Questions will be asked of England, but they did not have the best build-up to these Games.

Only two of the Roses' 12-player squad had experience in the Commonwealth Games - Eleanor Cardwell and Imogen Allison - after injuries to gold medallists Helen Housby and Natalie Metcalf.

And, the side's head coach Jess Thirlby stepped down from the role in March - just four months before the Games - because of family reasons, leaving assistant Anna Stembridge to take interim charge for a second spell after a stint as head coach from 2011-2015.

There's the buzzer.

It's not the medal they came for, but Australia dust themselves down from yesterday's surprise defeat by Jamaica to thrash England and get themselves on the podium.

It's bronze for the Diamonds, while England have to settle for fourth place. Again.

Fair play to Australia. They've recovered from yesterday's heartbreak and they've been completely dominant against England.

Five minutes remaining. Australia hold a 18-goal advantage now.

No coming back from that! But England are still fighting.

The crowd are really trying to get behind the Roses, but I fear it's all a bit late.

They respond well with a trio of goals, but you can't keep Australia down for long.

Away we go again. England need a miracle in these last 15 minutes to get their hands on the bronze medal.

I don't think Australia are going to allow that to happen.

Emma Finucane got the job done to progress through to the women's keirin second round in a bid for her fourth gold medal of the games but it wasn't all good news for Wales' women.

Team-mate Rhian Edmunds misjudged the gap and went down and more misfortune followed as Scotland's Lauren Bell couldn't evade the falling bike to crash out too.

Both got back on their feet but Bell looked in some pain clutching her collarbone and Edmunds required assistance to walk off the track.

They are scheduled to compete again in the repechage this afternoon but it doesn't look likely they are going to make it from those scenes.

It was only a brief blip for Australia. The Diamonds regain their composure and extend their lead as Sophie Garbin nets a hat-trick of shots without reply.

And that's the end of the third quarter.

A huge cheer as Eleanor Cardwell makes her way on for England, replacing Ella Clark.

And that's better! Six goals on the bounce for the Roses.

Australia had opened up their lead to 15 points, but England have closed it to 10 now.

It's really hard to see a way back for Anna Stembridge's side at this point. Not with the Diamonds playing the way they are.

Australia have scored seven of the past eight goals.

Australia's Courtney Bruce gets a warning from the referee for shoving Olivia Tchine. She's been a thorn in the England goal shooter's side all match.

The Roses steal the ball in the centre of the court but they can't make the most of it, with Tchine unable to collect the ball in the D.

The crowd is back on their feet again but this time for Drums and Roses - a four-man band - consisting of bagpipes and drums.

Two highland dancers and Finnie the Mascot get the spectators dancing to The Proclaimers' I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles). Obviously.

There goes the buzzer. Sasha Glasgow had the chance there to close the gap to 10 points for England, but her shot bounces up and out from the hoop.

There were some positive signs for the Roses, though, at the end of that quarter. It's not over just yet.

This is the first time that Australia have not been in the gold-medal match at the Commonwealth Games.

That defeat by Jamaica yesterday will have hurt them, but the Diamonds are very clearly determined not to leave these Games empty handed.

The Roses are struggling to eat into this scoreline and mistakes are starting to creep in.

Australia overturn it from the centre once again and Kiera Austin converts to put the Diamonds 12 points ahead.

This is what the medal table is looking like before the final day in Glasgow. It's a bit too late for anyone to catch up with Australia, but every nation will want to finish these Games on a high.
