The referee is on the floor!

Lisa Benn is, accidentally, taken out by Grace Geyoro and she flies backwards onto the turf.

Fortunately she's fine and can see the funny side of it.

Wow! Villa take the lead, on the break, with their first shot!

It starts from the keeper and a few quick passes later Lynn Wilms plays a ball down the line and Chasity Grant is suddenly in, burying a shot into the bottom corner.

Arsenal will have to do it the hard way again.

Khadija Shaw spins away from Maria Perez and makes her way into the box, but her strike takes a deflection and hits the side netting.

Shaw, who ranked third in the Ballon d'Or, will be wanting to prove her worth against the winner of footballs' most coveted individual prize.

The women’s game is going the same way as the men’s. Think we need a ruling to be brought in whereby at least 6 British players need to be playing at any time. The league's not big enough to sustain this else all the national teams will suffer.

London City have been brilliant on the ball but off the ball they've been just as good.

They counter-press and win at back as quickly as they can.

The manager said they've got to do the basics right and they've certainly done that today.

Arsenal are knocking on the door. Lynn Wilms makes a mess of Ona Batlle's cross, allowing the ball to bounce through her legs and straight to Caitlin Foord whose strike is wide.

And then, a minute later, Arsenal come again as Georgia Stanway makes a late run into the box and has a shot parried away at the near post.

That would have been a top-class team goal if Grace Geyoro had put that away.

Danielle van de Donk had dived to the floor to get a header on Kadidiatou Diani's delivery, nodding it over to Alexia Putellas who then laid it off quickly for Geyoro.

But the French midfielder can't keep her shot down and it poses no problems for Ayaka Yamashita.

Quietly hoping London City Lionesses beat City today. This is coming from a Chelsea fan by the way.

Got to be a win for Manchester City for me.

Ooooh, first proper chance at the Emirates as Caitlin Foord drives into the box from the left.

She plays a slick give-and-go with Alessia Russo, but once she gets the ball back Foord stumbles a little and her shot is straight at the keeper.

Spanish flair in full flow then! What a lovely one-two between Jana Fernandez and Alexia Putellas that was.

What a move from Jana Fernandez.

Snatches the ball in the middle of the park, plays it into Alexia Putellas and then she just keeps running. Putellas lays it off for her again, but her drilled strike drifts just wide of the left post.

A great run forward by Villa striker Amalie Vangsgaard who breezes past Leah Williamson. But there's nobody in the middle to tap in her pull-back.

It's been a really good start so far!

Lots of fans were excited to see Mary Earps get her first WSL appearance for London City but it's a big chance for Izzy Goodwin too.

She's had a few nice touches but no real chances yet. It's an intense encounter early on.

It's been a really entertaining start.

Manchester City are starting to build those patterns of play which they couldn't do when London City were pressing them all over.
