This is the Sophia Dunkley I was giving throwdowns to through The Hundred. She is so confident she doesn't see anything as difficult or a challenge.

The form she is in, she would be taking down any bowler. This mode of playing is what suits her the best.

  2. Eng 62-0published at 8 overs

Gaby Lewis sticks with Jane Maguire despite that chastening over.

Sophia Dunkley smears the Irish seamer's fifth ball through extra cover for another four, then expansively cuts up and over backward point for another.

The last six England hit in ODIs was in Guwahati in the World Cup semi-final last October.

  4. Eng 51-0published at 7 overs

Meat and drink for Sophia Dunkley, who hammers Orla Prendergast's first legal ball of the over through the covers for four to continue England's early assault.

A couple of balls later and Dunkley hits on the up through the point region for another boundary.

No maximums for England so far.7 overs

That was a tough over for Jane Maguire. Ireland don't need to panic. In the powerplay there are always going to be overs that are more productive.

Maia Bouchier enjoyed a brilliant 50-over campaign in the Metro Bank One-Day cup, scoring 486 runs from nine innings at a strike rate of 102.

Only Charis Pavely scored more runs (502) at a higher strike rate (108).

  7. Eng 39-0published at 6 overs

Jane Maguire is taking a bit of tap here as Maia Bouchier peels off four consecutive fours.

Bouchier plinks the Irish seamer over mid-on, twice cuts through point then nutmegs Louise Little with a square drive.

Maguire rolls her head back in frustration. England are motoring.

  8. Eng 23-0published at 5 overs

Sophia Dunkley attempting to use her feet against Orla Prendergast but cannot get the Irish all-rounder away.

No real demons in this pitch, mind.

That is a tremendous shot from Sophia Dunkley. It shows the class she has and the form she is in.

  10. Eng 20-0published at 4 overs

Here is that delivery which hit the stumps from Issy Wong...

Jane Maguire is also much more disciplined in her second over but Sophia Dunkley pummels her final delivery straight down the ground for four.

Women's cricket has grown in the past few years. Scores of 280 or 300 don't faze teams anymore. It is a sign of the quality of pitches, outfields and the players.

  12. Eng 14-0published at 3 overs

Much tighter from Orla Prendergast, who comes back with a maiden seen off by Maia Bouchier.

Just on Alice Capsey's keeping today.

In the last 20 England games, there have only been byes given away on three occasions.

Today's total of four was the most in those 20 games, although the byes came with a delivery which deflected off the stumps (but did not knock the bails off) from Issy Wong so probably a little harsh to judge her on those.

No real drops or missed stumpings.

  13. Eng 14-0published at 2 overs

Jane Maguire shares the new ball with Orla Prendergast.

However, she's too short to Sophia Dunkley with her fourth ball and the England opener rocks on to her heels and hooks it through mid-wicket for four.

    A brisk start for England.

  14. Eng 8-0published at 1 over

Orla Prendergast offers up a bit of width early on to Maia Bouchier, who crunches her third delivery through the covers for four.

Some swing for the Irish seamer, though.

Right, Maia Bouchier and Sophia Dunkley have made their way out to the middle.

Orla Prendergast is going through some final stretching exercises.

Charlie Dean has looked good for England and London Spirit as captain and overall I think a better long-term prospect than Nat Sciver-Brunt.

England are not used to facing the kind of medium pacers Ireland have. England have a real contest and I'm slightly worried!

Ireland played proper cricket and showed some real patience - England should know they have got time to get themselves in and not panic.

Glad to see Alice Capsey behind the stumps - Amy Jones’ poor form has hurt England over the last few months.

    Thanks, Matthew.

Incidentally, Alice Capsey conceded eight leg byes and four byes while keeping.

Attention now turns to how Alice Capsey will fare with the bat after 50 overs behind the stumps. She will likely be needed.

Timothy Abraham will take you through the chase as Ireland eye a big upset.
