  1. Surrey bowlers keeping it tightpublished at 17:26 BST 2 September

    Surrey v Yorks 115-7

16 overs are still scheduled to be bowled in the day at The Oval. Can Surrey bowl Yorkshire out by the close?

They may not want to be too quick in taking the last three wickets or their batters could face an awkward few overs today.

Yorkshire have found runs hard to come by with only 11 boundaries in the first 56 overs.

  2. Steady reply from Worcestershirepublished at 17:24 BST 2 September

    Kent 238 v Worcestershire 19-0

Worcestershire openers Dan Lategan and Jake Libby, representing both ends of the experience spectrum, will be set on getting to the close unscathed if they can.

Left-handed dasher Lategan, fresh from his maiden hundred for the county at Cheltenham, has a careful five and Libby has controlled a few very uncomfortable moments expertly.

There's still plenty in this for the bowlers you feel.

Worcesteshire need to put in a shift here.

  3. Back on at Tauntonpublished at 17:18 BST 2 September

    Somerset 17-0 v Glam 194

Again, it was just a passing heavy shower and they’re off and on again.

  4. Bad light stops playpublished at 17:17 BST 2 September

    Middx 139-3 v Lancs

It has been a gloomy sort of day at Merchant Taylors' School with rain and bad light both interrupting proceedings and now they are off for the latter.

Middx have motored along pretty well despite the early loss of Sam Robson, Max Holden and Leus du Plooy, the first two to lovely deliveries from Jimmy Anderson.

Credit to Luke Hollman (54) for a powerful and positive innings, He leaves unbeaten with Ben Geddes (23).

Also credit to the the most optimistic man on site who has to be the owner of the yellow ice cream van that has been parked on the boundary edge all day.

  5. Bad light stops playpublished at 17:16 BST 2 September

    Northants v Durham 129-3

And just like that, they've gone again.

You can see why cricketers hate days like today.

Not sure we'll get any more action now.

  6. Play back underway at Wantage Roadpublished at 17:14 BST 2 September

    Northants v Durham 129-3

The action finally got back underway at 17:00 BST and Durham have ticked along without further loss, having resumed on 112-3.

14 overs left in the day.

    Light's not great though.

  7. Rain at Tauntonpublished at 17:14 BST 2 September

    Somerset 9-0 v Glam 194

Just 29 balls possible and they’re off again for rain.

  8. Close of play at Southamptonpublished at 17:10 BST 2 September

    Hants v Warks 141-1

They've given up for the day at Southampton as the rain refuses to relent.

Play started 35 minutes late but from there we got beyond lunch before the weather intervened.

Hampshire had the early wicket of Will Young from an excellent delivery by Scott Currie but after that Warwickshire dominated. Having to work hard initially Rob Yates and Dan Mousley built an unbroken stand of 127 with both getting fifties.

The home side will hope to patch up two of their bowlers by tomorrow. Currie and Kyle Abbott have both been nursing hand injuries.

  9. Bad light stops playpublished at 17:09 BST 2 September

    Notts 42-0 v Leics

The umpires have had a quick chat and they are taking them off for bad light.

It is not officially the end of the day but you would be surprised if it suddenly brightens up here.

Haseeb Hameed has been a bit sketchy but positive in getting to 32 while Ben Slater has had about half the strike for his 10 not out.

  10. new ball

New ballpublished at 17:09 BST 2 September

    Essex v Sussex 199-7

Matt Critchley given the last over with the old ball and Dom Goodman belts him over his hesd for six and then slaps him over mid-on for four.

Sam Cook now back with a new cherry in hand.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:07 BST 2 September

    Hill c Foakes b Worrall 1 (Surrey v Yorks 113-7)

George Hill finally gets a run but doesn't last much longer.

It's been an excellent spell from Dan Worrall who claims his third wicket finding the outside edge to have Hill caught behind.

  12. Postpublished at 17:03 BST 2 September

    Notts 39-0 v Leics

Nervous glance backwards from Haseeb Hameed as a thick edge off Ian Holland flies towards the slip cordon but the Notts skipper need not have worried.

The ball goes wide of the right hand dive of third slip and skips on down to the boundary for a sixth four of his innings. Hameed is rattling along but not without a few anxious moments.

  13. Postpublished at 17:01 BST 2 September

    Surrey v Yorks 111-6

Yorkshire are struggling to get bat on ball as Dan Worrall looks especially threatening.

George Hill has yet to score after facing 16 deliveries.

  14. wicket

WICKET - Kent all outpublished at 16:59 BST 2 September

    Quinn c Swanepoel b Taylor 1 (Kent 238 v Worcestershire)

    Kent all done.

Matt Quinn goes for glory but instead of the stands he finds the stratosphere. Stright up it goes and Beyers Swanepoel waits for gravity to kick in and watches it into his hands in the covers.

    Tom Taylor ends with 3-55.

Kent 238 all out and the Pears will be pretty pleased.

  15. Resumption at Tauntonpublished at 16:56 BST 2 September

    Somerset 0-0 v Glam 194

Skies have cleared and Somerset’s reply begins.

Can Glamorgan get back in the game?

  16. Close of play at Bristolpublished at 16:56 BST 2 September

    Glocs 62-5 v Derbys

A frustrating day and the officials have called time on it with rain continuing to fall, the covers stretched across the square and the light gloomy.

Derbys will be frustrated with the weather having established a firm grip on this contest early with five wickets in the 31 overs available.

The two teams will reconvene tomorrow at 10:30 BST in an attempt to make up lost ground.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:56 BST 2 September

    Dudgeon c Cullen b Allison 8 (Kent 237-9 v Worcestershire)

Too good for Keith Dudgeon. To be fair, it would've been too good for a lot of the top order.

Ben Allison gets one to jag off the ideal line and length, take the shoulder of the bat and loop straight to Henry Cullen how grabs a fifth catch for the first time in his first-class career.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:55 BST 2 September

    Milnes c Allison b Taylor 7 (Kent 233-8 v Worcestershire)

Tom Taylor gets his second wicket.

Slgihtly wider of the crease, angled in, finds the edge of Matt Milnes' drive and it caught by Ben Allison as it whistles to first slip.

  19. 50 runs

The first runs conceded by James Anderson after tea and it is four off the bat of Luke Hollman that brings up his half century in 91 balls.

It has contained 11 boundaries and has been an aggressive front foot knock from the big Middx batsman.

  20. rain stops play

Rain at Southamptonpublished at 16:48 BST 2 September

    Hants v Warks 141-1

The rain has been light but persistent at Southampton and there's no sign of a resumption.

We've had 41 overs so far during which Warwickshire have got themselves into a good position after being put in.
