Liam Patterson-White is on to bowl some left-hand off-spin and finds the outside edge of Thomas Rew's bat but it drops short of slip.
And then Rew comes down the track to the next ball and smashes it in the air for a one-bounce four through wide mid-on.
The nip and tuck of spin bowling in a microcosm right there.

Saif Zaib has been dominating this fourth-wicket partnership, but it's Nathan McSweeney who comes to the fore now - or should that be spelled 'four'?
The Australian has just clattered three of them in four balls from Daz Ahmed to move along to 79 not out and take the stand beyond 200 as Northamptonshire close in on their first bonus point.
It feels like a long time ago that Gloucestershire collected their bowling point, to be honest.
Lancashire v Kent 100-2
Kent would have certainly taken 100-2 when Sam Northeast was dismissed and the visitors found themselves 24-2.
Daniel Bell-Drummond nudges one towards the gap at point off Liam Livingstone and picks up a single to take Kent to three figures.
Opener Ben Dawkins has dug in well and is approaching 50, while Bell-Drummond is 30*.
Sussex v Glamorgan 155-9
A show of defiance from Chris Cooke, who pulls Henry Crocombe over backward square for six - taking Glamorgan's total past 150.
Looked like a top edge, but he got 'enough of it'.
Nottinghamshire v Somerset 150-3
Thomas Rew blocks it into the legside and is able to pick up a single off Fergus O'Neill.
And there's another milestone for Somerset as they reach 150.

That's two wickets for 17 as James Wharton edges Ed Barnard and Alex Davies dives in front of slip to take the catch.
It's a third victim for the Lancastrian wicket keeper, two catches and a stumping,
Leics v Essex 112-2
Jordan Cox has been prolific with the pull shot today and he whips Joey Evison for four through midwicket before hammering Alex Green for another boundary.
Cox didn't quite time the second one perfectly, but it didn't matter - the power in the shot ensured the ball reached the rope anyway.
Leicestershire, having started so well with the ball, are scratching their heads now and wondering where that third wicket might be coming from.
Nottinghamshire v Somerset 147-3

Both have moved to half-centuries in the past few overs to put this match back in the balance after a quickfire start with the ball for Notts.

It was bound to happen.
Use the phrase 'we don't want to tempt fate' and a wicket is guaranteed - maybe England should use us in the next Ashes series whenever Australia are batting.
David Bedingham misses out on 50 as he edges a good one from Martin Andersson to the keeper.

Ben Dawkins cashes in on a half-tracker from Liam Livingstone's leg spin and swats it away for four through the legside.
Nottinghamshire v Somerset 144-3
That fine leg boundary rope must be wearing a bit thin today.
Somerset have scored plenty of runs in that area in this first innings and there's four more as Jordan Hermann flicks away Fergus O'Neill.
Yorkshire 203-2 v Warwickshire
After winning their last championship match against Surrey by an innings, Yorkshire are looking to build another big first innings total.
They started carefully and went on to prosper with only the occasional scare and setback. They're now scoring steadily and effectively.
With the subtle reference to Elvis Costello's classic Alison earlier - I look forward to seeing more 1970's post punk references.

He's batted superbly today and this partnership with Nathan McSweeney has wiped out that early Gloucestershire advantage when the home side were 41-3.
It's Zaib's 10th first-class hundred - six of them coming during his golden summer in 2025 - but this is his first of the current campaign.
Durham 152-3 v Derbys
Graham Clark pushes a ball from Martin Andersson into the covers as the Durham total passes 150. We don't want to tempt fate but batting certainly seems a little easier than it was during the morning.
Nottinghamshire v Somerset 140-3
A swing and a miss outside off by Thomas Rew from Mohammad Ali, followed by a pull for four down to fine leg, slightly off the top edge more than the middle.
Rew scores his first runs for 20 minutes since going to 50. No need to rush at this stage for Somerset though.
Holden b Allison 49 (Middx 132-3 v Worcs)
Ben Allison, who missed the start of the season because of injury, gets his second wicket getting one through Max Holden's defences.
It doesn't quite rank as "bang, bang" but it is two wickets in four overs from Allison and Worcestershire have needed them.

Nine fours so far for Cox, whose partnership with Tom Westley now stands at 81.

As predicted they weren't off for long, in fact only about six minutes.
So it'll be a slightly later finish but no overs lost.

He tries to lift Tom Haines over backward square leg but doesn't get enough on it and Sean Hunt takes a good tumbling catch in the deep.
