Good news from the latest umpires' inspection at Scarborough.

The ground has dried out sufficiently from yesterday's deluges for us to have a scheduled start at 12:00 BST.

A total of 88 overs scheduled. That may be a bit optimistic but we live in hope.

Gloucestershire have their full complement of bowling bonus points now, it's just a case of whether they can deny Durham another point for their batting innings.

A total of 24 bowling points for the Glosters this season... unfortunately, points for wins or draws have been a little more scarce.

Another boundary for Matthew Potts, pulling James Hayes off his hips and you wonder whether Durham are aiming to try and get up to 400 before they declare.

Another point is added to the Durham tally as Brydon Carse steers James Hayes to the third man boundary - and that's the trigger for him to switch to what you might call Bazball mode.

A couple of big heaves by Carse, including a ruthless thrash over cover for six, and the Chester-le-Street crowd are enjoying this.

A careless swish outside off stump by Kasey Aldridge, but he gets away with it - and then aims another big drive at JT Langridge later in the over.

It's a frustrating scene here in Scarborough - the sun is out for the first time really in three days, we've had a lovely morning (some of us were truly insufferable and did Scarborough parkrun this morning) in lovely surroundings.

But, heavy rain yesterday evening has again scuppered our chances of starting on time. When you walk on the outfield, the water does come to the surface, and it is understandable why the umpires don't fancy bringing the teams out.

Yorkshire were not overly happy about the call. They sent out their general manager and captain, Jonny Bairstow, to try and persuade the umpires to get us out.

The longer this goes on, the chances of a result diminish. Yorkshire will hope to skittle Leicestershire cheaply and set up a victory. For the Foxes, as many batting bonus points as they can muster, and a draw, will be their first aim.

No surprise that Gloucestershire do take up the new ball option and hand it to left-arm seamer JT Langridge, who's immediately clipped into the leg side for a single that gets Brydon Carse off the mark.

But Langridge should really have picked up that ninth wicket - he unleashes a beautiful yorker that somehow is scooped down to the fine leg boundary by Kasey Aldridge.

Aldridge falls over as he plays the shot, but he won't care - it's four runs as Durham creep closer to that 350 mark.

Yet again we are far enough north to guarantee the weather here in CLS.

We will have a prompt start on day three of Durham v Gloucestershire and as long as the weather holds off, I believe this one will be done some time around tea.

The radar suggests we won't see the worst of things until about 6pm and I would like to think I will be home by then. The rest of the country appears to be too far south, so this may well be the only gig in town today.

The general consensus is Durham will get to 350 and pull out of their second innings, having nabbed the next batting point. It will also mean they will better what Kent have achieved at Northants in terms of bonus points.

Durham are 331-8 so need another 19 runs to get a third point. If Gloucestershire take the two wickets, then that will end the innings anyway.

However, as for the visitors seeing out day three with the bat, I don't think that will happen. It's a young team and they were rolled for just 137 on day one. I think we may see more of the same today.
