Northants 90-3 v Somerset

Saif Zaib has been getting a little bogged down but this is one way to try and pull yourself out of it.

Zaib dances down the track to Jack Leach and smashes him over his head for six with a lovely straight drive. Northants need a bit more of that.

And they need a bit more of this too as Zaib sweeps hard to James Rew on the square leg boundary but he conspires to put down the catch.

Insult added to injury for Leach as Lynn then smashes him for a huge six over mid-wicket and into the stands. Expensive over.

Saif Zaib swipes hard through mid-wicket from Craig Overton and it's in the air but bounces just short of Daniel Sams in the deep for a single.

Chris Lynn is then quickly onto the back of a length delivery and pulls away for four behind square on the legside for his fifth boundary of the innings.

From 26-3, Northants have started a bit of a rebuild with this stand now worth 48 runs.

Daniel Sams is the sixth Somerset bowler to have a crack for the defending champions.

Saif Zaib and Chris Lynn keep the strike rotating with three singles before Sams sends one down a long, long way wide of off-stump.

It beats the outstretched bat of Lynn and wicketkeeper Thomas Rew and runs all the way for four. Five wides. Not ideal for Somerset, but welcome runs for Northants.

Attempted bouncer to end the over from Sams, but it's deemed to be too high and another wide is signalled. Then another wide down leg from Sams before Zaib picks up one to finally end a nine-ball over.

You kind of get that feeling that a lot rests on Chris Lynn here.

If he doesn't get that big score with that special talent he has, on a pitch which is a good depth, but he is the type of guy who can muscle balls over the boundary, whereas Saif Zaib is just struggling to get going at the moment.

Somerset skipper Lewis Gregory brings himself on for a bowl and it's a strong first over with just three singles from it.

It was swung away by Chris Lynn and he got just enough on it over deep square for the six.

It was an anxious moment because there was a fielder down there who looked interested for a split second and then realised it was going to clear him by comfortable margin.

On comes ex-England spinner Jack Leach to have a bowl for Somerset.

Chris Lynn stretches at one outside off to pick up a single to deep cover and Saif Zaib nudges another one.

Lynn then decides enough is enough and rocks back to smash Leach high over his head for a one-bounce four.

And then he goes one better, sweeping hard for six over deep square leg and the outstretched arms of the fielder on the rope.

Lynn is the danger man for Northants.

Both fielders called for it. But you'd much rather have that than both saying 'yours' or not calling.

Two good fielders (Lewis Gregory and Tom Kohler-Cadmore), they both wanted to take the catch.

Northants are tottering.

Jake Ball is into the attack for Somerset and starts with a very tight over with just the one leg bye from it.

A rare T20 maiden and not a bad time to get one in a semi-final.

Chris Lynn is finally able to get in the swing of things for Northants, pulling away deep behind square for four on the legside from Craig Overton.

The very next ball, he smashes another pull but this time it's huge and sails into the stands over mid-wicket.

Lynn ends the over with a low paddle to pick up a single.

Northants opener Chris Lynn finally faces his first ball in the fourth over. He blocks and then nudges Riley Meredith's second delivery for a single to square leg.

David Willey then squirts a fortunate but useful boundary with an inside edge that races away to the rope before picking up a leg bye.

David Willey swipes at one outside off and it runs through backward point.

Willey scampers back for two and the bails are whipped off by Thomas Rew as the throw comes in from the deep but Willey had just about made his ground.

All a bit nervy for Northants here. Just two runs from the over and a wicket lost.
