Aberdeen can certainly expect a noisy backing at Dens Park, with more than 4,000 Dons fans making the trip.

I know it isn't the longest of journeys, but those are hugely impressive numbers nonetheless.

St Mirren and St Johnstone might have been fancied by many to be among the relegation candidates, but both kicked off their league seasons with wins last weekend.

And the visiting Saints arrive in Paisley looking to start a Premiership season with two victories for the first time since 2017.

Five teams are seeking their second wins and five others looking for their first points in the fourth tier.

An Edinburgh derby is arguable the game of the day, although visitors Edinburgh City are playing catch-up after starting with minus five points because of an insolvency event over an unpaid debt as they face The Spartans.

Annan Athletic are looking to avoid a sixth consecutive defeat as they visit Stranraer, who have themselves not won this season.

Aberdeen manager Stephen Robinson tells BBC Sportsound: "Momentum's everything in football.

"I thought Dundee were excellent against Celtic, really aggressive in their press, a good football side. We have to be arguably better than we were last week.

"We come here today to win. It's how you turn up on the day and we've got a good enough squad to come and get three points today. It's a tough task. We've got to be at the top of our game."

Dundee head coach Steven Pressley got a bit of stick for playing down his side's chances not only at Celtic Park on Monday but in the league overall.

However, that did not prevent them giving a good account of themselves against the champions and they head into today's game against Aberdeen having won their latest five home games - including three in the top flight.

Having failed to beat the Dons in their previous 33 meetings, they have also won the latest two between the sides.

In saying that, they will be wary of a Dons side who have scored at least twice against them in each of their latest seven league meetings.

It is also an Aberdeen side that have been improving since Stephen Robinson took charge and, after their opening defeat of Hearts, have won four of their latest Premiership games, with only Celtic having won more points since April.

East Kilbride could not have started their first-ever third-tier season any better, their 5-1 thrashing of Queen of the South suggesting a third straight title and promotion could be on the cards.

They face another big test away to relegated Airdrieonians.

Hamilton Academical return to their home ground after a season in Cumbernauld and will also be on a high after a 5-0 drubbing of Montrose last week as they entertain an Alloa Athletic who have yet to win this season.

Relegated Ross County are the other favourites and are unbeaten as they host Montrose, while East Fife are also unbeaten in five as they entertain Cove Rangers.

Queens are looking to avoid a fourth consecutive defeat as they host Peterhead.

A blustery wind may limit free-flowing football, but it has the makings of a great match-up.

It is the game of the day in the Championship and both these clubs will have aspirations of challenging for promotion to the top flight come May - and rightly so.

Under Neil Lennon, the standards and expectations have been raised here at East End Park and, despite only picking up a point in Inverness last week, Dunfermline already look as if they mean business this season.

Ayr under new boss Gary Naismith have started the season on fire with five straight wins under their belt, including a clean sweep in the League Cup group stages.

This should be a real cracker with hopefully a crowd in excess of 5,000 in attendance.

Dundee and Aberdeen will be pretty happy with their starts to the Premiership season, so they will be feeling fairly good about themselves.

The Dark Blues may have opened their account with a narrow 1-0 defeat away to Celtic, but there are plenty of positives they can take from having run the champions so close.

Aberdeen also kicked off with the three points, an added-time double at Pittodrie seeing them come from behind to stun Hearts.

It feels a hard fixture to call – last season it was two wins each from the four games between the teams, serving up an impressive 18 goals and hopefully there's the same kind of entertainment.

Partick Thistle are the early front-runners after last night's win over Livingston and only Ayr United can draw level with the Glasgow side after today.

Ayr have won all five games this season as they visit Dunfermline Athletic, who are themselves unbeaten in four.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle are also unbeaten in five as they visit Arbroath.

Queen's Park are seeking a third straight home win as they host a Raith Rovers side who are unbeaten over 90 minutes in their five games.

Promoted Stenhousemuir are also unbeaten over 90 minutes as they entertain a beleaguered Greenock Morton who are looking to avoid a sixth consecutive defeat.

This is the time of year when new signings are unveiled at all sorts of odd hours of the day and this morning it was Aberdeen's turn.

Belgian forward Mitchy Ntelo is the latest addition to Stephen Robinson's rebuilt squad, with the Dons paying Swiss club Yverdon-Sport an undisclosed fee for the 25-year-old.

Having joined from Lokomotiv Plovdiv in 2024, he returned to the Bulgarian at the end of last season on loan to Botev Vratsa, his six goals in six starts helping them finish ninth of 16 teams.

Meanwhile, his parent club were being relegated after finishing bottom of the Swiss Superleague.

However, today's game comes too early for Ntelo, who does not even make the Dons bench.

Dundee head coach Steven Pressley tells BBC Sportsound: "We took a step in the right direction on Monday. There are a lot of areas we can improve on. We had a go at it.

"Sometimes, for us, the winning at Celtic Park or the winning at Ibrox isn't always in the scoreboard. It can often be the performance or the confidence we take from the performance.

"I always just want to see a performance. I want us to be brave in our play, brave against the ball, brave with the ball. If I see that in the players then generally, I'm very satisfied."

St Mirren manager Craig McLeish tells BBC Scotland: "First home league game, it should be a good crowd and it's a good opportunity for us. We want this to be a difficult place to come and play.

"We have to build on the performance from last week - our performance merited the result. It makes your whole working week easier because there's a belief and a confidence.

"Everyone is enjoying themselves. We have to realise it's one week, one game, a good start. There's a massive campaign with ups and downs ahead.

"The play-off games are horrible to be involved in and we never want to be involved in that again. We have an internal belief in our group, and results like last week help the boys buy in."

There's already been one game this weekend, live on the BBC Scotland TV channel, with Partick Thistle recording a statement win over relegated Livingston to go three points clear at the top of Scotland's second tier.

An early Robbie Crawford back-heel and a Cammy MacPherson own goal give Thistle the win in the meeting of two of the promotion favourites at Firhill.

St Johnstone head coach Simo Valakari tells BBC Scotland: "It was a great squad effort last week. The players who started, started very strongly. The players who came off the bench really changed the game for us.

"We're in a good situation. All the players are more or less fit, so there's competition for places as well. It drives us forward.

"I was happy with our behaviour last week. How we tried to play our football. Of course, the naked fact is we're not going to score four goals every match, so we need to defend better.

"That will give us a foundation to win. There is no hiding. In some key moments we need to be better."
