    Hull City 1-0 Everton

Brennan Johnson picks out Thierno Barry with a lovely ball into the box but once again Barry can't pick his spot.

The header is straight at Konstantinos Tzolakis.

Hull are chasing everything down and waiting for the mistake. I described them like a cobra in the first half and that's true.

Mistake from Ainsley Maitland-Niles, poor pass, he has to deal with that. The dink, the beautiful little dink from Joe Gelhardt. Hull deserve it.

A great noise around the MKM Stadium now. Hull are going into the top five of the Premier League if this stays the same.

    Who'd have thought?!

    Crystal Palace 2-1 Nottingham Forest

Forest win a corner and it's headed down by Morgan Gibbs-White at the back post but clawed away by Walter Benitez.

Murillo is arriving for the rebound but his header is blocked.

Three of the least effective strikers in the Premier League today - Delap, Barry and McBurnie. Not exactly a feat for purists.

    Crystal Palace 2-1 Nottingham Forest

Liam Delap dribbles into the box but he can't make much of the finish.

Delap is a weird one isn't he, all those big-money moves but hasn't really come good anywhere.

    Joe Gelhardt (48 mins)

    My wishes have been answered.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles won't want to see this one again. He completely misses his kick deep in his own half and Sorba Thomas is able to slip it through for Joe Gelhardt.

He takes a touch and dinks it nicely over Jordan Pickford.

Would be great if we had a goal or two in this second half.

The first half was certainly one to forget.

By the way, Palace's second goal has now actually been given to Jefferson Lerma.

    Feels like the correct decision.

Everton need more threat on goal. Tyrique George should be on for Johnson. Otherwise we'll be stuck defending all game and Hull will nick one.

The team that seems to want it more is Hull. They've attacked really well, on the break and have looked dangerous on the corners.

There are little bits of technical brilliance from Everton in the final third but it's very few. As a team, they look sluggish in comparison.

At the moment, 0-0, not a lot in it. I just want to hear what's happened with the goal that was disallowed.

    Daniel Gabbidon
Former Crystal Palace defender on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra 2 at Selhurst Park

You have to give credit to Crystal Palace because they were second best for most of that first half. We spoke before the game about all the sub-plots leading into it and it hasn't disappointed. A lot of that has been down to really poor defending from both teams.

Nottingham Forest should be out of sight. They got off to a great start, Dan Ndoye with a really smart finish. There were chances for Liam Delap and Morgan Gibbs-White.

Palace came back with the left-right combination and got two goals right before half-time to turn the momentum.

It's been a really exciting first half and I think there's more goals to come.

    Nottingham Forest's first half:

    • xG - 2.18
    • Shots - 16
    • Shots on target - 4
    • Big chances - 6

Oliver Glasner will wonder how on earth his side are trailing.

  16. Offside or not offside?published at 15:00 BST

    Dale Johnson
    Football issues correspondent

As soon as Brennan Johnson was shown to be in an offside position, there was no realistic outcome other than a disallowed goal.

Mendy's block is not classed as a deliberate play in the laws. It is like a goalkeeper making a save. That means the offside phase remains active from Harrison Armstrong's shot.

If Mendy had made a poor clearance, that would have reset offside and goal may have counted.

But the offside phase did remain active. So when Johnson challenges Giles, that has to be an offside offence

  17. 'Johnson's in an offside decision' - PL Match Centrepublished at 14:58 BST

    HT: Hull City 0-0 Everton

    Premier League

After VAR review, the referee overturned the original decision of goal to Everton – with Johnson in an offside position and deemed to be challenging an opponent for the ball.

REF: “Everton No.22 is in an offside position and challenges Hull No.3. Final decision is offside.”

    Former Premier League assistant referee

Brennan Johnson was in an offside position when the shot came in from Harrison Armstrong. Johnson then challenged Hull City’s Ryan Giles and therefore in law was interfering with an opponent.

An excellent and correct intervention from VAR Tim Wood, who was also right to instruct referee Michael Salisbury to go to the monitor as this was a subjective offside decision, rather a factual one.

It was Jefferson Lerma with the header from the corner but Anan Khalaili has been credited with the goal.

Lerma was certainly the one who peeled off in celebration.

  20. HALF-TIMEpublished at 14:52 BST

    Crystal Palace 2-1 Nottingham Forest

VAR had a quick look at that goal but deemed it to be good.

Neco Williams blasts over the bar right before the break and there's claims for a penalty. This has been breathless stuff.

No penalty and the whistle for half-time blows.
