    There goes the roof!

This time the Welsh forwards get the chance to show their strength, as they drive Wales from the USA 22 down to within a few metres.

And when the ball is that close to the opposition try-line you know what is coming, and there is no stopping Sisilia Tuipulotu from that distance.

Two tries last week, another so far today. It's been a brilliant start to the WXV for Tuipulotu.

Unfortunately the conversion from Freya Bell comes back off the post, so the USA still lead.

Wales not be as good as they were last week, but they are staying in the fight, where previously heads might have dropped.

It's important they keep some momentum now heading to half-time.

You can just sense the turning in momentum here.

Wales win another penalty on half-way and the crowd at the Cardiff Arms Park is as loud as it's been all afternoon.

Another try before half-time would raise the roof.

Great work by the Welsh pack there, Kelsey Jones was really patient and sniped at the right time.

The sun is shining, it's three tries to two and we have a game.

Converted try: Wales 14-21 USApublished at 31 mins

    Kelsey Jones, conversion Freya Bell

The driving maul has been a real asset for Wales in recent years, and it pays off once again as Kelsey Jones crosses for Wales' second try of the game.

Freya Bell adds the more challenging conversion, and once again we have a seven-point game.

Thoroughly entertaining first half so far!

I'm not sure about that decision.

I agree that there was not a high degree of danger, but I'm surprised that was only a penalty there.

    Wales 7-21 USA

A let off for Wales as the kick to the corner is just short, but Emily Henrich cannot catch the kick and it spills into touch.

Big opportunity here for Sean Lynn's side.

    Wales 7-21 USA

Referee Amber McLachlan agrees that the tackle was high, but with a minimal degree of danger so it will just be a penalty to Wales.

  9. TMO checkpublished at 29 mins

    Wales 7-21 USA

Clearly it wasn't just me that thought it was high.

The TMO has now called referee Amber McLachlan over to the big screen here at the Cardiff Arms Park to have a look at the tackle.

It's difficult to see from the replays which USA player has made the tackle, as two different defenders appeared to go high on Tuipulotu.

    Wales 7-21 USA

A stoppage in play here as Sisilia Tuipulotu is down receiving treatment after what for my money looked like a high tackle from the USA.

We have been punished for not concentrating.

Wales are giving them the space on the wings but that was great feet from Erica Coulibaly.

Wales need to cut out the mistakes that are handing the USA territory.

    Blink and you'll miss it.

USA wing Erica Coulibaly threatened her pace earlier in this first half, and this time Wales are made to pay.

Coulibaly collects the ball wide on the right and dances past two Wales defenders before crossing under the sticks.

Annabella Vogel is still 100% on conversions.

Frustratingly for Sean Lynn's side they knock the ball forward from the resulting kick-off, and hand momentum straight back to the Eagles.

That's what Wales needed. That is brilliant from Kiera Bevan.

Hopefully they will take a lot of confidence from this and ride the momentum.

    And they reap the rewards!

That was a breathless series of phases from Wales, first Kate Williams, then Amy Williams and finally Keira Bevan each finding gaps in the USA defence for the first time.

Freya Bell is on target with the conversion and suddenly it's a one-score game once more.

  16. Postpublished at 22 mins

    Wales 0-14 USA

A first real threat from Wales, who burst into the USA 22 through co-captain Kate Williams.

The visitors turn the ball over at the breakdown but there is not much distance on the clearing kick and Wales come again.

This is better from the hosts.

    Wales 0-14 USA

    Siwan Lillicrap
Former Wales captain on BBC One Wales

USA are winning the physical battle at the moment.

Every time their forwards are carrying they're getting over the gain line. It's been all USA in this opening quarter.

  18. Try stands!published at 20 mins

    Wales 0-14 USA

After a long, hard look at the replays the referee Amber McLachlan deems there was not enough obstruction to chalk off the try.

    Wales 0-7 USA

It's fine margins but from the text book she is affecting the tackle.

  20. Postpublished at 20 mins

    Wales 0-7 USA

This is proving a lengthy check.

From the replays it looks as if Emily Henrich may have crossed in front of the Wales defenders preventing them from tackling Freda Tafuna, but there is not much in it.

    Tough call for the officials.
