Records up for grabs today: First team to defend a title. Nope. First team in seven years to hold County Championship and T20 Blast titles. Also no.

Hampshire are, however, still holding on to the hope of becoming the first four-time winners of the competition, and though it probably passed them by at the time, no longer have an overall losing record on finals day after that convincing win over Notts.

They won their 16th match at the showpiece occasion and now have eight wins and eight defeats.

Which way will things swing tonight in their third final in five seasons?

There is no rest for either set of players with both teams naming the same Xls who were on duty in their respective semi-finals:

Hampshire Hawks: Toby Albert (wk), James Vince (c), Joe Weatherley, Ben Mayes, Tristan Stubbs, Hilton Cartwright, James Fuller, Scott Currie, Liam Dawson, Chris Wood, Sonny Baker.

Northamptonshire Steelbacks: Ricardo Vasconcelos, Chris Lynn, Nathan McSweeney, David Willey (c), Saif Zaib, Louis Kimber, Calvin Harrison, Lewis McManus (wk), James Sales, Luke Procter, Ben Sanderson.

Hampshire have won the toss and chosen to bowl first.

Skipper James Vince has told Sky Sports:

"The bowlers are ready to go again rather than wait another couple of hours and maybe stiffen up."

Northants captain David Willey:

"We were going to bat - a few guys stayed to watch the second game and a few went back to the hotel to freshen up."

Hampshire are on the verge of history as they seek to become the first side to win the T20 Blast on four occasions.

At the moment they are level with Leicestershire and Somerset who also have three wins apiece.

The Hawks are also tied with Somerset on 12 finals day appearances with a runners-up spot last year to go alongside their three victories.

This will be a fourth final for Northants from six appearances at finals day with wins in 2013 and 2016 while they were runners-up in 2015.

These two clubs have an excellent pedigree in the shorter format so, can Hampshire create history or will the Steelbacks join them on three titles?

Hampshire Hawks batter Joe Weatherley, who made an unbeaten 88 from 55 balls and was named player of the match, speaking to Sky Sports:

"We just found it tricky to be honest through the powerplay. It got easier as we put a partnership together. We were sort of aiming for 170 and went a bit better.

"It's by no means a poor surface but just a bit of a bounce with the powerplay and a bit of hold as the innings goes on.

"It was good to put runs on the board. It always felt like if we took wickets through the chase, then we had a good chance."

On the final: "We've played in quite a few over the past six years and it's very much a process now.

"Russell Domingo, our coach, is very much 'we've won nothing so one more game to reach our ultimate goal'.

"We will be looking to play well in the final and bring the trophy home."

James Fuller's best analysis of the season, he bowled very, very well indeed.

It all changed in the 12th and the 13th over. Jack Haynes and Joe Clarke with that partnership of 85 in nine overs, out within an over of each other and then really after that it always looked hard work for the Outlaws.

What a brilliant performance from Hampshire. Two key performers with the bat - 59 for James Vince and 88 not out at the end for Joe Weatherley which we think really is the difference between the two sides.

If Joe Clarke was able to see his way through with his 64, that would have been match-winning.

It's important to know that Notts sat at 100-1 with Jack Haynes on 25 and Joe Clarke past 50, they looked in a great position to take this game away from Hampshire.

But no, brilliant bowling in the second half. They bowled slower balls, they bowled full. They just bowled very well.

A great win.

Absolutely brilliant from Hampshire.

James Vince has led this team so well and he led with the bat so well. He is going to be massive going into this final.

I am most excited by the match-ups going into the final. Vince, Chris Lynn with the bat, David Willey with the brand new ball, it's got the recipe to be a great game.

It's all about who can hold their nerve, but this Hampshire team is looking very dangerous.

Joe Pocklington swings hard at Scott Currie three times in a row and misses each one.

The final ball of the over does go for four, Pocklington feathering one fine down the leg-side.

Notts need five sixes and a four from the last over...

Olly Stone survives Scott Currie's hat-trick ball. He picks up a single and it's also a foot no-ball.

A clever shot by Joe Pocklington to create the angle and push Sonny Baker through the gap between extra cover and mid-off for four.

Nice stroke but a mere consolation at this stage you'd imagine.

Into near impossible territory now for Notts.
