Have your say on England men this winter

  1. Pak 131-4published at 27 overs

Gus Atkinson will have the chance to make amends quickly, after being tossed the ball by England captain Harry Brook and asked to break this partnership.

Hasan Nawaz lifts it up and it's almost like it's catching practice. That should've been taken.

That was a simple chance and should've been England's fifth.

    Gus Atkinson...again.

Hasan Nawaz rather casually plops Will Jacks round the corner where Gus Atkinson does well to make up some ground from deep square.

However, diving diagonally he shells it.

  4. Pak 128-4published at 26 overs

A useful partnership for Pakistan between Hasan Nawaz and Saad Baig.

They have 47 off 46 deliveries.

I think at the moment with this partnership building I think Pakistan need to be looking at at least 280. They ended up on 305 the other day and because they picked up early wickets Sri Lanka weren't able to chase it down.

  6. Pak 126-4published at 25.4 overs

An extravagant square drive from Hasan Nawaz off Sonny Baker brings him four. It should only have been a couple, though.

A fielding blunder from Gus Atkinson at deep point proves costly as he allows the ball to slip through his hands.

Nothing fortunate about Hasan's boundary next ball as he strikes another square drive - much more crisply this time - which fizzes on its way to the fence.

  7. How's stat?!published at 10:54 BST 20 October

Baker has found his radar with his second spell so far, bowling over half of his deliveries since returning on a good line and length, compared to just 15% in his opening spell.

  8. Pak 118-4published at 25 overs

    Will Jacks is back.

He's done a useful containing job but with Pakistan looking to kick there's a bit more intent shown.

The left-handed Saad Baig feels he has the measure of him enough to skip down the pitch and punch him over the head of mid-on for four.

    Nicely played.

Sonny Baker, bags of energy, continues.

Saad Baig neatly works the fourth delivery of his over through mid-wicket for a single to bring Hasan Nawaz on strike.

Relatively measured stuff from Hasan, though.

Four singles and two wides off the over.

  11. Pak 106-4published at 23 overs

Adil Rashid has taken a wee bit of tap, but the confidence of a bowler of his vintage is he's not frightened to give it a bit of air still.

The experienced England leg-spinner tosses one up to Saad Baig who takes on the sweep but the ball spoons up off his pad and over Jamie Cox's head for a leg bye.

Saad shows a bit more conviction off the final delivery of the over - holding the pose after chipping a lofted drive back over Rashid's head for four.

Plenty of height on that before it plopped just in front of the boundary and dribbled over.

  12. Pak 98-4published at 22 overs

As we tick towards the halfway point in Pakistan's innings England will be much the happier of the two sides.

My criticism of Pakistan's batting in these first 20 overs is that they have been quite passive. But Hasan Nawaz is looking to put pressure on both Adil Rashid and Sonny Baker.

    I like this approach.

  14. Pak 98-4published at 21.4 overs

Jordan Cox had some sort of blue under layer on earlier, but he's either rolled it up or dispensed with it entirely now.

I know wicketkeepers have strong feelings on these things.

Anyway, Sonny Baker is back. He starts with three dots before Hasan Nawaz dances down the pitch and belts him through the covers on the up for four.

  15. Pak 94-4published at 21 overs

Jordan Cox gets excited behind the stumps after Adil Rashid brushes the pad of Hasan Nawaz as the Pakistan batter attempts to work it fine.

England decline to even have a conversation about taking it upstairs. Wise, as the TV technology shows no bat involved.

Thoughts on Cox keeping in a short sleeve shirt?

  16. Pak 91-4published at 20 overs

Jamie Overton has a rather miserly 0-13 at the end of his fifth over. Pakistan's run-rate is 4.60 at the moment.

The cameras zoom in on ECB chief executive Richard Gould in the stands, chatting away.

  17. How's stat?!published at 10:30 BST 20 October

On a pitch offering very little lateral movement for the bowlers (0.6° swing - 0.5° seam), England have done very well to get Pakistan four down. The pitch in the opening match of the series was offering twice as much swing and seam movement by this same stage of the innings.

What a shot that is. Lovely shot down the ground from Hasan Nawaz.

13 runs coming off this Adil Rashid over. Yes, he has taken a wicket but Pakistan are really putting him under pressure here.

  19. 6 runs

    Pak 87-4published at 18.5 overs

Hasan Nawaz looks in good touch!

Adil Rashid gives it a bit of flight and the Pakistan batter hauls his first ball over cow corner for six.

The catch has been taken! Salman Agha has given away his wicket there.

He's shaking his head as he walks off. He knows he's given that away.

Pakista are in a bit of trouble here.
