Yorkshire 192-2 v Warwickshire

So a first weather interruption at North Marine Road. It looks like a heavy but passing shower so hopefully we won't be off for long.

Despite losing Sam Whiteman just before they came off Yorkshire look in control. Warwickshire's bowlers have been more threatening since lunch but are getting little joy.

Will Luxton has already scored a career best in reaching 82 and will hope for a maiden first class century when they return.

Dillon Pennington is coming round the wicket to Thomas Rew to change up the angle and he catches him on the heel before going up to appeal for lbw.

Not out, says the umpire.

England spin bowler Shoaib Bashir skips up the crease and David Bedingham flashes him down to third man for four.

Bedingham is now 41 not out and looking 'in the mood'.

More runs for Kent as Ben Dawkins slaps one through the covers off the back foot from Tom Aspinwall.

A decent recovery so far for Kent from 24-2.

Applause for Nathan McSweeney as he drives Miles Hammond down the ground for a single that takes him to 50 - the fourth time he's passed that landmark since joining Northamptonshire at the start of the season.

McSweeney narrowly missed out on a half-century when his side met Gloucestershire earlier in the season, but he gets there this time and he and Saif Zaib have turned this first day in their side's favour as it stands.

Lancashire v Kent 75-2

These two are finding their feet for Kent here.

Daniel Bell-Drummond cuts away with precision off Tom Aspinwall for four and Kent are now onto 74-2.

And that is the 50 partnership brought up between Bell-Drummond and Ben Dawkins.

Tom Scriven has bowled tidily since replacing Josh Davey and he's a little unlucky not to have a wicket to his name, with Tom Westley wafting at a widish delivery and getting enough on the ball to scoop it just over second slip for four.

Essex will be happy with their fightback, though - Westley and Jordan Cox have now added 66 since those two early wickets went down.

Lancashire v Kent 70-2

Liam Livingstone has come on to bowl a bit of spin for Lancashire in his first County Championship game since 2021.

But it's not quite gone to plan as Ben Dawkins has carted him over mid-wicket for six.

That was a big hit.

The Yorkshire-born Australian Sam Whiteman sweeps Olly Hannon-Dalby for four to bring up his half century.

It follows a century in his last championship innings against Sussex in April.

Nottinghamshire v Somerset 129-3

And there is that maiden half-century in first-class cricket for Somerset for young Thomas Rew.

It's a fine way to get there too as he crashes Dillon Pennington for four through the offside. That one flew to the boundary and a special moment for the teenager as he holds his bat aloft.

Effortless from Ben Dawkins. He times it to perfection to punch for four off the back foot for four off George Balderson.

Thomas Rew is slowly inching his way towards a maiden first-class 50 for Somerset.

The 18-year-old is 46* as Dillon Pennington comes in to bowl for Notts.

Lancashire v Kent 53-2

This is better from Kent, who have just picked the pace up in the past couple of overs.

Nine runs from that over from George Balderson and the scoreboard looks a tad more respectable now.

Sam Robson's hard working innings is ended by a Ben Allison delivery which appears to keep low and clatters into the stumps to dismiss the batter for 70.

It ends a stand of 94 with Max Holden which has put Middlesex in a promising position.

Nottinghamshire v Somerset 122-3

A great opening batter's innings by Jordan Hermann.

He swivels on a short one from Dillon Pennington to help it on its way down to fine leg for four and that brings up his half century from 97 balls.

That's a first 50 in first-class cricket for Somerset for the South African.

Sean Hunt returns for a new spell and in contrast to his first-delivery wicket this morning, he sends down a no-ball which is driven for four by Chris Cooke, who is now 17 not out.

Ben Green's just sent down his eighth over in a row and he might be due for a rest soon, particularly as he's just been dispatched to the rope twice by Jordan Cox.

The first of those fours was less a late cut, more of a late flick that flew over the slips, but the second was a far more orthodox back-foot cut - the end result identical and taking Cox along to 31.

Lyndon James bangs in yet another short delivery and Rew smashes it through mid-wicket off the back foot.

An expensive over by James, going for 11 runs. Great over for Somerset.
