Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola on the club's business in the summer transfer window: "I'm very happy with all the signings we made.

"I know the next question, do I want more? At the end, the club has decided those signings we have done are the ones that will improve our team.

"There were other options that we decided not to take for different reasons. Sometimes sporting or economical didn't make sense in the market for those moves. But I'm happy now. I have a lot of quality in the team.

"Now it is the moment is for me and the players to develop what we have."

He has trained with us, it's true he hasn't had minutes in pre-season but he has been training and it's a decision that we have to make. "When you are losing, and then you score, it does not look good. If you are losing, it does not look good. If you are winning 1-0, it is nice. So the focus is starting stronger in games, don't wait until the first goal to be more aggressive.

Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola on Dominik Szoboszlai moving to right-back: "Since I started, I have spoken to a lot of players about positions they prefer to play. I haven't found any situation where a player has said he doesn't want to play here or there. Everyone has shown the right attitudes.

"I more or less know their preferred positions. We have discussions but everyone is ready to help.

"If we have to play Szoboszlai as a right winger, as a right-back, left-back, I think he is ready to do it. He wants to help the team first.

"It is good to have players who can cover different positions. We have some injuries now and we need the versatility of players like Dom. It is valuable as even in the game they have to change positions."

Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola on facing Ipswich: "I think Ipswich is a team that has started well, in terms of winning the first game at home. The other game [Sunday's 5-2 defeat at Manchester United], in the first half they were probably the better team. Until United scored the 2-1 and the game went more open and they had to risk a bit more, I thought they played well.

"So, we will have to be very ready and give our best to win our first game."

"We have seen the market and what players have cost this summer, in all positions for other teams. It is about trusting the players we have now. We have to help them perform and not because of their cost.

"I will put in the player that will help us win the game. I will not be looking at whether they were more money or less money. I don't really know what they earn - I don't ask the club.

All summer, Andoni Iraola has said that he will be "comfortable" come the start of September when the transfer window is over and he has certainty over his squad. That moment has now arrived.

Senior figures at Liverpool said from the outset that this was never going to be a transfer window like last summer when the club spent a then record £415m under Arne Slot.

Last summer, Liverpool also made £188m from selling players and ended the window with a net spend of £227m.

If you include Jeremy Jacquet (a deal confirmed in January), then Liverpool's net spend is not hugely dissimilar this summer at just under £200m.

Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola on how happy he is with the balance of the squad, especially his wide attacking players: "I think we would have preferred in the end to have the best players than a player for a specific position. I am used to demand all the wingers to play from both sides.

"I know they normally have their preferred position, but we have been playing with Victor [Munoz], Cody [Gakpo], Rio [Ngumoha], in pre-season and in competitions on the right side.

"I think probably they have played more on the left. I have seen them in a good place on the right, probably Rio is more specific from the left side, but I think he has the willingness to improve and play on the right side.

"Even Bradley [Barcola], I think he is very open and I think he can play right and left. He started on the right side when he started with Lyon and it will depend on the match-ups, but I am happy with the wingers we have in those positions."

Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola on Cody Gakpo remaining in the squad: "Cody is a very smart player. My relationship with him has been honest since the beginning. He has performed with us very well, in all the pre-season games, in all the games. He scored in the first game, assisted in the next one.

"He was well aware of the situation in the market - we were constantly talking with each other. He has trained very well and I hope we keep him at the same level. He is in a good place, physically, mentally.

"I am glad to keep Cody because he is a valuable player."
