 14 consecutive Champions League games in the opening phase of the competition, including a 3-1 victory when the sides met at the Emirates last November.

Harry Kane drew a blank that night, but the former Tottenham star has an excellent record against his old north London rivals and is looking to score in a 10th consecutive Champions League game.

Inter Milan are currently on their longest ever losing streak in the Champions League (four matches).

They have lost seven of their last eight matches (W1), which is more than they did in their previous 41 in the competition combined (6).

Key Viking player - Zlatko Tripic

The winger admits he deliberately tried to unsettle Michael Olise before the Bayern player was sent off. "He eventually lost his composure and threw the ball in my face, so I feel I won that duel," he said.

Tripic, who has a reputation in Norway for trying to provoke opponents, moved to Norway as a baby after his parents fled war in the former Yugoslavia.

Despite spells in Germany, Moldova and Turkey, he has spent much of his career at Viking and leads this season's Eliteserien, which runs from March to December, with 19 assists.

    Viking squad summary

Viking's squad includes centre-back Henrik Falchener, who appeared for Norway at the World Cup.

New Zealand midfielder Joe Bell and Australian defender Gianni Stensness form part of the team's spine, while striker Erik Botheim was briefly part of a teenage rap group which included Erling Haaland. One video by Flow Kingz has attracted 29 million views on YouTube.

  17. 'We must be so focused' - Emery wary of Viking threatpublished at 19:54 BST

Aston Villa v Viking (20:00 BST)

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery on Viking: "They are very intense. Defensively, high press, very, very intense, getting a lot of duels, and they are good.

"When they are with the ball, they have intelligent players, and as well, physical players to get duels as well.

"They are playing short, they are playing long, they want to be more in the opponent box. They are very strong in set-pieces – very, very strong.

“They believe a lot in their set-pieces, in throw-ins, in corners, in free-kicks, so, we must be, in 90 minutes, so, so focused on our task, collectively, individually."

  18. Postpublished at 19:53 BST

Aston Villa v Viking (20:00 BST)

Viking have lost all seven of their Champions League away matches to date, conceding 22 goals in the process.

Only one side have ever played more away matches while losing every time - Tirana with eight.

  19. Postpublished at 19:52 BST

Aston Villa v Viking (20:00 BST)

If Aston Villa win this game, they will be the second fastest team to reach 20 European Cup or Champions League victories in terms of matches - since it will be their 30th game.

However those 30 games have come over 45 years...

Only Real Madrid, who won the first five European Cups, started off better with 20 wins in 29 games.

  20. 'It was humbling for them'published at 19:51 BST

    FT: Como 4-1 Manchester United

    Joe Cole
Former Chelsea and England midfielder on TNT Sports

It was humbling for them. I said before the game that it's going to be a real test and it turned out to be more than a test for them.

Like I said before, the spotlight will fall on Michael Carrick's feet, and he is not the problem, believe me. The club's rot has been there for many many years, and they [the club] need to get out of their own way. There are a lot of players in that Manchester United squad who probably are not good enough to play for Manchester United.

So when does the criticism come to the director of football? I think it's fair that you are trying to get rid of players on long-contracts, but if nobody wants them it's difficult to get rid of them at the right price.
