It feels around this game that it's more about the Liverpool fans and the history they've got with Manchester City.

Andoni Iraola's team talk before this game will not be anything about what's going on with City at the minute. It'll be about how Liverpool play and how they can hurt City.

The crowd are going to be unbelievable today. That's why I love football because you get atmosphere's like this.

You're going to walk into that cauldron and you're going to feel that hatred, because it is. Liverpool fans feel a little bit of injustice against City because they feel that they took Premier League titles from them. What they need to focus on is how they hurt City.

Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola tells Sky Sports that he trusts Lewis Koumas "100%" and believes the 21-year-old can provide "a good threat" for his side in his first Premier League start.

Iraola confirms that Dominik Szoboszlai has a "tight hamstring" and, although the midfielder tried pushing through in training, he is not 100% ready.

As a City fan of over 40 years it’s been painful. My anger is at the owners. Escapism and socialising feel momentarily lost, though all football fans already know it’s more complex than that with clubs being like family. Like family we’ll defend our club and players. Not owners!

Enzo Maresca confirms to Sky Sports that the journey in to Anfield was "all good".

As he was during Friday's news conference, the Manchester City boss is in good spirits and insists his players are ready to take on the "complicated" challenge ahead of them today.

Enzo Maresca, as you would expect, was bombarded with questions on the guilty verdict at his news conference on Friday.

The Italian, who replaced Pep Guardiola this summer, said the club's titles had "absolutely not" been tainted by the damning ruling.

Notably relaxed as he gave his responses, Maresca reiterated his "complete" faith in the club's owners, and belief that they will win their appeal against the verdict.

As far as the football is concerned, his message to his players is clear.

"For me, the players - we can control just the pitch side, the football side. So we are focused on that. This is what we can do and what we can control," Maresca said.

I just think it's such a bad look that we're still having to wait for the consequences.

We've never seen anything like this. This is the biggest thing to happen to the Premier League since it started in 1992, that's how big it is.

Credibility matters and you won't get anything different from any coach or player at Manchester City other than we're going to stick together and we believe in the club.

They're about to find out the anger from every club, starting at Anfield.

The level of hostility will rise wherever they go. The ramifications are endless to this case. Where it goes after is something we don't know. It's huge. It really is massive.

I still can’t quite understand why Shamchester City haven’t had any action taken against them? Everton, for example, had a points deduction/fine as have several other clubs! The old saying: Money Talks… springs to mind.

One question we will get an answer to today is just how much has all of this affected the Manchester City players?

England boss Thomas Tuchel admitted that the verdict was a hot topic among his squad during the international break.

Speaking this week, however, City manager Enzo Maresca insisted the "feeling is fantastic" among his players and they have not been affected by "the noise" surrounding the club.

There is little doubt that Maresca, who gave his support to the club's owners this week, will be seeking to instil a siege mentality within his squad.

An Anfield crowd of 60,000 will provide an immediate acid test of that.

In footballing terms, this meeting, just five gameweeks into the Premier League season, does not carry anything close to the significance of the many memorable title-deciding showdowns we have witnessed between Liverpool and Manchester City.

It will certainly not feel like that today.

John Stones' goalline clearance - by a mere 11mm - against title challengers Liverpool in 2018-19 is among the defining moments of their Premier League rivalry

We learned during the international break that Manchester City have been found guilty of 'sham' contracts and misleading accounts as part of a scheme to disguise secret funding exceeding £830m.

Following City's appeal, the club's fate remains entirely unknown.

Repercussions could include a fine, points deduction, or even expulsion from the Premier League.

Everyone has their own opinion on what the severity of any potential punishment should be, and you suspect Liverpool's supporters, arguably denied more success by City than any other club, will be among the least emphatic, to say the very least...

In what will be the club's first match since being found guilty of the majority of the 115 charges brought against them by the Premier League, Manchester City visit Anfield for the latest chapter in their fierce rivalry with Liverpool.

It is a stadium where City have come to expect a considerably hostile atmosphere at the best of times.

City, of course, maintain their innocence. But there is little doubt that Enzo Maresca will have braced his players for their first taste of their new reality, with opposition fans sure to let their feelings be known.

In terms of the actual football? Well, the rivalry between these two - and the significance of their top-flight meetings - requires little introduction.

The eyes of the entire footballing world are on this one today.
