Jamie Overton is entering the attack after drinks. I imagine he's going to bang it in.

  2. drinks break

    Drinks - SL 73-2published at 17 overs

Need 193 runs from 198 balls to win

That over was Sri Lanka's most profitable since the first of the innings. This could be a tight finish.

That's a good sign. Kusal Mendis doesn't time it, but he hits the gap.

When he starts to play well, he brings out the sweep.

  4. SL 72-2published at 16.3 overs

Back-to-back fours from Kusal Mendis - first on the sweep and then on the pull. That gets Sri Lanka going again.

Josh Tongue looks a real threat.

Against those faster bowlers, with the way this pitch is playing, it is going to be quite hard to get those extra runs required to close the gap.

For now, Sri Lanka just need to keep chipping away at that target.

  6. SL 64-2published at 16 overs

Dunith Wellalage, who is carded to come in at number seven, averages 21.57 in ODIs. The bowlers below him don't have great records either. It's the top order that need to do this for Sri Lanka.

  7. SL 60-2published at 15 overs

Need 206 more runs to win

Rehan Ahmed is bowling well enough for Harry Brook to position himself at slip.

There's no edge for the England captain but only three singles come from the over as the screw tightens a touch more.

    Rehan Ahmed - ODI career

    • Leg-break - 4 wickets, 50.0 average, 4.83 economy
    • Googly - 8 wickets, 14.3 average, 5.65 economy
  9. SL 57-2published at 14 overs

    Target 266

A glove down the leg side ends a run of 17 deliveries without a boundary but Kusal Mendis blocks the next two from Josh Tongue.

If it does get more difficult to bat as the innings goes on, with reverse swing coming into play like it did for Sri Lanka, then the tourists could do with pushing on just a touch.

Sri Lanka have to be careful about this run-rate.

  11. SL 51-2published at 13 overs

    Required run-rate: 5.81

It's a maiden from Rehan Ahmed, who takes his cap, yanks his sleeves back up his shoulders, and heads back to fine leg.

A great response to the dropped catch.

Rehan Ahmed is taking the pace off the ball and he is giving it a chance to turn.

It looks like he is trying to get the ball up above the batter's eyeline to give it time to turn and dip.

  13. SL 51-2published at 12.4 overs

Better from Rehan Ahmed. Much better.

Three plays and misses out of four so far in this over.

Sometimes cricket is a very odd game. How can england score almost as many runs in a T20 as a 50 over game?

  15. SL 51-2published at 12 overs

    Target 266

New batter Pavan Rathnayake has one of the more remarkable stances you'd see. His hands are down by his shins as the bowler runs in.

The required run-rate is edging up towards six.

You have to say it is probably a soft dismissal.

Sort of a nothing shot and Pathum Nissanka was trying to run it down to third man.

Nissanka will not be happy with the way he got out there.

Sri Lanka lose their second wicket.

The dropped catch does not cost England! Josh Tongue bangs one in with a cross seam and Pathum Nissanka, who is attempting a late dab, gets a thin edge.

You left that was coming. There was a run-out chance earlier in the over. Sri Lanka seem nervy.

Not an easy catch for Rehan Ahmed, but you want to be snaffling them up if you can.

  20. dropped catch

Nissanka dropped on 25published at 10.5 overs

And Rehan Ahmed drops a caught-and-bowled chance next ball!

It was low, between the leg-spinner's bootlaces, but catchable.
