There is a lot of focus on Will Lankshear in leading the Middlesbrough attack.

A lack of goals, especially at home in the run-in, was a key failing in their push for automatic promotion and Lankshear has come in to try to solve that issue.

And he has a dream chance to get off the mark as Max Arfsten puts in a lovely cross, but he can't get a touch on it from six yards and Adilson Malanda immediately behind him is denied at close range by Danny Ward.

Port Vale get their feet on the ball after another loose ball from Wolves but do nothing with it.

Instead, they end up giving the ball away themselves in their own half for Adam Armstrong to rifle off a shot at distance but this one drifts just wide.

He's more than capable, though.

That is a super ball into the middle from Callum Doyle as he ventures forward from his position at left centre-half.

Ollie Rathbone makes the burst from midfield into the box, and he is not far away at all from getting a touch on it.

New midfielder Ben Whiteman who was only signed from Preston in midweek, must settle for a place on the bench.

Port Vale win a free kick near the halfway line and Wolves struggle to clear it out the box. Eventually it falls to Jaheim Headley, who aims and sees it crash off the bar.

It's then up the other end for a Wolves attack but Marshall Munetsi's shot fails to make returning Valiants keeper Jackson Smith sweat.

Been a little loose from the hosts so far. Vale could do with capitalising.

Port Vale have come out to play, and it is great opportunity to get a result early on in the season.

Jon Brady is a good manager and he knows what he is doing at this level. So, I believe they will have a good season.

Imagine they are going to erupt when - and if - their beloved Raul Jimenez christens his comeback.

The side are facing their first sights of trouble here though as Port Vale meander around the final third trying to find a way through to a clear cut change.

As for Wrexham, they're used to life in the spotlight.

A seventh place in May halted their run at three successive promotions but don't expect them to slink back into the pack.

With Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac as invested as ever, the Dragons will again be a force in the Championship this season.

Fellow summer signing Raul Jimenez features on the bench, as is goalkeeper Jose Sa following his World Cup duties this summer. Dan Bentley is in between the sticks for tonight's encounter.

Meanwhile, Port Vale have a couple of new faces added to their line-up this evening.

Summer signings Lewis Montsma, Kyle Dempsey and Modou Faal are all in from the off to make their first impressions.

Port Vale boss Jon Brady says "there is no sterner test" for the Valiants than that of facing Wolves and it's possible he's right.

Not only are the side two leagues above but this will also provide the perfect occasion for boss Cesar Peixoto to introduce himself to the fans at Molineux.

The Portuguese head coach is new to English football and has affirmed that he wants to give Wolves a new identity under his leadership.

"It's a new era," Peixoto told BBC Radio WM. "The past is the past, so now we are going to build a present and a future for the club.

"The players are committed to our idea of the game, our way of working and we believe in that, we believe we are going to do a good season, good work and the players try to feel the confidence."

Brady will also want to put a marker down for the newly relegated Vale though and there would be no better way than beating Championship giants favoured for a return to the Premier League at the end of the season.
