Noni Madueke does all the hard work, twisting and turning to lose his man down the right-hand side, but his cross into the box is poor.

Well, it's barely even into the box it's so deep. It misses everyone.

Great development club. Good young talents from the academy, where they are supported and developed, given game time, which allows them to grow and evolve, and then they are sold at the right time.

Two little glimmers of hope for Manchester United then.

Marcus Rashford's pace can cause problems and their passing created a hole in the middle of the Atletico midfield.

If there is a positive to this dreadful start, it is that there is so long left.

Arsenal are in control of this match but they aren't freely creating chances.

Some promising signs now from Manchester United as Lisandro Martínez plays a great ball over the top and Marcus Rashford makes a great run inside the box, but doesn't quite get the connection with his shot that he was hoping for.

That's the first real spell Manchester United have had.

The goal is gaping, Oblak has actually come rushing towards the ball. Mbeumo just can't apply the finish.

Eberechi Eze puts the burners on down the left-hand side then taps it back to Bruno Guimaraes, whose effort is blocked.

This Lille side are going to be a tough nut for the Gunners to crack.

United have had a decent spell of possession here. Better from them.

Lamine Yamal has a go from range and it's not a bad effort in fairness. He takes a decent whack from Mario Lemina for his troubles and the two have a few words.

One to watch out for there.

The warning signs were there in pre-season when Tielemans reportedly said they ran less in training than at Villa. United look unfit, static and frightened. No intensity, no movement, no confidence. Serious questions need asking about Carrick’s methods. Simply not good enough.

    Better from Manchester United.

The ball is worked to Bryan Mbeumo in space just outside the box, he sidesteps one defender but places his shot just wide of the far post.

Does anyone seriously think Man Utd are a ‘big’ team? They are mediocre at best.

Simeone and Carrick are like chalk and cheese on the touchline.

Simeone might as well be Atleti's 12th man. You can barely keep him off the pitch, he's so animated.

Carrick is far more calm and keeps retreating to his bench.

Manchester United have had a lot of defending to do but they utilise the pace of Marcus Rashford for the first time and he is able to win a throw in level with the Atletico box.

This Atleti team is absolutely oozing with confidence. Nothing about this United team will phase them. And they're playing with that added incentive of knowing if they reach the final, it will be right here at the Metropolitano.

Galatasaray have barely had a touch here yet, with Barcelona in complete control.

The home fans are doing their best to make this as hostile as can be but it doesn't seem to be bothering this Barca side.

This is such a difficult atmosphere for Manchester United to play in as the home fans raise the noise every time one of their players touches the ball.

The visitors, quite rightly, are taking their time in possession now to try and slow things down.
