Have your say on England women this summer

  1. Eng 273-3published at 37.1 overs

Part of the problem is that Ireland's players don't play enough 50-over cricket and they are put under a lot of pressure in these games. The Irish domestic set-up is not strong let's be honest.

Alice Capsey is really trying to put her foot down. That's a really beautiful square drive, opening the face a little.

  4. Eng 269-3published at 37 overs

Need 13 more runs to win

Ireland will just want this over with now.

Jane Maguire dives over one on the cover boundary and then fumbles another to allow Alice Capsey back for two.

This will be done in the next couple of overs.

  5. Eng 260-3published at 36 overs

Need 22 more runs to win

Nat Sciver-Brunt is obviously a guaranteed starter when England get around to picking their strongest XI. Sophie Ecclestone and Lauren Bell are too. Amy Jones' future may depend on the success of the Capsey keeping experiment.

Does that mean Sophia Dunkley, Maia Bouchier and Jodi Grewcock are tussling for two spots?

The Irish fielding has gone a bit flat now. There's not much of a buzz.

  7. Eng 257-3published at 35 overs

Need 25 more runs to win

It's a quiet resumption after drinks as Alice Capsey shows plenty of respect to Louise Little's accurate over.

Whenever you play teams outside the top tier you always want to be the one to go out there and get a score. Plenty in the shed will be itching for a bat!

Let's take a moment to appreciate Maia Bouchier's second ODI century as the players take a drink...

  10. Eng 255-3published at 34 overs

    Target 282

All of that means 16 runs in the over, Freya Kemp has almost caught Alice Capsey's score and England only need a further 27.

Freya Kemp dispatching Arlene Kelly to all parts now.

  12. Eng 255-3published at 33.5 overs

Arlene Kelly's head is in a spin. She doesn't know where to bowl.

    Kemp through the covers again.

  13. Eng 251-3published at 33.4 overs

    Four more!

Kemp has biffed this one off a slightly short length.

That was vintage Freya Kemp - timing and power.

  15. Eng 247-3published at 33.3 overs

Ahhh Freya Kemp hits the ball so sweetly. She just swings through the line on this drive and it pierces a gap in the covers.

And the next ball is four too! This is a more emphatic hit but still looks easy for the left-hander.

It's been an issue for Ireland for a few years now. They have batters stepping up to make runs but they have not quite got the bowling attack. Today's an example of that - Ireland have posted a competitive total but England have not really broken sweat.

  17. Eng 239-3published at 33 overs

Need 43 more runs to win

Four byes help England further as Alice Capsey continues to time the ball well.

Freya Kemp has also found her groove early. She drives the ball through mid-off for four.

I've been a bit disappointed with Ireland's bowling today - they've not really hit their straps. They look a better batting side than bowling.

  19. Eng 228-3published at 32 overs

Need 54 runs from 108 balls

Freya Kemp has joined Alice Capsey in the middle. It should still be straightforward for England but you never know, I guess.

Plenty of applause for Maia Bouchier and rightly so. She played a brilliant knock after struggling a little bit early on.

It's been a tremendous innings - she will be disappointed with her dismissal which was a bit soft but take nothing away from the innings she played until that point.
