Early change of bowling as Gus Atkinson is brought on for Jofra Archer, who didn't concede a run but didn't quite find his rhythm in his first two overs.

Joe Root has seen enough for now, though.

It had been a little flat here even with that wicket first ball but Robinson’s second scalp brought about the first hearty rendition of the Great Escape from England’s fans.

  3. Pak 7-2published at 5 overs

The end of another successful over from Ollie Robinson.

Ball-tracking shows that lbw was about as plumb as it is possible to get. Pitching in line, hit bang in front and going on to hit halfway up middle.

Abdullah Shafique, the first r0ght-hander we've seen today, is the new batter for Pakistan and is off the mark with an inside edge down to fine leg.

That swung very late and it was very full. As a left hander, when you get donked on the pad, you know it's done.

Ollie Robinson is finding that brave full length that isn't that easy to find at Headingley.

    Masood lbw b Robinson 5 (Pak 6-2)

    No doubt about that one!

Change of angle from Ollie Robinson, over the wicket and he swings one back to hit Shan Masood plumb in front.

Full ball, Masood played all round it and is hit on the shin. He wisely decides against a review. More fantastic bowling from Robinson.

No good for England this time.

Impact was well outside the line of off stump.

Imam-ul-Haq survives and both sides have now lost a review.

England have given up on this.

I don't even think this is hitting the stumps, I think he's a long way across.

  10. England reviewpublished at 4.1 overs

    Pak 3-1

Big appeal for lbw from England as Ollie Robinson gets another to jag back and rap Imam-ul-Haq on the back leg.

Not out is the decision on the field but Joe Root sends it upstairs.

In English Tests, Archer bowls 60cm fuller on average to left-handed batters (8.0m v 7.4cm) and challenges the stumps more (11% v left-handers/8% v right-handers).

  12. Pak 3-1published at 4 overs

Jofra Archer is just struggling with his line a bit in this over, sending a couple down leg and then over-correcting with a ball that is well wide of off.

Another slides down leg but the fast bowler does make Shan Masood play at the last. Another maiden.

Big toss to win for England who choose to bowl first at Headingley.

Sides bowling first have won seven of the last nine games (78%) since 2015 - at no ground globally do sides bowling first win more often.

Ollie Robinson, when fit, is justifiably making a claim to be the best opening new-ball bowler in Test cricket.

That is a remarkable stat from Steph. If they can both stay fit, though, it gives England a potent new-ball pairing.

Ollie Robinson gets through another good over, getting the ball to move both ways off the seam, and there is just a single from it - dropped into the covers by Shan Masood.

This is the first time Ollie Robinson and Jofra Archer have played in a Test together.

Jofra Archer's bowling average in Tests:

    • v right-handers: 40 wkts @ 32.37
    • v left-handers: 31 wkts @ 24.58
  18. Pak 2-1published at 2 overs

There are four left-handers in Pakistan's top five and Jofra Archer will be delighted with that. He has a fabulous record against lefties.

He starts with a maiden and finds Imam-ul-Haq's edge but the the ball drops short of the slip cordon.

Azan Awais is the second Pakistan opener to get out off the first ball, the other was Mohsin Khan in the eighties.

It's the sixth time an England bowler has struck on the opening ball of a Test, the last to do it was Jimmy Anderson on the boxing day Test in 2019.
