That's one of the more unconventional second-serve returns I think you'll see. Maya Joint gets a bit of kick down the T and Serena Williams connects with a completely flat racquet face to sort of bunt it back. It goes long. 15-all.

How many times has Serena Williams come back from deficits and won tournaments and majors? It is more than anyone in the history of our game, I think.
Now Maya Joint is going to be really feeling the pressure. She started to shake her arm out in the last service game, so tension is starting to fill the body. This is going to be a tall order to get out of this set.

The best thing I can say is that at least Maya Joint has got to play against her idol.

The build-up was beyond exciting so you have to feel for Serena a tad. She would've wanted to put on such a fantastic show, all she wanted to do was show herself having fun and winning. There is time.

Something Serena Williams' coaching team have been trying to point out to her is the breathing. At times, especially in the first set, it looked like she wanted it so bad that she was almost forgetting to release into the shot.
We also saw some points which didn't have the sort of conviction she has always naturally had. It looked like she was pulling back at times, but there has been a bit more of a release into her shots in the past two games.
Jarmere is really wanting her to drop into the sliced backhand more as well, especially when Maya Joint doesn't look the most comfortable when she is forced to slow things down onto her own racquet.

Croatia's Donna Vekic, the 31st seed, has lost her first-round match in three sets to American qualifier Ashlyn Krueger.
Vekic won the title at Queen's a couple of weeks ago, beating Great Britain's Emma Raducanu in the final.
