  1. Postpublished at 16:42 BST 2 September

    Surrey v Yorks 105-6

Surrey's bowlers are now well on top.

Tom Lawes produces a glorious delivery that just fails to catch the edge of Dom Bess and narrowly misses off-stump.

The weather is holding as well so relegation threatened Surrey are progressing nicely.

  2. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:36 BST 2 September

    Wharton c Pope b Lawes 45 (Surrey v Yorks 101-6)

Having taken three wickets for one run at the start Surrey now have three for nine after tea.

James Wharton stretches to meet a Tom Lawes delivery low and the ball deflects off the bat to give Ollie Pope his second catch in quick succession.

Two each now for Lawes, Dan Worrall and Matthew Fisher.

  3. rain stops play

Rain at Bristolpublished at 16:35 BST 2 September

    Glocs 62-5 v Derbys

Covers are stretched across the square and puddles are forming on top. In short it does not look promising at Bristol where Glocs' are looking up against it.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:33 BST 2 September

    Bairstow c Pope b Worrall 3 (Yorks 101-5 v Surrey)

Johnny Bairstow lasts 19 deliveries before trying to run the ball down to third and playing it straight into the hands of Ollie Pope who turns to his right to take the catch.

    Surrey getting back on top.

  5. Pitch inspection at 1630published at 16:31 BST 2 September

    Northants v Durham 112-3

Another look at conditions at Wantage Road on the way.

The main covers still over the pitch. Gaggle of groundsmen looking quizzically at the sky.

By all means cross those fingers, but you might get cramp.

  6. Back on at Trent Bridgepublished at 16:27 BST 2 September

    Notts 13-0 v Leics

With just one over on the board and nine runs coming from it, they are finally ready for a second at Trent Bridge.

Josh Hull has the ball in hand and Haseeb Hameed is in his sights.

Second ball the Notts skipper hits a third four, nudging it down through the slips to the third man boundary.

  7. 100 runs

100 up for Yorkshirepublished at 16:26 BST 2 September

    Surrey v Yorks 100-4

The runs have been hard to come by for Yorkshire since the fourth wicket partnership was broken.

But Yorkshire have brought up the hundred which looked a long way off when they were 1 for 3.

  8. Rain at Tauntonpublished at 16:23 BST 2 September

    Somerset v Glam 194

They can’t get back underway straight after tea.

Somerset openers may be relieved. It’s a terrible time to bat with heavy skies and a green pitch.

  9. Bairstow at the creasepublished at 16:20 BST 2 September

    Surrey v Yorks 95-4

The dismissal of Matthew Revis brings Johnny Bairstow in.

He almost heads straight back to the pavilion as the umpires consult with rain threatening.

But to applause from the spectators they decide to carry on and are quickly rewarded as conditions improve.

Bairstow has faced eight balls so far, scoring one run.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:19 BST 2 September

    Carson c Walter b Porter 9 (Essex v Susssx 163-7)

Jamie Porter strikes in his next over to have Jack Carson held at first slip.

    Sussex in some bother now.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:18 BST 2 September

    Stewart c Cullen b Waite 19 (Kent 220-7 v Worcestershire)

Anyone waiting for a London bus?

Matthew Waite has had to wait to get among the wicket takers for Worcestershire but now he's got two in as many overs.

Two in six balls in fact.

This time he's helped by a shot that you'd have to call Grant Stewart out from behind the couch to talk you through.

It was a bit of a forcing waft at a one quite close to him and he's flicked it through to Henry Cullen who's bagged his fourth.

Probably didn't have to play it. Easy game from here nowhere near the still greeny pitch though.

  12. 'A big wicket for Worcestershire'published at 16:15 BST 2 September

    Frank Watson
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

It looked decent to me [that decision]. He played round his pad a bit. He's played really well Bell-Drummond but that's a big wicket for Worcestershire just after tea.

It stayed down pretty low and was going on to hit middle and leg. He didn't look too disgruntled with that.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:15 BST 2 September

    Simpson lbw b Porter 17 (Essex v Sussex 149-6)

Essex break the partnership after tea as Jamie Porter traps John Simpson lbw.

A full ball from round the wicket nipped back, beat the inside edge and Simpson looked dead.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:11 BST 2 September

    Revis c Chahar b Lawes 40 (Yorks 92-4 v Surrey)

The partnership broken and it's a bit of a soft dismissal in the end.

Matthew Revis was perhaps getting frustrated at not adding to his tea time score and clipped Tom Lawes straight to mid-wicket.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:07 BST 2 September

Bell Drummond lbw b Waite 52 (Kent 213-6 v Worcestershire)

    Worcestershire land the big fish!

Daniel Bell-Drummond has played a blinder, starting in tough conditions, making the most of his luck, to put Kent in a good spot.

After reaching his fifty at tea, he's just reached round his pad a tad too far and missed one that's taking leg stump out for walk.

Waite deservedly joins the wicket party with Worcestershire sniffing shooting the hosts out for under 250.

  16. Postpublished at 16:05 BST 2 September

    Surrey v Yorks 92-3

An examining over from Tom Lawes bowled to Matthew Revis.

The first ball in particular nearly gets through but Yorkshire's fourth wicket pair continue to frustrate the home side and James Wharton hits a boundary in the next over.

  17. Restart at Trent Bridge at 16:25published at 16:03 BST 2 September

    Notts 9-1 v Leics

The inspection has been and gone and the verdict is in: a start in around 20 minutes is feasible as long as there is no more rain.

  18. Pitch inspection at Northamptonpublished at 16:02 BST 2 September

    Northants v Durham 112-3

    Good news....ish?

There was an inspection about 20 minutes ago and there will be another at 16:00 BST.

The good bit of that news is that the number of covers have been reduced with now just the pitch covered.

Fingers crossed the players can get back out there...

  19. wicket

GLAMORGAN ALL OUTpublished at 16:00 BST 2 September

    Hamza c Rew b Leach 18 (Somerset v Glam 194)

Some handy late runs from Mir Hamza and Tim van der Gugten but Jack Leach finally gets in on the act to remove Hamza and Glamorgan are all done for 194.

A flat deliver my draws a thin edge to the wicketkeeper.

All 10 wickets caught behind the bat. Shows you that there’s plenty in this pitch for the bowlers so we’ll see how the visitors can go after tea.

  20. Tea at Northwoodpublished at 15:59 BST 2 September

    Middx 104-3 Lancs

It's what you would call finely poised at Merchant Taylors' School with Middx responding well to a strong start from the visitors.

Two wickets for Sir Jimmy of Anderson - and trademark strikes they were too - and a later breakthrough for George Balderson ensure both sides will be happy enough.

In between Leus du Plooy (41) and Luke Hollman (43*) added 72 for the third wicket at a decent clip. Hollman has batted aggressively and well for his runs.
