    In reply to Paul in Aberdeen at 20:25 - The crowd would disagree. People want to see legends play, even when past their best. It is sporting royalty and most of the other wildcards are already out, with little or no impact.

    We haven't seen that very often from Serena Williams today. She plays the ball short and it pays off - Maya Joint, scuttling forward, nets her forehand.

    Maybe she should use more of that variety because getting involved in baseline exchanges and moving around the baseline isn't proving very rewarding.

    I had no expectations with this match. Maybe Serena needs to stick with the doubles. It is a pleasure to see her play but her movement is not great. But, at 44 years old, it is remarkable.

    Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov is through to round two of the men's singles, 12 months after a devastating injury-enforced exit.

    Dimitrov was leading Jannik Sinner by two sets to love in the fourth round when he had to retire with a pectoral injury.

    Sinner, of course, went on to win the trophy.

    Today, Dimitrov has beaten Australian qualifier Dane Sweeny in straight sets and he'll play Czech 15th seed Jakub Mensik next. Mensik beat Britain's Toby Samuel in a fifth-set tie-break earlier.

    There's a weird atmosphere on Centre Court. It's all gone a bit flat as the excitement has worn off and fans have realised that the Serena Williams of today is not quite the same Serena Williams we knew a decade ago.

    Joint is playing well but Williams hasn't got much movement, is hitting a few errors and is not fully committed in the shots so she is losing some of the power.

    It would've been better to give the wildcard to a younger, more exciting player to give them the experience of playing at Wimbledon, in my opinion.
