Have your say on England women this summer

  1. Ire 5-0published at 2 overs

Lauren Filer down the hill at Grace Road.

Plenty of effort from the England quick - tumbling over a couple of times on her follow through.

Gaby Lewis drives Filer's penultimate delivery quite stylishly but it's stopped by extra cover in the ring.

Just the solitary run - via a wide - off the over.

It was a bit floaty from Issy Wong. There was no real pace. That last ball was 64mph and she is usually up consistently at 70mph. The slight up hill with the wind in her face might mean she is stretching for the crease.

There was a bit of everything in that over.

  4. Ire 4-0published at 1 over

Alice Tector takes deep breaths between deliveries.

She gets off the mark with a square drive after Issy Wong over pitches with her fourth delivery.

Hint of swing there for the England seamer, mind.

Issy Wong is bowling up the hill so we will see Lauren Filer charging down. Lauren will have been given that end from Charlotte Edwards because she bowled so well down the hill last time.

  6. Ire 0-0published at 0.1 overs

Alice Tector attempts to work Issy Wong's first delivery into the leg side and is struck on the pad.

Wong appeals, but it's way too high.

  7. Postpublished at 12:59 BST 1 September

Ireland's opening pair - Gaby Lewis and Alice Tector - are out in the middle.

Issy Wong, who was doing some keepy uppies with a football on the edge of the boundary moments ago, is limbering up at the top of her mark.

It is a great opportunity after a busy summer for Lottie [Charlotte Edwards] to be able to rest some people who have played a lot of cricket. Nat [Sciver-Brunt], naturally, is injured and needs to do a lot of rehab on that.

It is a new team but a deserved one. Tilly Corteen-Coleman bowled exceptionally well in The Hundred and there is healthy competition with Sophie Ecclestone.

  9. 'Delighted to bat first'published at 12:54 BST 1 September

Ireland captain Gaby Lewis: "We would have had a bat first today so we're delighted. It looks like a new pitch with a bit of green on it but having batted in the middle in the past few days it looks a good pitch and we'll look to get a good total on it.

"We were frustrated after an ODI series against West Indies but there were some positives against world-class players. All we can control now is what we can do today.

"Alice Tector is coming in at the top of the order and she's an exciting young player for us. She's been an amazing young talent coming through so great to see what she can do."

  11. 'Looks a good pitch'published at 12:50 BST 1 September

England captain Charlie Dean speaking to Sky Sports: "We are going to have a bowl. It looks a very good pitch but we want to get out there and see if it does anything early. We know how important the powerplay is so will be trying to cash in in that early stage.

"Sophia Dunkley and Maia Bouchier are opening up, Alice Capsey has got the gloves and Lauren Filer and Wongy [Issy Wong] are our seam bowlers."

On having the chance to captain England again: "It has been an amazing opportunity. I feel I have grown in confidence so much since the start of the season. I am excited to get out here against Ireland. They're a very good team."

England skipper Charlie Dean gave the coin a flick a little earlier and Ireland counterpart Gaby Lewis called incorrectly.

Dean decided she fancied a chase and asked Ireland to bat first.

  13. Welcome...published at 12:45 BST 1 September

England last hosted Ireland in a one-day international in July 2010.

That match was played at Kibworth Cricket Club in Leicestershie.

Just the 16 years later and the sides meet at a county ground - Grace Road - which is reflection of the growth of women's game.

Welcome to live coverage of the first ODI betwen England and Ireland.
