Have your say on England men this summer

  1. SL 71-3published at 9 overs

Kamindu Mendis has looked in good touch since he came to the crease.

The Sri Lanka number five gets on the back foot to smack Will Jacks past mid-wicket for four.

A further single sees him reach 15 off eight deliveries.

  2. 6 runs

    SL 64-3published at 8 overs

Kamindu Mendis finishes the over with a six.

Adil Rashid has entered the attack and Mendis hammers the spinner's final ball over long-on.

I like that Sri Lanka are trying to put England under some pressure and aren't sitting back.

  4. How's stat?!published at 15:07 BST 19 September

Sri Lanka hit three sixes in the powerplay, already surpassing the two they hit in the last two games combined.

  5. SL 53-3published at 7 overs

Kamindu Mendis enters the fray and gets off the mark from his second ball, inside-edging a single.

That's not a wicket-taking ball - it dropped short and he could have hit it anywhere. Harry Brook showed good anticipation when the ball dropped short and Nissanka dropped back and that step to his right helped him complete that catch.

  7. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 6.4 overs

    Nissanka c Brook b Jacks 37 (SL 52-3)

    Excellent catch!

Pathum Nissanka pulls Will Jacks and Harry Brook, in the ring at mid-wicket, dives swiftly to his right and completes a two-handed grab.

The Sri Lanka opener had just brought up his side's half-century with a punch through the covers, but is now heading to the dug-out.

This was a nervy one for Jos Buttler...

  9. SL 47-2published at 6 overs

    Nissanka 32, Asalanka 1

For the second time in this powerplay, England come back well after conceding an early boundary. Good bowling but perhaps tentative batting, too. You're going to need plenty of runs to beat England here.

Really good shot. Just picking it out from outside the off stump, it was all wrist. He's a pocket rocket.

  11. 6 runs

    SL 45-2published at 5.2 overs

Sri Lanka have been lacking in this series, worryingly so, but one thing I can say is Pathum Nissanka is a player.

He flicks Sonny Baker over the leg-side for a glorious six.

Pathum Nissanka is playing very nicely. He looks like he's playing at different level to the other Sri Lanka batters. He's in his own little world - you can never get a word from him on the pitch or in the dressing room. He lets the bat do the talking.

  13. SL 39-2published at 5 overs

    Nissanka 25, Asalanka 0

Kamil Mishara's forgettable series ends with 12 runs across three innings.

So easy. Mishara trying to use his feet to find the boundary. There was no turn, a straightforward delivery, not finding the timing.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 4.5 overs

    Mishara c Overton b Jacks 2 (SL 39-2)

Will Jacks gets a wicket in his first over. Harry Brook has his off-spinner on at this end to turn the ball away from side of the ground made shorter by the wind. Kamil Mishara tries to send it that way as expected, but doesn't get enough on it to clear long-on. Jamie Overton takes a simple catch.

Shame that James Coles didn't make the team sheet. Surely an ideal opportunity to blood him into the international arena seeing as this match is a dead rubber.

    Baltos, St Leonards-on-Sea

  17. SL 33-1published at 4 overs

    Nissanka 20, Mishara 2

Liam Dawson spends the rest of his over trying his best to keep the ball as far from Nissanka's leg side without being called a wide. It's a good comeback.

Coming from the sub-continent, you can't come to Australia and England and let a spinner strangle you. Where are you going to score your runs, which bowlers are you going to put under pressure. That's a problem Sri Lanka have had.

  19. 6 runs

    SL 30-1published at 3.1 overs

Liam Dawson replaces Jofra Archer after Archer's expensive start but gets similar treatment from Pathum Nissanka first ball.

The wind is helping the slogs to the leg side here.

  20. SL 24-1published at 3 overs

Sonny Baker is having a decent series and nudges 90mph at the end of this over. He's been to the barbers since Thursday too. Sharp around the ears.
